This place is faultless, it has beautiful views whilst still being only a 5 min walk to the beach. The pool is relaxing and hosts are so friendly. Staff are very accomodating.
We had breakfast and lunch here and both were so delicious. The menu changes each day and everything is such high quality whilst still being well priced.
The rooms are as beautiful as the food too.
Couldn’t recommend highly enough!!

From check-in until check-out, it was an absolute pleasure being at this property. The staff make everything better with their attention to detail and going out of their way to accommodate special requests.

The view from the dining hall is stunning and breakfast there was the best way to start our days. Daily specials and the yummy array of fruits!

Only thing you need to keep in mind is the uphill hike to the hotel. The price you have to pay for the marvelous view ;)

An culinary oasis with a view.
On approach, I was put off by the steep access road. The last 20 metres is very steep, but I didn't need to get back in the car till departure. On arrival we had to walk up 3 flights of steps - Ground (Car park), 1st level (pool), 2nd level (4 rooms / yoga pavillion / massage area) and 3rd level (2 rooms, long verandah / balcony, dining and living area). WOW. The view is worth it.

The decor is a riot of artefacts from Sri Lanka and beyond, and adds an eccentric homely feel. Lots of heavy wood adding warmth and charm.

The rooms are great. Lots of cupboard space, large bathrooms and a high 4 poster bed. The doors act as windows and so need to be open to allow extra natural night.

The pool is large for 6 rooms / 12 people with lots of space to be together as one group or spread out as couples. I was there with just one other person, and there were 4 other rooms occupied.

Dining was one large communal table. We opted to be surprised by Chef Vova (non-resident culinary expert). This meant we got surpised by his take on Western cuisine infused with Sri Lankan spices. For example, for breakfast we had strong hoppers with a fried egg soaked in a "green curry" type dish. The Sri Lankan lunch was again a mix with Indian and some very different takes on the Sri Lankan classics.

Next time, I will book the whole villa. Not that expensive even if we are 8 or 10 people (capacity is for 12).

I don't recommend for a) children under 12 years as there are steep steps, no open grass area to kick a football and a few statues that could be knocked over, b) people with limited mobility or unable to walk up steps.

On the 2nd day we enjoyed the day at the beach. A short walk down - approx 7 mins, we swam, drank and then came up after sunset drinks. The walk back was around 15 mins due to the steep hills / steps through the short cut.

We stayed here for 2 nights, we booked last minute on a bit of a whim. The location was at the top of quite a steep hill. Once we opened the gates we were amazed ! There are 6 rooms in this villa and you can rent the whole thing if you like! We were the only guests there from what we saw so it felt very special!

The room was amazing, the bathroom was partly outside and was so pretty. The decor was like something we had never seen before, antiques picked up from the owners travels to Asia, India and Sri Lanka, everything unique and breathtaking !

The view from the balcony was the best, high up with a view of the trees, plants, palm trees, beach and sea. With relaxing chairs and even a telescope. This is hard to beat!

The food - we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here, the breakfast was $18 each but totally worth it, fruit, curd, juice, coffee, rotti, dips, string hoppers, it was amazing. We also had fish for lunch and a big mix of curries in the evening. The food and drink here is pricey but it is worth it.

The only downside was the area, we were not fussed on the vibe of the place. It had nothing on Mirissa or places further south. That being said, I would go back just for Villa Space !

A beautifully designed hotel on the hill high above and away from the hurly burly and noise of Unawatuna. The main dining room/reception room at the top is a wonderful space and has lovely views over the coast. The bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully designed - some with open air rain showers. There's a lovely pool and the staff are attentive and extremely nice. The food is very good.

We spent more than 2 weeks on the villa enjoying every moment. Spacious room, tropical rain shower, huge bed, nice bed linen. Delicious food (for example for breakfast there were buffet plus everyday special menu) friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. It worth every penny we spent there. we will definitely come. Highly recommended!

The hotel is situated up a very steep hill, a 5 minute walk from the main road and beach. We loved the views from up here and when we visited it rained and we were so glad to be where we were to get a beautiful view. Once you reach the hotel and are inside the gates, you have quite a few steps to ascend and so this is not a hotel for anyone with mobility issues and you'll struggle if you have a poor level of fitness.

**Room**

We had a warm welcome by the manager, Julia, and had a welcome drink, a refreshing coconut. We were shown to our room (room 2) which is on the same level as the living/dining area and another room. There are bifold louvre doors which open on to a terrace which is also a walkway for people getting to and from the communal areas. If you want a more private space, ask for the room at the end or one which is on the floor below. None have their own private terrace but some are more private than others.

The rooms are like museums, full of stunning antique furniture. The wardrobe was huge, although it sticks out at the bottom and so my shins became well aquatinted with it! Inside there was a safe and about 8 hangers. There wasn't really anywhere for my underwear and so I just popped this in a cupboard. We did have a mozzie net and didn't used this as we were at the end of of trip but we really should have. We had good air conditioning and a quiet ceiling fan which was appreciated. We also had a fridge.

The bathroom was large and almost wet room in style but for size of it; the shower was very big with excellent toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and soap) although the shampoo took a while to lather up. We had the most incredible double sinks and the biggest antique mirror plus a hairdryer. The only negative about the bathroom was the lack of light at night. In the day the open louvres let in lots of light and a fresh breeze but at night we had just soft red light. We did have an issue with a cold shower the first night which was not helped with the cool breeze coming in from the louvres but we mentioned it the next morning and all was resolved. The power cut the night before just meant it took a while for the water to warm up. The hotel did have a generator and so power cuts were not an issue. We had the loudest thunderstorm on our last night which knocked the power out but we had a power box in put room and could just reset it.

**Food**

The breakfast was delicious. It was literally 10 steps from bed too. It started with fruits, juice and coffee and the. We had a starter which was Sri Lankan inspired. We then ordered a dish from the daily menu and you could also order omelette or eggs done all ways. We had lunch one day and this is where we encountered our first problem.....no vegetarian options! I ordered a brownie which was delicious but I would expect at least one veggie option as a main course. We stayed for three nights and I could only order a vegetarian option on one night. I was really surprised by the lack of options and it was the worst choice I'd had in two weeks. The food that was on the menu was delicious and my husband who does eat meat and fish said the food was great. The prices were quite a bit higher than what we were used to and much more than the restaurants by the beach but the curry night was amazing. There is just one table to sit around and so if you don't like to be social, this place may not be for you.

**Facilities**

The pool area was lovely and peaceful with sea views. The wooden loungers had comfortable mattresses and each had a very long hotel branded towel on. The parasols were large too which was helpful for the brief rain showers we had.

We opted for a massage which was so reasonable, 7,000 rupees (about £16) for a 60 minute full body massage. This was done by a visiting masseuse in the relaxation area to the side of the pool. Here you will also find a cabinet with yoga mats, weights and other fitness equipment if wanted.

**Staff**

The staff are all lovely. We had a guard on each night who was great and helped us restore our electricity in the night after the thunderstorm. We had some lovely chats with the waiters and any issues raised we'd immediately attended to.

**Overall**

If you like a home away from home boutique hotel with stunning views and with a high quality finish, this is the one for you. We were unlucky with the weather during our stay but being here made everything okay. We couldn't have asked for better views, hospitality and views from our bed.

Travel time to Colombo Airport was about 1hr 45 mins leaving at around 8:30am. Apparently it could be worse if if rains. Not sure why as it was all highway but keep this in mind.

We would definitely stay here again. We'd planned to stay in Galle initially but having visited we're glad we stayed in Unawatuna (good beach, lots of bars and restaurants and shops which were less expensive than Galle). Although Galle was beautiful, it was like a museum and so quite tourist heavy.
