Stayed 4 nights. Economy hotel within walking distance to the downtown main street. Pluses: family run, great breakfast provided, clean room and shower. Negatives: some rooms can get warm by day - no ceiling fans. Seems to cater to tour groups; our stay included student bus tours aged 12 to 18. Since hotel is of wooden construction sound travels. Student chaperones were great and had kids quiet by bedtime but until then it was noisy. Note: cash only, which is not clear on booking website.

We loved our stay here at hotel Atardecer. It is family run and ever so quaint. The food was excellent and the wifi was good. The only drawbacks were that the hot water and pressure where very finicky and the walls were so thin you could hear things easily from nearby rooms.

We stayed for two nights at Hotel Atardecer in Monteverde with G Adventures. Of all the hotels we stayed at on our tour, this was my least favorite. First, the nice things about this place. The hotel is located on the outskirts of Santa Elena and its an easy walk right into downtown for restaurants or shopping. The grounds of the hotel are very pretty - they have some lovely hibiscus and other tropical flowers growing around the hotel. In the evening, head up to the second floor balcony for great views of the sunset over the Pacific Ocean and Nicoya Peninsula in the distance. Breakfast at the hotel was pretty good, though not included in the room rate. At about $7 per person, it was a good price. The rooms were plain, but clean and the showers had hot water. There was no AC, but…

Stayed as part of G| adventure tour. Clean, basic hotel with nice flowers blooming in the yard. There's a back door that leads to town but locks at night time. Nothing special, coffee was not free and breakfast was $7 pp with combo choices between eggs, pancakes, fruits and rice/beans.

This was one of the cleaner/newer places we stayed at on our trip with G. The family run place is really good and they provide breakfast/laundry on request. For a hotel of this level the internet was really good, not falling over when more than 3 people connected. The bathrooms/bedrooms were all really clean and well laundered.

I stayed for 2 nights and although the rooms were spacious, my bed sheets smelt of must and I ended up sleeping in a mummy liner as the smell was so bad. The wifi was down the whole time I was there and when I went to reception and asked "the wifi isn't working?" My response from one of the staff was just " no." Before turning around to continue what she was doing, which I found quite rude. I didn't have a breakfast at the hotel however my friends did enjoy the food and would recommend it. The showers did provide hot water and the bathrooms were decent and clean, however the rooms were covered in ants. Overall a disappointing stay, would not stu again.

Cabin style set up. Free Wifi communal area near the Reception and dining area. Big breakfast for $5. Our G Adventures YOLO group was room only. The rooms were a good size and we were fortunate to have one of the larger bathrooms on the back because of where our room was situated. 15 minutes walk into Monteverde town. It's pretty windy because the hotel is at the top of a hill.

It is not a high finance type of town.... it isn't a big city with access to great supplies.... but the people did their best to ensure we got a good breakfast. there were barely double beds, but there was no A/C but there was hot water. We didn't drink the water in most locations throughout our trip. The hotel is close to downtown.. but walking back is all uphill. We tried out the tree house restaurant in town which was a restaurant with a tree sprawling throughout it.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff is very friendly. The free breakfast is outstanding. Our room was very comfortable, with excellent mattresses. The hotel is located near the downtown area which is also a big plus.

Stayed here just a few days ago and although it is a lovely hotel and the staff could be a bit friendlier, the biggest issue was the fleas. Everyone in our group left Monteverde with dozens of flea bites. I would not stay here again if I had a choice.
