Cignella Resort was born from the transformation of an old farm with more than 200 years of history. In the past it has known really flourishing periods as a farm and cattle breeding, but when the needs of the owners have changed the farm has been transformed and expanded, as you see it today, into a small village, and it has become a modern and luxurious resort between Val d'Orcia and Val di Chiana, two of the most beautiful and famous valleys in the Siena's province. Without neglecting any detail and with an eye to the conservation of all the typical architectural elements of the place, the transformation of the estate began. The recovery was done using and bringing back to use the original materials, such as the roof beams, with traditional techniques to preserve their typical appearance of two centuries ago. Today Cignella Resort, due its strategic position, is the perfect starting point for those who want to experience Tuscany from the inside and thanks also to the particular layout of the structure, you will feel like you are living in a real small town. Each accommodation overlooks a large garden that almost acts as a square, at the same time everyone has their own reserved outdoor space in which to spend moments of tranquility with loved ones. You can live an experience of local life and at the same time discover and get to know the province of Siena with its villages and famous hills. The Resort offers its guests thirteen accommodations, all different from each other, in which it is possible to experience the essence of the place. Fully equipped, they are oriented towards ecological sustainability with latest generation appliances and a geothermal heating / cooling system. Each guest will have everything they need to feel at home and spend their stay in contact with local culture and traditions. At guests' disposal there are also an outdoor swimming pool, open during the hot season, a poolside solarium with umbrellas and sunbeds, a Wine bar where the lazy ones can also have breakfast and a Reception that will help you in everything and for all in the organization of time during your holidays in Tuscany. At last we recommend our guests to come to us with their own vehicle, in order to be able to move independently.

This beautiful retreat just hosted my 7-day writing retreat and took wonderful care of all 22 of us. They ordered desks and a projector and set up a teaching room for us and provided three meals a day (the breakfast buffet is spectacular). The airy, spacious villas are gorgeous, and the whole resort is so isolated that it was perfect for writing, reflection, and relaxation (the pool was a nice bonus). For when we wanted to explore the area, the resort arranged for a shuttle to bring us to a wine tasting (which they also arranged) and a shopping excursion to Montepulciano as well as a shuttle to go truffle hunting. They also set up a roundtrip shuttle to pick up/drop off our group in Rome. The whole experience was wonderful, start to finish! They are great at organizing large events.

I found Cignella through a Travelzoo deal and am so happy I did! My family rented a 2 bedroom Villa and a 3 bedroom Villa for 4 nights. The villas were enormous and beautifully decorated. The staff was wonderful and catering. The location is perfect for exploring Montelcino, Pienza and Montepulciano. Breakfast was served on a patio with a gorgeous view of the Tuscan landscape. We also went on a wine tasting and truffle hunt organized by the resort. Both were great activities. Pool are looked beautiful and well tended but, being late May, it wasn’t quite pool weather. The vibe there is very laid back and we were very happy to return from a long day of exploring to relax on our patio with wine, cheese and charcuterie before heading out to dinner. All that being said, this is not a luxury resort. Amenities are sparse, there is no housekeeping, we had to request a corkscrew, sharp knife and silverware for our happy hours, many of the windows don’t have screens so fresh air comes with bugs and some of the shower heads pump out more water than the drains can accommodate so the bathrooms flooded if we weren’t very quick or very careful. Overall, I loved our time there, I feel like with a few tweaks this place could level up and really be spectacular, as it is, I would still highly recommend it and would go back in a heartbeat.

Liked · Huge apartment. You hardly get that elsewhere for that price. Although apartment as big as 150m2 for two people is way too big, it provides a lot of comfort (we did not use two out of three rooms, but still). Apartment was having this Mediterranean feel coming out of it, yet it was modern. Location is perfect, it is away from everything and during the night it was really peaceful and quiet. Breakfast was also very good, staff is very kind and at the end of the stay we were already greeting each other from a distance (even if we met our cook in the nearby city shopping for groceries (15min by car)). Disliked · There is stone quarry maybe two kilometers away and if you have rooms facing it, you will hear it a bit. Nothing terrible, just they work until 5pm and then it´s silent everywhere. Pool is also there, but it could use some cleaning from here and there. maybe we came too early in the season (end of may/beginning of June). Last thing - something a person reserving accommodation in the middle of forest must understand - ants, bees, moths are part of the stay as well :)

Our first time in Tuscany, and it won’t be the last! My friend and I with our wives, went first to Rome for 2 nights (again the first time) and then spent 5 nights in Cignella in the beautiful 3 bedroom villa-Olivio. Great contrast from the buzz of Rome to the peace and quiet in Tuscany. Have never experienced such clean air, peaceful surroundings and fantastic scenery. We were also very lucky with the weather for end of October - 23 degrees and sun in the daytime, cooler evenings. The place is fantastic. Luca the general manger makes it extra special. He organised wine tasting, olive tasting, dinners and was always there for any help. Top bloke. You need a car, but the roads are very quiet, and the driving is fine - get a car with sat nav. You will experience stunning scenery on the roads! Want to now go once in early summer..

We've been to Cignella three times, and we will be back again. We like the stylish spacious furniture, the geo climate heating/cooling system. But its also a nice spot for families like us. And you are close to Montalcino and Montepuliciano an d all the other nice spots of tuscany.

I stayed in one of the villas with my partner in May 2019 and it took my breath away. The Cignella estate is nestled right in between Siena and Montelpuciano which makes it a great location from where you can drive to local attractions. The groundsman Luca is very friendly and had excellent knowledge of the local restaurants and attractions. The villas were very well kept and would cater perfectly for couples and families. I would strongly recommend staying here for anyone who wants a nice retreat or even an Italian adventure in the Tuscan valleys!

Had a great time in Cignella with friends. The scenery was beautiful and the villas have a great view on top of the hills. The staff were extremely friendly and even cooked for us a delicious meal one night and provided all the wine. They were also great help in booking us excursions and vineyard tours and even offered to drive us there! walkinf around the estate alone was lovely and there is a lot to explore. Would highly recommend Cignella to friends and family and go back again!

We stayed at Cignella for about six nights. Every morning, Luca - The Manager, made us breakfast and told us about Tuscany and the things he loved about Tuscany and gave us tips about what to do, or visit. The apartment / hotel room was very nice, clean and spacious. The Cignella park is perfect; well taken care of, clean, has a nice swimming pool and great views over the Tuscany landscape. We would definitely recommend it to others.

We were a group of 5 and loved how clean(!) and spacious Cignella was. Each of the three rooms were huge and all had their own bathroom, which was a luxury. In addition, the living space and kitchen are both very large as was the back patio. The staff was super friendly and helpful and very communicative, which made the booking, check-in and check-out processes a breeze. Cignella is perfect for families or groups who are looking for anything ranging from a short 3-day stay (which was all we had time for this trip) to a longer-term stay. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend Cignella to friends and family. Tip - don't forget to bring your own toiletries. Towels and linens included, but soap/shampoo and laundry detergent for your in-unit washing machine are not.
