It's a quirky place with renovated rooms. The evening front desk fellow was ok, but he wasn't able to do things like fix our room safe (which was locked when we arrived). The day lady seems to know all the ins and outs of things, and she is nice to chat with. There really isn't much around the hotel, so... More

Our only complaint was that the room allocated to us had a few unwanted tenants camping in the corners of the ceiling. I had to get my husband to evict the spiders lodging up there before I could attempt to go to sleep. We were surprised at the extent of the spiders webs all over the ceiling. The room needed... This is a lovely old hotel, the oldest parts of the building date to the 1200s and at one time it was linked to the monastery at Salem being their paper production site, as evidenced by the large windows in the upper rooms (for drying the paper we were told). Our room was a superior double room with a large... More

This is a traditional type Germanic hotel on the outside with a very modern interior. When we arrived the place was exceptionally busy, I think there was a wedding party going on, so it was difficult to find a parking spot for our motorcycle, no garage or designated motorcycle area. The reception was at the rear of the hotel. There... More

We came here as a party for Silvester. The restaurant was packed but there were plenty of waiters so we didn't have to wait. On these occasions the menu is a bit shorter, and we chose the Silvester menu anyway, which was good value for money and very tasty. Especially good the homemade ice for dessert.

We visited during early August 2015 when Southern Germany was suffering from heatwave conditions. We had a room on the top floor and it was very hot with only a small pedestal fan to cool things, at least we could have the window open. The room itself was very neat and tidy with all the standard amenities. It is a... More

My husband and I stayed here for one night after looking at more costly options nearer to the Bodensee. We had a superior room on the top floor, overlooking the building in back of the hotel (and the sunset). Check-in was easy and was conducted in English. Our room was charming and modern, with great amenities such as a free... More

After having a bit of difficulty locating this hotel on our GPS when we arrived we were delighted with the friendliness of the staff and our Superior Double Room (#333) within this 600 year old building. Being a residence for monks in the 1600's and their large bakery and water power source still standing next door. When asked we were... More

What can I say... I stayed for one night only and everything was perfect. The staff is amazing and also the rooms are clean and perfect. Very nice and quet rooms. The restaurant offers amazing food. They have two restaurants one for smokers and other for non-smokers. I suggest this hotel if you are traveling arround Lake Constance.
