AMANITA is situated in a truly privileged location between mountain and sea on the eastern slopes of Mt. Pelion in the genteel village of Tsangarada in the Prefecture of Magnesia, Greece. Behind it soars Mt. Pelion, ancient home of the Centaurs; a mountain much sung of; a mountain where the trees cast deep shade and countless springs bubble forth. Gazing outwards from the Guesthouse one sees the blue of the Aegean Sea, spotted with the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonnissos. All around is the verdant countryside of Tsangarada with its renowned paths, centuries old trees, old stone fountains and bridges.AMANITA is a beautifully restored old mansion of the 19th century. The AMANITA Guesthouse consists of two buildings: the three-storey main house and a two-storey outhouse. We offer 6 accommodation options, 5 of which are located in the main house (2 suites consisting of 2 rooms, 1 three-bed room and 2 double rooms), and a self-contained, fully fitted 2-room apartment with its own kitchenette in the outhouse. The main house has two sitting areas, a breakfast room and a professional kitchen. We attach great importance to local cuisine. That's why our famous breakfast that we serve includes hand-kneaded bread, home-made jam and local specialities such as pies and herby omelettes.

A very memorable stay: from the lush landscape and the blue sea, to the hospitality and the herb and vegetable garden and finally the outstanding breakfasts and dinners. Farm to table at its best in the Pelion!

Mr.Filaretos took very good care of us and his other guests with extra caution(due to Covid) and care for our nutritional wellbeing and warm stay! Many thanks and lots of wishes of health and prosperity to this wonderful family!

This is the place to stay in Pelion! As you walk in the guest house, you are charmed by the scent of the aromatic plants around the breakfast area. Further down, you can enjoy the wonderful garden with fruits, vegetables and herbs. The breakfast is simply magnificent, and includes various highlights of the local cuisine of Pelion, making use of several products from the guest house's own garden. The buildings are constructed with high-quality materials, with every little detail being paid attention to. Tsagarada is a wonderful base for a hiking holiday, with several paths starting right outside the guest house, and many others starting a short drive away (I recommend buying the Terrain map for Central Pelion in order to have a good overview). The tavernas that we visited around were also of an excellent standard.

My husband and I traveled to Europe in September 2019, and visited Athens, Mt. Pelion, Santorini, Cinque Terra and Provence. We enjoyed our extended vacation very much, and the highlight of it by far was Amanita! I can't say enough about our five day stay there. The simplicity, quality and beauty of the manor house and adjacent accommodations, the warmth and worldliness of the owners, and the elegance and serenity of the place were deeply affecting. Everyone writes about the breakfast, which is amazing - 5, 6 or 7 courses of healthy, organic and delicious food, much of it from their garden. We loved the dinners - we dined there two nights, and after dining out three other nights, wished that we had dined there every night. It was a 10 minute drive to stunning beaches, and our room, while simple, was just perfect. The graciousness of our hosts, like doing our laundry as we had been travelling for awhile, or offering us a fantastic organic local red wine, and sending us on our way with a jar of fresh oregano from their garden - this and many more small gestures were what made our stay there delightful. In a perfect world, I would rent out all the rooms and return for a dream week with my whole family... Date of stay: September 2019
