Detailed Reviews
Woodland Gardens is a perfect camp site. We have visited twice before the latest stay this weekend and I'm not sure why we haven't been more!
It's small, but not at all cramped. It's beautifully manicured and the owners take great care to keep it looking beautiful with pots of colourful flowers throughout.
I don't think I've ever used cleaner toilets and showers in a site.
It's location is right next to a woodland walk which is great for taking the dogs first thing in the morning. Lower Largo is a short walk down the hill and has a beautiful beach (and pubs and cafe) with forms part of the Fife Coastal Route for longer walks. We once walked too far with our older dog and I can attest to the bus service back from Elie being easy 😊.
I am terrible for being a review reader but not a writer. However, due to the current situation with Covid-19 and this being the first weekend Woodland Gardens has been open I wanted to positively comment on their great efforts for theirs and their customer's safety.
Firstly, before we arrived we watched the safety video on their website. As soon as I watched this I knew we had made the right choice for our first journey over 5 miles and our first camp trip of the year!
All the changes they have implemented - temp check, masks in reception, foot opening bins, one family only at dish washing area and the foot operated "busy" red lights at loos mean that we felt 100% safe but in no restricted.
Thank you both x

Really glad you enjoyed your stay especially as you are a returning visitor as we were not sure if people would find the changes too restrictive, but the feedback from yourself and others has put our minds at rest. Your review means a lot to us and potential customers as during these difficult times positive reinforcement is very helpful when choosing your campsite. Thanks, Jan & Craig

This has to be a ‘Jewel in the Crown’ campsite. The couple who own the site are perfect hosts and so welcoming. The site itself looks beautiful, a mass of colour and well groomed pitches. It is a small, adults only site in a great location to explore Fife, visit St Andrews and all the small towns along the coastal path. If you don’t want to drive there is a regular bus service a short walk from the site. Trips to the Isle of May is a must even after the puffins have left and if you are lucky you might get to see a puffing set free on the sea from the boat. We had a fabulous time at Woodland Gardens campsite and will return for another warm welcome.

Thanks for the great feedback. Jan had a bit longer this year to prepare her flowers so we are pleased that they are appreciated. Look forward to seeing you back sometime in the future. Jan & Craig

I stayed in posh pod 'Hansel' with my dog, Floss. I was made to feel most welcome on this small, peaceful site. The site, pod and amenities were immaculate. The site only covers an acre I believe but it has been very well thought out and is very well maintained. Little touches such as the tubs of flowers around the site, free toiletries etc made a big impact. My pod was lovely - cozy and plenty of room for relaxing (which was the point of my weekend away). The bed was comfortable and the pod was spotless, as were the showers/loos. The Covid measures in place were very good yet didn't take anything away from my holiday break. Although I was alone (with the dog), I felt safe on site (both with the Covid measures and in general). My only criticism (which is only very minor) is that a small bedside shelf to put my phone/book/cup of tea on may be useful and possibly a toaster would be nice but these are minor details on what I found was a lovely little gem of a site. Judy & Craig deserve much credit for what they have created here. Keil's Den across the road was a lovely place for dog walks and great to find a dog bin there. Being only a couple of hours away I have found my perfect bolthole to escape the stresses of everyday life. I will return.

Back visiting the Woodland Gardens, two or three years since last there. Stayed in Gretel again, very well maintained pod and a comfy bed. The whole site is well maintained and extremely clean, Craig and Jan have made a huge effort to follow SD guidelines, the red light system showing if the toilets are occupied is very clever. Nice quiet site, great views and in easy walking distance of the three local villages. Hope to go back again soon.

We could not praise this campsite any more. The owners were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in later than usual. Through out our stay they checked in on us to make sure everything was as it should be. They also gave great recommendations with places to visit, food to eat and places to walk the dog. We stayed in a glamping pod that had everything we needed. The best part was it was completely enclosed with a gate so we could let the dog out to wander on the decking.
What makes this campsite so special is it is small and cosy , with limited pitches which prevents noise and makes it a pleasant experience for everyone. I was most impressed with the toilet/shower block. It is definitely the nicest, cleanest and most cared for toilet block I’ve ever been in. To make it welcoming and homey the owners have included little baskets of toiletries you can help yourself to if you’ve forgotten anything. The best thing is all the little poems around the place to encourage people to treat the campsite with respect for the owners and the other campers. We will definitely be back.

Just back from 3 nights in one of the Pods (Hansel). Wish we’d booked for longer! This campsite is the cleanest site we’ve ever stayed on. Covid measures are first class, no worries at all. Toilets and showers are spotless, Jan (owner) must clean these numerous times each day. The grounds are so tidy, with wee planters around it. Great walk across the road, and so close to many stunning beaches. We will definitely be back!

Thanks for the kind words. We are encouraged with the positive feedback regarding our changes, from the information video on line to the real-time use of the site when you arrive. We are also pleased that all of our campers have been embracing the changes and being ultra cautious regarding contact with others during these uncertain times. Jan & Craig

OK, this is post lock down, sort of, but the effort, planning, and hygiene the owners of this campsite use is fantastic, hand gel, cleaning regimes, facilities bock control, temperature checked on entry. Many larger organisations could learn something. The site is quiet, manicured, adults only and well maintained. Its good, no ifs, no buts, the stress just melts away. On site are a few glamping pods, and standings for tourers, no tents for the moment. Good dogs allowed. I was in two minds about reviewing, it's great, why should I tell anyone, but when you find something this good maybe I should share.

Thanks for the positive feedback and thanks for reviewing as it does help as many people rely heavily on reviews for the "true" picture of the site and not just the glossy brochures or websites. We put a lot of effort in to developing the Covid 19 changes and simply implemented things we would like to see and experience if we were camping. Regards, Jan & Craig

This small adult only caravan site is first class. The site is kept immaculate by owners Craig and Jan. The grass is 'manicured' and there are flowers in tubs everywhere. There is a comfortable Recreation Room as seen in my photos here. The toilet block is always kept clean with toiletries available if needed. This area, The Neuk of Fife, has many places of interest to visit and you will love the many beaches and the woodland walks eg. Letham Glen in Leven.

A very relaxed and highly enjoyable stay. We booked to stay in one of the posh pods “Heidi”. A very peaceful and well decorated accommodation. With its own little space, it’s perfect for a wee getaway.
We were pleasantly welcomed with service with a smile when we arrived on site by the owner, she explained everything to us and made us feel right at home away from home.
A dog friendly site with beautiful local woodland surroundings perfect to go for walks.
The shower/toilet/dish washing facilities were exceptionally clean.
All I can say is 5* all round, thank you for making our stay as enjoyable as it was. We will return and recommend to others.

Very peaceful and tranquil stay. Excellent hosts. Toilets and shower rooms were absolutely spotless. We stayed in Hansel pod which was located a few steps away from the toilets and shower cubical, and dish washing area. Our pod had a bbq, picnic bench and two chairs and a table. Inside we had a kettle, fridge, heater, microwave, mugs, table and two chairs. Tv had a dvd port and a huge selection of dvds were in the games room. The games room had a a pool table large sofa and tv. Absolutely brilliant time. Plenty of country sides walks and the beach is a gentle 1 mile walk where there are restaurants. Just eat also delivers to the site qhich is handy if you forget any essentials. 3 days was not long enough and can't wait to return.

Yes but they must be on leads or tethered. The woodland across the road is great for dogwalking, they can be off lead and there is a dog poo bin before you get back to the site.
