We've always been told, that when in Scotland you should stay in at least one castle. Tulloch castle had the overall best reviews for the price that people had paid. The vegetarian food at their restaurant for dinner and breakfast were lovely which was great. I would recommend that haunted castle tour which is a 45 min tour of the castle. The rooms are a decent size with a clean bathroom. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
My family (kids 12 and 13) spent 3 nights dinner, bed and breakfast and had a fantastic time. Staff helpful and friendly. Food very well cooked and seasoned (I am a picky eater. Castle both atmospheric but comfortable. We were offered a choice of two rooms (both a good size and well appointed). Sure this place is not a 5 star boutique hotel but we thought it excellent value for money and preferred the quirky and homely feel of it to identikit chains. We had to issues at all with the Covid regulations - everything was in place without it being intrusive. Special thanks to the lovely lady who checked us in (curly grey hair and glasses) and Ross for the super ghost tour. (And yes the chandelier did start moving on its own with no windows/door open /upstairs rooms in the middle of the afternoon !). As long as you just go with the flow, speak up if you are not happy and don't demand perfection 24/7 in your breaks you will love this place.…
I only moved back to the area about a year ago and in looking for places to eat my great aunt suggested Tulloch Castle. I had heard previously many moons ago Tulloch Castle didn't have a good standing with the locals but my aunt told me to ask for Ross. She said he'd take care of me, and that he did. It got to the point where I was eating there almost weekly until covid hit. Unfortunately with covid hitting and being busy with work I've had no free time until recently, so I decided why not go to the castle for a meal. As always the food was great, everything else wasn't. Ross wasn't there and the bar felt dirty and uncomfortable. There was a visible lipstick mark on my friends glass. We asked for bottles after that. After we finished our meal we went to pay and saw that track and trace was in effect. We mentioned we weren't tested to the woman behind the bar and she told us it was "too late now". Fortunately my friend and I get tested daily for work so it wasn't too much of an issue, just very careless. The only reason we left a tip was to pay for the drinks we weren't charged for.…
The room was excellent, nice and warm with a comfortable bed and a lovely view. Food was delicious, especially the venison. Very friendly, helpful staff, in particular Ainsley and the Chef. Nice pleasant hotel for a short break but if using a sat nav put in the street name not the hotel.
My husband and I arrived at the hotel last Wednesday night, we received a warm welcome and had dinner in the restaurant, food and service by a young man was excellent and felt really taken care of. My issue started on Thursday morning, I couldn't get the hairdryer to work, so went down to breakfast hoping to get somebody at reception at 7.30 but no one was there, the young lady doing the breakfast service took the hairdryer and said she would give it over. After breakfast which was lovely, I then went to the reception where we were greeted by an abrupt woman, on explaining it was myself that had the issue with the hairdryer she then proceeded to say she wasn't told it was urgent, did I need it now, it doesn't take a blind man to see my hair was soaking wet of course I needed right there and then!! It turned out that you have to press a button on the hairdryer and hold it in to make it work, with all items removed from the room during COVID there was no instructions. This is a really nice hotel, good food, majority of the staff were excellent, but this ruined it for me with this woman's attitude, she it here to make my stay as comfortable as possible, not make me feel like I was interrupting what she was doing. I was booked to back to the hotel this week, but cancelled due to this incident, which is a shame cause we would have dined the next 2 nights with drinks and a bottle of wine, quite a bit of revenue to loose during these hard times…
