Once again had a lovely relaxing week at Standing Gables with the family. Have been enjoying wee holidays here for 10 years now and this week was just what we all needed to recharge for school and work. Yummy breakfast, clean room and beautiful setting. Sandra & Alan always look after us so well. Clocks go back this weekend - pleased we will get an extra hour in our comfy beds!

I attended a family wedding in Oldmeldrum, the hotel was booked out by the bridal party so the rest of us had to find local B&B's. As the hotel recommended this one we were delighted. The booking of, was straightforward and on arrival we were delighted and surprised by the welcoming we got. Lovely family atmosphere and we felt right at home. The bedrooms were spotless and larger than some hotels I've stayed in. The setting is beautiful and was really handy for the various places we visited while up. We booked 2 nights but stayed on a third. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast was so good, best fry up I've had in ages! Even my healthy eating daughter was impressed with the selections. My brother and his wife also decided to stay on a third night and on our recommendation chose this B&B! Thanks to Sandra and the whole family for taking us in - hope we weren't too much trouble! Hopefully there will be another family gathering soon and we'll be back to visit.

This was a lovely B&B and the hostess Sandra was very welcoming and friendly, she even organised taxi's to collect us after a night out which were very reasonable. The decor is very simple and the rooms clean, we took over all of the top floor as we were two families with children. Sandra even made up a small bed for our youngest so we could all be in one room, The garden was large so the children had plenty of room to play and there was a summer house with comfy chairs to sit out in later in the day. Breakfasts were organised at a time to suit ourselves and cooked to order.

Myself and my 2 small daughters and my parents are just back from a week at the Standing Gables. Wow !!! Firstly what a great location to go visiting local sites etc !!!!
The rooms are fantastic & so clean !! And i have to say what comfortable beds !!!!! I really couldn't believe how comfy it was !!! Evem ny daughter of 4 and a half commented !!!!
The surroundings are absolutely gorgous !!!! The garden is so child friendly, and is huge !! The kids thoroughly enjoyed having the run of the place and trying to play on the giant chess board.
The breakfasts well they were just lovely !! Full English( Scottish !!) yum yum yum or cereal or whatever you fancy !! And now the best bit !!!!
Sandra and Alan and the rest of the family if they pop in !! You could sell this place on family atmosphere alone !!!
Such nice people, nothing is too much trouble. I really felt this having 2 small kids as well. We had a shower room onsuite, but Sandra didn't mind me using the bathroom to bath the kids and even let me borrow conditioner because i had forgot to pack mine !!
All in all really I cannot express what a nice experience I had taking my girls away for the first time on my own. I will definately be going back !!!

Me and my colleague stayed at this B&B for 2 nights during September this year and could not fault it in the slightest; every room was spotlessly clean and tidy. The location and views were simply awe-inspiring.

Our stay was made all the more pleasing because of the warmth and friendliness shown to us by the hostess Sandra. From leaving chocolates on our pillows to ordering taxi’s to and from Aberdeen,
and all done with a smile, the service was way beyond anything I have experienced before or after.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this B&B to anyone visiting the area. And I will be booking up again in the near future.

This picturesque bed and breakfast was a true joy to stay at. The setting, the room, the owner everything was first class the only thing I would complain about was that I didn't get to stay longer. Very helpful staff, clean room and the view from my room was breathtaking. Highly recommend this accommodation for anyone who is wanting a truly memorable holiday.

I stayed at this beautiful house with an Australian friend as we were touring round the North of Scotland. I am originally from Scotland but now live in Fiji. The hosts are excellent and make you feel like you are part of their home. They are very accommodating for letting you use their kitchen and other parts of the house - which is a beautiful house set in amazing gardens.

The hosts were so accommodating that they even gave us a lift to a friends house that was about 5km's away - service above and beyond what is expected.

I would strongly recommend this accommodation to anyone passing through this area.

If you go you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the stay.

Roy and Ray.

Where shall I start? Good thing first: the location is good: not far from a main road and a beautiful view on Bennachie mountain. But.....
A B+B with allegedly 3 rooms? Between 8pm and 11pm ( noise!) 9 vans turned up to fill the parking (= danger in case of a fire!). The B+B seems to be a side business as a lot of ( legal???) workmen "reside" there during a number of months.Result: noise from showers and smell of cooked breakfast in the whole house from 5.45am! At first sight a spacious, nice room! But: no toiletries but a used bar of soap, very thin towels, no glasses nor even plastic tumblers,no wardrobe nor cupboard in room, loads of private stuff under the beds, "private" on the roomdoor,no light above or by second bed, not decently flushing toilet, very few sockets in room... Here and there we found a lot of dust as well and the bathroom was only average clean. The breakfast was frankly appalling: probably cooked at 6am with the others and held warm ( lukewarm), no choice given between coffee and tea until after the breakfast, tasteless, burned toast, poor quantities and very poor quality products...
This B+B was so far our worst experience in the whole of Britain and certainly not worth its money!!

Room Tip: We don't know how the other rooms were, but the double room is not worth its money.

I stayed here for one night on a september weekend.
The room was very tidy which i couldn't fault but the advertised Sky TV in the rooms is false. We never had it !
No tea and coffee facilities in the room and for £50 a night, i thought that wasn't value for money.
We arrived late admittedly around 9pm, I think the hostess did not feel like making too much of an effort in making us feel welcome although it has to be said, she was pleasent enough.
Breakfast was ok although we never got offered cereal despite her knowing that we were vegetarians. Once again i felt she did not feel like making the effort and when you pay £50 a night, you kind of expect a little more ...well i know i do.
The location is lovely i must admit and great for finding all the stone circles littered around the place.
I would not go back to this B&B basically because i feel i could get better value elsewhere.
