A small boutique hotel commanding a magnificent view of Lake Tekapo and the surrounding mountains. We took room no.1 with a king size bed, opening out to a portico. The room is done tastefully. The caretakers, an elderly Filipino couple Amy and Efien deserve special mention for their hospitality and Chia for going out of her way to arrange for a drop to the bus stand. Also a big Thank You to Jojo for the gift of a bottle of wine. You guys have been exceptional in your service. Would highly recommend staying at Tekapo Heights, despite being a little far from the bus stand, and breakfast service stopped.

Tekapo Heights was fine. The room was ready when we arrived, and there were no issues accessing the room even though the property has no staff. There was a lovely view of the lake from our property. The bed was comfortable. The one negative was that we had our own bathroom, but you had to leave your bedroom and cross a corridor leading to other rooms to get to it. Not ideal when you are in your underwear wanting to go to the bathroom!

Very clean, tidy, quiet and extremely comfortable B &B in Lake Tekapo. This place has apparently is darkest place in the world(?) with 2 astronomical observatories. No street lights or outdoor lights allowed! Fantastic views of the Milky Way and the cosmos.

I was a bit disappointed with this accommodation if l'm honest. It wasn't what I was expecting and was certainly not worth the NZD 468 that we paid for our two night stay.
The room was nice and warm, a good size and was comfortable enough. The bathroom was also a good size and the shower was ok. They were the positive aspects of the room. The reasons I have scored as a 3/5 are as follows; I just think that the accommodation is missing some TLC and the personal touch' that you get from many hotels and B&Bs. It was all self ' check in' following receipt of an email from the owner with codes for the door. We didn't see anybody at all. In fact, our only contact with any staff in the 2 nights that we were there was at 9am on the first morning when a member of the team knocked on our door and asked if we needed anymore tea/coffee sachets. That was it though. We never saw anyone else whilst we were there. On one of the evenings, the tv reception dropped out for an hour and there was nobody around to ask for help to resolve. I had to fathom out a resolution myself.

Although the room was comfortable, there just seemed a general lack of care. For example, half of our curtain was hanging off when we arrived and needed fixing but it had been left as it was for us to just 'make do' I understand that this isn't a major issue, but it just added to the absence of any TLC or that personal touch. There needs to be staff on hand instead of just letting guests accept what is there. There was a whiteboard near the porch area with the name of a contact to call if any issues but it felt like it would have to be a serious matter for this call. The reason for this absence of staff on sight was given as Covid!! The world needs to stop using this as an excuse for a dropped level of service. Covid is over now and normal service should by now be resumed.

Finally, I think the description of the view from some rooms at the the property needs to be reviewed. The main pictures on the website and on booking.com are of an elevated view of the property so that you can see the lake and the Mountains. Other photos don’t take account of the foliage that has grown since the photos were taken. The reality is, you could hardly see the lake from our room unless you stood on your tip toes. I will attach a photograph to show the view from our room. All in all, it was a very comfortable stay in a lovely room but the owners could do much more if they are retaining the rates that are being charged. We would not return to the property if we visited the area again.

This is a B and B with out the breakfast. It is a house which has been converted into rooms so it’s like staying at a strangers house. We thought it was separate units with lake views, ours had a view of a hedge. Very over priced for what u get. It’s around a good km walk into Town and coming back it’s up hill so be wary if u have mobility issues. It was noisy with the numerous rooms sharing a house passage. Big rooms, some with lake views but aspect of the room decor is very tacky. Our outside seating area was uninspiring with old furniture Would not stay again very over priced for what u get better options else where.

This accommodation was not our greatest experiance, on our trip around the south island, the room was not ready when we got there it was still being cleaned, as were others, so were told to come back in an 1-1,1/2 hours, as well we also hade to call about the accommodation to enter our room as the instructions on the main door told us to find our room number at the desk which was not there.
It was like a shoe box, no mountain or garden views as per the info received, also no bathrobes, slippers, only 1 set of towels as the room was not serviced on our stay, the view was only to back court yard that was backing on to the car park, there was one painting that looked like it was an after thought as it was to big for the wall it was on and jutted out both sides and interfered with the wardrobe access.
The Bedside lamp was wabbly and accesses to the plugs behind the side table were hard to get to for the lamp and phones as an armchair was jammed between the wardrobe and the bedside table.
over all, not an enjoyable experiance, at all.

Fabulous accommodation, top class in every way. Great location, huge comfortable beautifully furnished room with amazing views and everything we needed to hand. Massive luxury bed and bathroom , felt really spoilt. Such great value. A separate bathroom with huge shower , slipper bath and double basins . Easy to find and parking.

Beautiful property with great view of the lake mountains, sunrise and sunset. Very good hosts with Chia giving us a complimentary bottle of wine and helping us to drop us at the bus stop. There is a sit out and a lawn to walk. However the place is almost one kilometer away from the bus stop and is up the hill. For us, in our seventies, it was very difficult to drag our baggage. Also with no option for breakfast, one has to go down for any kind of food. Perhaps suitable for people with own vehicle. Highly recommended only if you have your own car.

We were lucky to secure the suite at last minute and were very impressed with the cozy soft bed. The suite was spacious clean and lovely and warm. Great location close to town with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Clean and comfortable room. Lovely large bathroom. Only thing I would suggest if that it would be good to have real coffee rather than little tubes of instant coffee, nowadays it is so nice to have Nespresso in a room. Easy access to town and good to have parking spaces.
