By far one of the best places we've been to on our trip. Rooms are tidy and clean, private bathroom as well (hot water included).
From the outside it looks like a regular hostel but as soon as you step in it's a lot more...More
The rooms are incredibly stark. Our room had nothing in it other than a bed and a weird nightstand connected to the bed. And there is no soundproofing. We heard our neighbors singing, we heard them talking, and we heard their alarm clock go off....More

This place has an awesome kitchen and community feel. People hang out, get to know each other, exchange ideas. Great place as a solo-traveler to get connected. Knocked down a star because the room smelled of disinfectant.
Individual rooms for a good price. Comfortable room with excellent bathroom. Close to reserva Santa Elena and reserva Monteverde. Very good shuttles to the reserva and to Don Juan (coffee, chocolate and sugar).

The breakfast was provided in the attached food spot Taco! Taco! When I was there, there was a choice of fruit with yoghurt and granola and toast or tacos with eggs. Both were reasonable. I am a vegetarian and so I had both on occasion. They have free coffee all day.
As the other respondent said, the shuttle is not free, but I can't really imagine it would be as Santa Elena is way up in the mountains. A resort close to the airport could have a free shuttle theoretically, but I never saw any free shuttles really. There are plenty of transportation options for tours and activities. Sometimes the place that you get the tour will send transport or the kind folks at the pension can help arrange things for you.

"The rooms in the new wing are better, and the difference in price is a tiny one."
