Detailed Reviews
An unusual combination of the boutique and the rather grand. Lots of atmosphere. The hotel is in a verdant and peaceful mountainous setting. Clare, who runs it with her Greek husband, Cristof, showed me up to a very comfortable room and made some sensible suggestions about how to spend my week.
So I spent a day walking, a day touring the peninsular, and so on. On day four I located a deserted cove with an olive grove leading down to the sea between Horto and Milina which was idyllic.
All amenities are to hand and a very generous breakfast served up in the morning. Exceptionally good value for money. Must be one of the best hotels by far in Pelion.

We were on a Macs Adventures hike from Portaria to Milles and stopped for one night at the Lost Unicorn Hotel. After a hot and thirsty day hiking we were so glad to reach the hotel. We were not disappointed. The hotel is really an antique collectors dream. Beautifully decorated with pieces from all over the world. Our host Claire made us feel most welcome and we felt so privileged to share her space. Her husband is a chef extrordinnaire and we had the best meal of our whole trip that evening. The township is also very pretty and we shared a quiet drink in the square under the 1,000 year old Plane tree. We thoroughly recommend this place.

Excellent environment, best location in Pelion, a place emerging from littérature with a remarkable library. Not only it is a must see but for those who have the luck to spend their holiday they will feel us guests of a family Table with easy going conversations under the piano sound and amazing dishes coming from Nikos the chef. And all the above in the most amazing garden or the most elegant English diner room

Beautiful hotel almost in the middle of nowhere. Visited in autumn without a car and there are plenty of wonderful paths and forest walks to enjoy around. Super quiet and the ambience is perfect for couples or a family getaway. The setting is amazing, full of green (there's a treehouse too!), the aesthetic of the hotel is breathtaking, so relaxing and full of things to do (books, board games, activities etc). Breakfast is rich and yummy, dinner on the terrace is equally delicious! Very picturesque and classy overall, makes you not want to leave. Perfect for any season, will definitely go back!

We return to The Lost Unicorn every year and are treated as family. Staff are lovely and have been there for at least the last 12 years. Owners are wonderful as well. Rooms not spacious, but very comfortable with excellent beds and windows. The roof top terrace and the lounges are delightfully comfortable. The food is especially of a top quality which would qualify as top Michelin Stars. The setting is a dream come true. So. Yes. I love this place and will continue to return.

This place ist just amazing 🤩 A very talented becoming true…trigger warning- one of the most romantic 💘 places you can go to ❤️ The interior design a mix between Lord of the rings the 🧚♀️ homes , The Durell Korfu trilogy and a British country house with hidden gems in every corner. Luscious Gärten around, perfect romantic lighting and, of cause, the magic treehouse where you can watch the ☄️ 🌟 💫 The rooms are quit small but have wonderful balcony and a big bath. The place is quiet and still the wonderful plaza and church next door to look at. The holy tree is the main attraction and everyone gathers around him in the evenings like a good friend.
The breakfast is just amazing, please try the omelette, one of the best I ever had.
The atmosphere is very welcoming and king, you can really feel the love 💕 and dedication of the owners in every corner of the house.
Perfect hide away with great beaches around 🙏🏻
Also good for families, playgrounds next door

I can truly say that I cannot think of any place I have ever been where I feel so surrounded by elegance and beauty as I do when I am at The Lost Unicorn. I've stayed here many times over the years and the food has always been excellent (both breakfast and dinner) and this year they have even managed to surpass the excellence of previous years. For dinner, they have a good choice of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as wonderful dishes with duck, chicken, lamb and beef. For the main course, I had Portobello Mushroom stuffed with Spinach, which was mouth-wateringly amazing. My husband had the chicken dish, which he says was exceptionally good. "The best chicken I have ever tasted" was his exact comment! And the Chocolate Cheesecake dessert was outrageously good.

Amazing place and ambience, a hidden little treasure. Beautiful plants and garden, it’s like you’re in a fairytale. The food is very tasty and as a vegetarian I was very surprised at the amount of options available to eat. The vegetarian burgers are a must and house made pita! Service is really friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend.

My wife and I visited during a walking holiday and wished we could have stayed more nights. Clare and Christos were hospitable and welcoming hosts. The hotel has a quirky almost magic feel to it with roof garden and hidden terraces complete with a tree house! The decor is one of multiple eras and collections. I would not be surprised if one of their wardrobes leads to Narnia.
We left something behind and the owners went out of their way to find us and get it back to us. Such willingness to help their guests is exceptional in any country.
The breakfast was amazing. Sadly the restaurant was closed when we were there. This would have topped a very special stay.

If you like unusual. If you like being cared for like close family. If you love waking up and going to sleep surrounded by beauty. If you like absolutely delicious breakfasts. If you like great showers, lovely bedclothes, cute little balconies. Then this gem is for you. Thank you Clare and Christos. You have a beautiful, no, gorgeous hotel. We loved being your guests.

What's the best way to get there are any flights from the UK to near by airports. and is car hire ok
Hi Peter
There are some flights to Volos airport this year; look at Volos Airport site to find which UK airports and the carrier. Car hire deals are best found on-line and most companies will deliver to airport or collect you in a minibus and take you to their office nearby.
It is about a 2 hour drive from Volos airport. Alternatively, Skiathos - then you catch a hydrofoil to the mainland and hire a car on;ine again to be delivered to the port. About a 1 hour and 15 min drive from volos centre.
Dear Ntragkon, thanks for noticing this "small anomaly". The funny thing is that this "Jack A" lady sometimes writes her reviews as a man and some times as a woman, all of her reviews of over 40 cities and locations were all written in one month, on July 2015 and nothing since or before. She also describes things that never actually happened, at least not here, so I would take everything s/he says, good or bad, with a pinch of salt and a lot of caution.
Thank you once again.
Regards
Christos
Yes I think it really depends on your travel style and what you want to do. The hotel itself is definitely comfortable enough for a week, if you're looking for a small hotel in beautiful surroundings to relax at. Its not a resort so there is no pool and the village its in is very small so only a few places to go nearby for restaurants, shops, etc. There are lots of really beautiful beaches nearby but you have to drive to them (or a super long hike) and the hiking (which we did very little of) is supposed to be beautiful with lots of marked trails in the area. I think we paid 80 euros per night. I would contact them directly to confirm though.
