Unawatuna Hostel combines all your needs, whether you want your privacy or the Company of nice People and good Music, you´ll find it there. The hostel staff is super chilled and always there to help you, we also had a great time with the owner Bunchi who´s an awesome Person. The beautiful Mangrove forest and the the Tipis make the...

Hostel had really good recommendations and some of my friends personally referred it to me. The idea of tipis is fresh and novel and hostel offers snorkeling lessons as well as boat for own use. Unfortunately the beds spaces in tipis are extremely uncomfortable so be wary of that if you have back problem. In overall I was quite disappointed....

I stayed in Hostel Unawatuna in 2016 with my friend. We were in Sri Lanka on project work in Galle. It is conveniently located to the bus stop to head to other places. The walk from the hostel to the main road is lovely and the locals you meet on the way are friendly. Barry and his friends entertain and...

One of those special places you encounter while backpacking! It is not called Camp Kush for nothing! Amazing place to socialize and hang out while monkeys climb above. Like all others I ended up staying longer than planned (several people stay to work too). A far walk to the beach though, no warm water and no lockers - but what...

Stayed here 1 night in the dorms. This is really basic a old shack with some rooms and some beds in it and a (cold) shower and toilet, thats it. Was a bit dirty and really old. No lockers available. They also have huts, looked nice from outside. The owner is a really friendly guy (a character). Staff also friendly!...

We were meant to stay here for 4 nights, but ended up staying for 10! The main reason that I rate this hostel highly is the social aspect of the hostel. The communal area is one-of-a-kind - loads of comfortable couches, tea on tap, music and good conversation. It's the perfect place to unwind, meet new people and have a...

I ended up showing up here in March when the place wasn't technically even open yet, and Bunchy welcomed my friend and I with open arms. He has a beautiful huge piece of land and there are a few trails throughout the property, lined with mangrove trees, tree houses and huts. The food is incredible, and Bunchy even had his...

The most sociable hostel I've stayed in! If you see cleanliness as a priority I probably would think about staying here, but if you wanna hang out with cool people and have a great time, definitely stay! I literally just slept in my room and nothing more, stay in the dorm if you want a quieter sleep as it's away...

Visiting Unawatuna on a budget? I highly recommend this place. Far away from the main bustling area (which is not a bad thing if you'd like a nice night of sleep), spread over a nice large property, Benji and his team have a lovely hostel going. The rooms are pretty basic - I stayed in the dorm of three, where...
