3night stay in a privately owned lodge which was faultless and had a stunning lake view. Takeaway slots from the restaurant were limited, meaning you had to book for tea at breakfast time in order to eat at an appropriate time. Food was excellent though! Lovely clean site but the service at the bar/ restaurant was appalling. 1st visit we waited 40mins to order a drink and had to chase down staff in order to ask them to serve us (table service only). Second visit, 30mins waiting to order drinks and a further 20mins before drinks arrived (not good, especially with a thirsty toddler in tow) And then we had to chase down staff in order to pay our bill. 3rd visit our drinks order was taken promptly but took 20mins for drinks to arrive as only 1 staff member was old enough to serve alcoholic beverages (this is what staff told us). Asked 3 seperate staff members what desserts where available (they didn't know and said they would find out and come back to us....they didnt) before going inside after a lengthy wait in order to find a menu. Had to ask a staff member to come and serve us once we had seen a menu and then go back inside to find someone in order to pay our bill before we could leave. The fencing around the outdoor eating area was in disrepair (loose posts and exposed screws) and the steps down to the 'beach' would benefit from handrails to prevent falls as the steps were quite slippery due to sand being on them (which can't be helped). The site itself is spotlessly clean, lawned areas are well maintained and it has a very relaxing atmosphere but it would benefit from a small shop stocking essentials (bread, milk etc), more dog poo bins and some signage/info regarding waste bin location. Would holiday here again but would bring more food/drinks in order to avoid using the restaurant/bar.

After paying the extra for a platinum lodge with a lake view, was very disappointed on arrive to have a lodge not up to spec, in the corner off the site right on top of the M6, totally understand sites location but when you pay extra for platinum and lake view you would expect that, unfortunately nobody could help and didn’t want to help with this complaint, as well as no view we didn’t get a washing machine, as stated.
Tried to not let this spoil the holiday but the next day the was no electricity from 9am -5pm so couldn’t make a hot drink or watch Tv, when it was torrential rain all day (totally understand can’t predict the weather) but I would of been common curtesy to be told this before hand, not when walking into the wrong cabin!
With Covid 19 you have to book a slot for the gym or pool, you can only do this once you have your pass to use facilities, you receive this at check in, by then, the week if full up with no slots or hardly any slots available, we did manage to get one slot but one child was unable to swim because only 3 places available and it’s one adult per child, even though the child was 13, with full swimming badges, totally understand new rules with Covid but this would be nice to be told also, before hand, not very good if you have a family of 5 or more or a single parent with 2 children.
Over all didn’t let this spoil our Hoilday, life to short as we all know, definitely won’t be going back to this site, nothing worse when you are getting lied to in your face, would prefer to get told the truth instead of people thinking your soft!
SLLV did give me a £30 Voucher for the the 4 of us to get some breakfast and drink the day the electricity was off with not being able to make a drink or a meal this didn’t even cover the food bill, they didn’t serve breakfast and food does not start till 12, ended up spending £65 on 4 drinks and 4 meals!
If you do get a lake view, you can still hear the m6 through the night but not as bad as when the is only a few bushes behind you!

Peaceful and relaxing holiday park. There’s not a lot to do here but the little lake is lovely and it’s a good location for day trips to the local area and the lakes. The lodge was nice and we enjoyed the hot tub as it had a roof so we could use it even when raining. Our oven was broken and we got a £20 restaurant voucher and told to use the microwave on convection but it wasn’t ideal for a family of five and the food didn’t taste great from it. A bigger voucher would have been appreciated but it’s a small criticism.

This site is nothing but a money grabbing business with no actual care for if their customers enjoy the stay. The lodge we booked advertised that it was on the lake with a really nice interior, when we arrived we found our lodge which was situated no where near a lake with old fashioned interior, the lodge had no soap to wash your hands with and only 2 toilet rolls for all of us. It was also limited on glasses and cutlery in the drawers. To say the amount of money paid we expected it to look like the pictures or atleast have something to wash your hands with. To make matters worse my car parked next to the lodge on the grass got stuck in the mud due to their poorly maintained grass, I also noticed it already had skid marks on from other cars struggling to get off the grass also. When I went to reception to ask if they had a rope to help pull it out I was greeted by what I assume was the “manager” (I feel sorry for the staff who have him as their boss). He was nothing but rude with no customer service, telling me I had to pay for the damage to his grass and £150 for them to help me get my car out of the grass. No concern for my car, only his *already ruined grass before I got there*. He tried to patronise me and talk to me as if he was a teacher due to me being a young girl, probably unaware I would give it him back and refuse to pay him a penny. We ended up getting my car out by going buying a £6 rope and tying it to a member of our party’s car and it was out in 2 seconds (laughable he thought he could try and charge £150). I have family members who own a lodge on this site (paying them thousands a year) who have been shocked by this same managers attitude, don’t bite the hand that feeds you little man. This site is just nothing but a shambles so if you stay here god forbid you have any problems as you will not be helped to resolve them, only greeted with rudeness.

Somebody higher up in that place needs to get rid of the rude male manager as all he is doing is ruining your business. When you give stupid people too much power they run away with it, I’m glad I ruined the grass as it confirmed why I (and my very large family who have stayed here a lot over summer) will not be returning.

I've been a member of the gym for must 15 plus years now.During later part of 2020 when they were allowed to open with Covid restrictions they implemented a 'close every hour for deep clean 'policy, with those using the gym banned from the lockers/showers,and we were expected to be out on the hour, the same for those in the pool, but the staff are to scared of either customers to say anything or their bosses to get the swimmers to comply so they were coming out 10 past the hour 15 past the hour drips and drabs so the staff meant to be doing the deep cleaning were not and were for ever at door looking them out.
I went this week to show face and restart training since they have been closed again for 4&1/2 months since Christmas .sat in car for 10minutes because guess what they are still doing the open 1 hour /closed half hour rubbish.
All this was causing was a group of people queuing to be allowed in when I pointed this out to the staff they said the help people social distance outside was nothing to do with them but the staff didn't grass that the closing and opening was causing this bottleneck rather than people's arriving as and when they arrived ?!

I've now joined another gym (with much new equipment) thats further away, but i don't mind that because hay guess what their open 0630 till 2200 and continuing cleaning and record track and trace with your membership swipcard...not a grubby Covid ridden pen used by everyone to write name/emal/phone number ( easily falsified)...when Pure Leisure used to log you in with a membership card,no wonder 700members are down to 300,but hay we have a choice use whats available locally, which closes every 60 minutes or travel an extra 5 mies, but the owners not bothered ,made his money so happy to let place drag itself in to oblivion

Having owned a lodge on the site which we used to let out I feel we are suitably qualified to judge the standard of cleaning that takes place here. We now do not let out the lodge partly due to issues around cleaning. The company take 30% of your revenue for their running of the let and they also charge £75 to clean and change the sheets (rising to £95 in August). Many let’s are for 3 and 4 days so a weekly cleaning bill could shortly be £190. For this you expect a premium service. Unfortunately I have a catalogue of pphotographs of poor cleaning. I note all the previous managers replies that thank reviewers for comments and pass them on to the management team to review! I speak to the manager and then find the same issues the next time!
I would also endorse the number of comments re lack of facilities for children. The company appear to be OK with squeezing extra lodges into any vacant space but do not appear Ok with providing the requisite facilities for all their guests.

Hello, thank you for your review. Cleaning is done by a independent company and any time that we are made aware of poor standards it is passed back to the cleaning company to resolve. We also don't advertise that we provide lots of facilities for children, we do have a swimming pool and there is a play park that children can use across at our sister park Yealands.

The lodges were lovely, big and spacious, and done to a high standard- lovely touches such as the free standing bath in our en suite. The hot tub was lovely and enjoyed by all of us.
We did have a couple of issues but they were dealt with very swiftly.
One thing that annoyed me slightly is that Platinum lodges on the website are described as being in prime locations either overlooking the lake (which is lovely) or views of the mountains. We had views of neither (stayed in Sherwood 45). Our view was that of a few trees.
Also, an issue for me was the constant noise of cars from the motorway, which spoiled this holiday from being truly relaxing. For this reason I wouldn't book this particular holiday village again. I would, however, look at the other locations owned by Pure Leisure as I thought the price for the quality of the lodge was very reasonable.
We didn't use the pool as my daughter had a broken arm at the time of travelling. We didn't eat in the restaurant ( they weren't participating in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme so we dined elsewhere). We used the takeaway service on our last night- all meals were lovely apart from my daughters pizza which was burnt on the base.
In summary, if the noise of the motorway wouldn't bother you then I can highly recommend this holiday park.

We booked and stayed on Borwick lake via a private host. Everything was great until it came to the services apparently provided by south leisure lakes! No body answers the phone to make bookings for the pool or restaurant. When on holiday we like to enjoy the facilities onsite and not have to travel far, one of the reason of booking a complex rather than a caravan site with no facilities.
First night we went down to the restaurant to be advise they were fully booked and the kitchen couldn't handle anymore bookings. There were 2 people inside and approx 10/12 tables outside. 1 table was eating.
The next day we tried all day to call and book a table for our evening meal while we were out but no one answered. Arrived back after our day out about 3 and went into the bar to book to be told full for the rest of the week! Great!
Spent the rest of the week travel off site for meals.
My advice if your booking via a private host is to ask about bookings, once in our caravan the information left advised you could book the week before you arrived.

Hello, thank you for your review. During peak summer season we receive a lot of requests for bookings in the restaurant and the swimming pool. You now don't have to book for the swimming pool as part of the latest government information but the restaurant is very hard and is done solely on bookings and unfortunately they do fill up fast. Kind Regards.

A very frustrating stay and this could be so much better! The location is good just off the M6 and about 30 minutes from Windermere etc.. the cabins/caravans with cladding around them are very nice although the walls are paper thin, only other issue for us personally was the noise of the traffic from the motorway meant we couldn’t keep our windows open of a night time. But my main complaint is that there is no recycling on site! Now I’m no green warrior but we are all accustomed to doing the basics of separating what can be recycled from the waste but no bins were supplied so all waste had to just be thrown away together 😡 also there are no bins by the lodges so you have either have a fair walk or as I saw people filling their cars up to go to the bins! The second issue was the poor excuse of a bar/restaurant, they had a totally captive audience but no effort was made. No themed food nights, no breakfast for the days your leaving early or going home, very slow poor service on the one day we did go. Food was bland and typical pre made mass market pub food. It’s such a shame as I say it could be so much better. The pool is nice but a rediculus booking system that meant we could only go swimming once in the week, despite being told at the time of arrival on site that there is no issue with booking swimming slots and being sold two passes. It’s not a terrible place but could be so much better

Hello, thank you for your review. I want to reassure you that while we do only have the single rubbish collection point, our waste management partners sort and recycle all material once it is removed from site. This allows us to reduce the size of our rubbish collection area, and means fewer large waste collection vehicles need to visit the site. I am sorry that the Waters Edge restaurant didn't meet your expectations on this occasion. In order to maintain social distancing for our kitchen team we have had to run a reduced menu but hope restrictions will ease shortly. We have also introduced a second outdoor catering option to improve guest experience. Once again to maintain social distancing we must reduce the capacity of the pool and use a booking system, again we hope these restrictions will not be in place much longer. I hope this addresses your concerns as we do take recycling and guest experience very seriously. Kind Regards.

Disgusting place. Turned up for a 5 star luxury break. Ended up cleaning the place for the first few hours. Manger came next day after waiting in and said he'd deal with it. That's as far as it went as he went on leave till after we left. Been offered 10% back which equates to £4.80 each per night. Insulting and an embarrassment. If anyone knows the owner of Lakeside 25 please ask then to contact me. I don't think they'd be happy paying fees and cleaners when it looks like it's not been cleaned for weeks

Hello May we start by thanking you for your feedback, at Pure Leisure Group we always welcome any honest and accurate reviews and will always strive to rectify any issues raised, however in this instance we would like to clarify some points raised. - We were not aware of any of the issues you have raised here until the day after check in, if you felt that strongly about these things and indeed if they were accurate why weren’t they brought to our attention immediately? - Our manager, on the day after you had checked in, did immediately visit the lodge as per your request, he then returned later with another member of staff and rectified the issues brought to his attention. At this point the blind was not damaged and you made no mention of the towels, therefore we can only believe they were damaged later. You were given an apology at this point and an assurance that the matters you had raised would be dealt with. - We have put to you an offer of compensation as well as a discount on your next booking by way of apology. - We have also made the owner of the lodge aware of the of the correct events of this matter. May we suggest for all future bookings, any problems are brought to the attention of our staff immediately to enable us to resolve them. For the benefit of anyone reading this, we can assure you that given the opportunity we will always do our utmost to ensure that any problems are rectified.
