the hotel is pleasant and they try to help as much as possible. But it is not 5 star. The pillows are inferior quality (card board), the mattress's are also not good quality, the towels are medium quality the bedding is cheap as is the furniture. Lots of places say 5 star but they misled you. Stay in a 'One and Only' or 'Ritz Carlton', they can't do enough to make you comfortable. The Nuraghi is really 3 1/2- maybe 4 star. They give you cheap chocolate on your bed 1 night out of 3.. We paid in late September almost $600 a night, certainly feel we were beat up!

I’ll start right off by saying our family has been blessed to stay in a wide range of accommodations across the world-some big, some small, some nice, some not so nice. We understand and empathize that COVID cratered the industry, and it may take time for things to get back to normal. Most importantly, we typically don’t write reviews unless we feel travelers like us would benefit from hearing about our experience that may be outside of what other travelers or reviews share, for better or worse. The Gran Relais de Nuraghi was the worst hotel experience we’ve had in 7 years of travelling the world. We were very excited to be experiencing Sardinia for the first time as an end of summer trip around the beautiful beaches and islands of Italy with my wife and 10-year-old stepdaughter. We booked a 4 night stay for just under $4,700 USD total. A bit out of our price range, but we felt it was justified given the high season in mid-August, during COVID, and that the hotel industry will still be in recovery mode for a long time and since it’s one of our passions as a family, it’s the right thing do to help the industry recover. Our check-in process started with a rude tone and a firm request for us to pay the booking in full. During check-in, we were informed that the hotel does not have wi-fi, but rather we’d be provided with mini routers roughly the size of a cell phone to ensure connection throughout the property. Initially this sounded very good, since our jobs require connectivity and doing work on vacation. After being driven to our room, several attempts to connect our devices were unsuccessful. We reached out to the front desk who told us to restart our devices (still didn’t work), followed by us asking for a different router (still didn’t work), only to be told by the receptionist that he’s heard from guests that the devices do not work on the property, and if we needed wi-fi, we would have to come to the lobby. He walked away without any further explanation. No sooner than 10 minutes later, as my wife was showering, the shower door broke off of its hinges and almost crashed on top of her. As she was trying to step over the door and grab a towel off the nearby rack, the rack partially broke off of the wall. We called the front desk to fix the issue and they sent a maintenance person over approximately 30 minutes later. The door was put back on the track, however, would easily come off whenever moved. Shortly afterward, my stepdaughter was showering and almost tripped over the drain cover that was broken on the shower floor. At this point we began to have significant concerns, but figured it was still early and to give the hotel beach a chance to relax, reflect, and figure out what to do next. The 5 minute walk to the hotel beach took us through a dirt path that had left over construction materials and trash. The beach is a challenge to swim as the shoreline is made up of many slippery rocks…definitely not good for children. At this point we started exploring our options if we wanted to move away from the hotel and go somewhere else. I went back to the front desk, informed them of our multiple concerns regarding the accommodation and safety, and asked to speak to a manager. I was told there was no manager on duty and they would be in the next morning (Monday). We decided to take a breather, explore some different hotel options, and go out to dinner nearby. Upon returning to our hotel room for the night, as we were getting into bed, we discovered the sheets were stained with either blood or cigarettes. In addition, the curtains had to be drawn over the front glass door, which was fine…except that the air conditioning unit was located above the door, so the AC unit had to be covered by the curtains creating a warm, loud night. This was enough for us…..we decided to check out after one night. On Monday morning I went to the front desk and asked to speak to a manager but was told there was no manager on duty yet. I told them we had significant concerns about the accommodation and safety of our room and would like to explore what the options would be if we checked out early. I was reminded by the receptionist that we booked a non-refundable rate and paid in full, and that there were no other rooms available. She offered to speak to her manager to consider a refund for the nights we didn’t stay if we decided to check out. We checked out of the hotel after one night, breathing a sigh of relief, but still upset about losing a day of our vacation to this ordeal. Later that day began the saga of the hotel initially (and thankfully) informing us that we would receive a refund for the remaining 3 nights of our stay. HOWEVER, After three weeks, multiple emails (some of which were rude from the hotel), and as of the writing of this review, the hotel has yet to issue any refund nor respond when they will do so. We have filed a dispute with our credit card company and hope this will be resolved. Fortunately for us, we were able to find a much nicer nearby hotel with amazing service and accommodations. We hope any traveler still reading takes our experience into account when considering the Gran Relais and moves on to a better and safer option worth their money and time.

The people working in the hotel are very professional, gave us a lot is useful for formation and organisation I’d our holidays! Good breakfast, with French fruits and local products! The problem was the WIFI, especially in the room! And the beach is not t he best.
