The Kingswood Hotel garners appreciation for its cleanliness and hospitable vibe, with guests often finding the rooms to be tidy. While some travelers consider the hotel to offer good value, others question the cost-benefit balance. The dining options receive compliments for variety and taste, though the ambiance and breakfast selection could see enhancements.
Staff friendliness and efficiency are frequently praised, despite occasional service hitches. The atmosphere is a blend of cozy charm and areas in need of rejuvenation. Room experiences are varied, with modern touches and views weighed against concerns of odors and datedness.

Five of us decided to try the VIP (Very Important Pensioner’s) lunch menu yesterday which is on offer at The Kingswood Hotel, and what a wonderful experience it was! We had a very warm welcome on arrival and the service was impeccable, as was all the food. We each had a starter - prawn cocktail for four of us and lentil soup for one. We then chose from the main menu which included chicken Jalfrezi, sausage, mash and onions and ham egg and chips! Each one of us said our meal was delicious and nothing was left on the plates! Two courses for £9.95 (or 3 courses for £12.95) is a terrific price and I can’t recommend it enough - but hurry as I believe this menu only lasts until end March. Thank you to all the staff - we’ll be back soon.

Amazed at a few of the recent negative reviews on here! This hotel is simply a wonderful place to unwind which the friendly, engaging, professional staff create with their smiles and eagerness to please. Our room was as described with a sea view and balcony. Although rather small, it was adequate. One slight negative was that the shower was a climb into the bath tub, wall mounted one which would present difficulties for those guests with any disabilities or age issues! Our included breakfast was reasonable, if limited, in choice, but was always cooked and prepared to order. We had dinner here two out of three nights and the menu, if a tad limited, was varied. A big plus was the inclusion of a number of Indian “chef specials”. I had the butter chicken with pilau rice which was beautifully prepared. There were other options for those who want a more British meal! A tip if you are travelling by train or intend to use the train during your stay, Kinghorn is the nearest Station not Burntisland. Both stations are great for a full day in Edinburgh as we experienced. These few negatives are, indeed, just that, and overall the hotel presents an excellent customer experience and is also great value for money. Thank you to all for a very enjoyable stay.

We booked through hotels.com in Nov 2023 for an overnight stay in May 2024 as part of the Fife Coastal Path walk. On the day we called ahead to also book a table for dinner, to be told that we had no booking and it had been cancelled. They weren't able to tell us who had cancelled it, had no rooms available that night, and quickly ended the call as they were busy hosting a wedding. We sent a copy of our confirmation and receipt of payment to an email address they gave, and tried to call back - no answer. Called from another phone and they did answer. Make of that what you will...
There was no solution offered or apology given. Realising it wasn't going to be an option to stay there we tried in the region of 20 other hotels in Fife, all of which were fully booked for the bank holiday weekend. It was becoming apparent that since our booking the hotel had received a wedding enquiry and cancelled us to accommodate it. I would guess that someone had meant to cancel it on the system and didn't, leaving the team on the day to deal with two very unhappy walkers who were blindsided by this news. With no car, and no other options for accommodation that night we made our way to the train station and headed over to Edinburgh to stay with family, who were gracious enough to help us out. A train back the next morning let us resume our walk, albeit a bit later.
Mistakes happen, and it's perfectly feasible that some booking system glitch caused this whole issue. But that's not really the problem here. Even giving an overly generous benefit of the doubt we could say that because the staff on the day were dealing with a wedding they didn't handle our issue in a supportive or understanding way. Even if we forgive those indiscretions, what really stings is the fact I write this a week down the line having had no communication. The dust has settled and surely by now someone could have explained what happened or apologised? But no, nothing. We all make mistakes and have bad days but to make no effort to reach out and resolve them is such a poor show.
To anyone considering booking - at the very least call ahead to confirm, but ideally find another hotel who actually value their customers. Several others we called were kind and sympathetic, despite having no rooms available. Particular shout out to The Caledonian in Leven who were lovely, gave us some suggestions and understood our situation. We weren't even their customers and they dealt with us infinitely better than the Kingswood. Maybe give them a call, they could teach your team a thing or two!

We have just returned home after a very relaxing weekend away at this lovely family run hotel. Right from check-in, we were made to feel so welcome and were greeted by Kathryn, the owner, who took us up to our room personally and provided all the information we needed re the restaurant, bar, shop and breakfast times etc. We had booked a room with a sea view and balcony (room 5) and the room was spotless and very comfortable with patio doors leading out to the balcony. And boy what a view to wake up to - looking out across the Firth of Forth to Edinburgh. Gorgeous! We had booked dinner for both Friday and Saturday nights and everything we ordered was delicious and of excellent quality as was the wine which went down a wee treat! Breakfast was hot, tasty and plentiful - perfect for setting you up for the day. All areas of the hotel were lovely, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The hotel has a well maintained garden area out front and a public balcony area on the first floor for guests to sit in and enjoy the views and is situated in a lovely spot leading out of Burntisland and heading towards Kinghorn with lovely walkways along the coast either all with stunning views too. The icing on the cake with this hotel is the staff. They were all so genuinely cheery and friendly and also very professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Particular mention to Mark behind the bar who looked after us and sourced some Limoncello for me after dinner and last but no means least David, the Manager, who as well as working his socks off (one minute he would be managing reception then the next he would be working in the restaurant) always took the time to have a chat with guests and a wee banter too. Thank you for everything David and for looking after us!! A wee visit to the shop area round by reception is also advised as it stocked some lovely wee items and gifts. Would definitely recommend a visit to this wee gem of a place and we will definitely be back.

Hello Maureen. Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your review of us here at the Kingswood Hotel & Tall Trees Restaurant, we really do appreciate you taking the time to do that. I am super delighted that right from the very start, our lovely Owner Kathryn made you feel like you were at home, this is most certainly how we wish all our guests to feel, after all, it's our home so should be yours also. Oh wow, room 5, one of my firm favorites I must say, the view is just stunning isn't it! Maureen I'm just overwhelmed by your review, normally such positive reviews make my week but yours has made my month if not year. I have passed your comments onto Mark and as for myself, I enjoy my job xo much that sometimes I forget I'm actually managing the hotel lol. Once again, thank you so so much for your review, it really does mean allot to myself & the team. I hope to be able to welcome you back soon and now that I know you love room 5, of course I'll do my best to accommodate you in this room. Many thanks & hugs, David

Mon Saturday 20th August we attended an all day wedding, as it was an all day and night event we booked up with the kings wood hotel. We checked in at 2pm and dumped all our stuff quickly in the room and back to the wedding downstairs. The room was a family room that was described for 2 adults and 2 children. I just want to quickly say first of all that all the staff at the wedding were more than friendly and helpful. They were always so polite and attentive! When booking in to the hotel the receptionist didn’t feel very welcoming, reminded us that we wernt to make much notice from the wedding as there were other guests staying, but it’s niw ironic that they other guests were the ones that had kept us up!
This review is for the room that we were given. Price for an over night stay was £150 we were told on the phone that we would be given a balcony view, when getting to the room there was no balcony! The room and toilet had dust all over it, the side table was broken with the door knobs fallen of, at the end of the night after the wedding finished at 12 midnight, we went upto the room and wanted to have a shower as had been sweating with dancing all night. Turned the hot water on to have a shower/bath and there was no hot water! Nothing atall! Even if I did want to have a shower I than found later that there was no towels in our bedroom! And this bedroom was for a family of 4! So no towels for the 4 of us, when we were getting ready for bed the little one said that she was still cold even though she had her quilt over her, I went down the stairs to try and get reception but there wasn’t anyone there! There was no one around for me to ask if there was an extra duvet so we had to take her in her in beside us. For it being a king size bed I’ll tell you there wasn’t much room it felt more like a double bed! there were three room from the wedding that had children in them including mines and all rooms each had an adult with them sleeping in that room. By the time we all settled down for the night and went to sleep was around 1/1.30 am, I eventually fell asleep only to be woken up by chap door run from some other guests that wernt at the wedding. I’ve been in budget-higher end hotels and unfortunately I do not rate this hotel room for £150!
Breakfast was another issue that we had! It definitely was not worth the £10 that I paid for! 1 slice of bacon, 1 egg, 1 sausage, half a circle of haggis & half a circle of black pudding! The portion of toast that was handed had mild on it, I had to ask for it to be taken back.
Outside after eating breakfast I went over the the smoking area, only to be greeting by a dead blackbird in the pond, the pont was a sluggish green that was not appealing what so ever! This was after we had seen the grounds men at the front of the building cleaning up but still hadn’t attended to the dead bird in the pool.
When checking out and letting the manager know if all these issues and that our bedroom doors were being knocked by other guests his response was that all our children were running around at 3am in the morning, but I did state that all of the family that stayed over that night we were all upstairs and in bed for 1/1.30am all 3 rooms having parents in the room besides the children. So it definitely couldn’t have been any of our children as we were all asleep.
As I said above I cannot fault any of the staff working at the wedding, they were friendly, attentive and polite!

A fantastic 80th birthday celebration dinner for 40 people was held in the conservatory. The food was excellent, the attention and service was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were lovely and so attentive. Ten people stayed overnight after the event and had a very restful night in beautiful bedrooms with very comfortable beds. The rooms, like the rest of the hotel, were spotless.

Stayed here 18-21 July 2022, three of the hottest days in recent times. Hotel is charming, quaint, traditional and we really enjoyed all it had to offer. Staff are lovely, balcony room great, delicious food, grounds stunning to sit in. I would suggest some trimming of the trees to give a wider view of the Firth of Forth from balcony rooms but this may not be possible. Also, a return to an element of buffet style breakfast where guests can help themselves to juices etc would be an advantage but there may be reasons why this has not been reinstated. I can't understand any negative reviews of this hotel. It is very reasonably priced for these times and offers a traditional experience in a beautiful setting.

We booked to go to the Kingswood Hotel for Mothers Day as we had been before and hadn't been disappointed. Family members all made an effort to go as our diaries are busy these day so it was nice to celebrate Mothers Day together.
Where the hotel is situated is lovely with easy access into the hotel and free parking
Unfortunately the high tea wasn't good. The meal choices were limited and a chicken meal cost extra. The cakes and scones were either cheap shop bought or if made then very disappointing and personally we could have made better ones. The child's menu had a dessert option which never arrived, We waited an over an hour to get tea and coffee and had to ask several staff on numerous occasions. The staff were lovely but not enough staff on shift to cover the number of people who had booked in for high tea. We were overcharged but that was sorted out when advised of the error. Staff did apologise to us several times over the course of the afternoon. Overall our family were very disappointed and this hotel unless they improve things wont be one we will be visiting anytime soon.
