My boyfriend had booked a room here for a romantic night away for us after a day out, dinner and a movie. We were on our way to the hotel around 22:30 when he received a voicemail from the hotel calling him a c**t and an a**ehole for not paying and not turning up telling him never to go there ever again. He had used a new card and accidentally entered one digit wrong. My boyfriend suffers from chronic fatigue and extreme anxiety. This sent him into a really bad panic attack fearing that this man was going to come after him. This completely ruined our plans and our weekend. Luckily he lives close by the hotel so we had somewhere else to stay. I am incredibly glad we didn't stay there if they think this is an acceptable way to talk to potential guests. I've never received such disgusting treatment in my life.

Myself and my wife stayed overnight on 19th September to attend a family funeral the following day. I give this hotel 5 stars for the following reasons. The staff were very polite and helpful The room was clean and the bed comfortable (bear in mind this building is 170 yrs old) The shower was excellent and there was plenty of hot water for both of us to have a long shower. Tons of free parking Very quiet location no noise at all very relaxing Good full English breakfast with nice ingredients Very good price 80 pounds all in The building oozes character in and out,I would certainly stay again and would recommend this hotel. We stayed in the room called Quermore.

Pausing for a dinner-catchup with old friends in nearby Lancaster, we needed a family and dog-friendly hotel while travelling onwards to Scotland. The location is very secluded, and has access to the Crook o'Lune footpaths and riverside walks. The room was large enough to accommodate 4 and our dog, plus breakfast was ample and well cooked.

We stayed here for one night as a convenient M6 stop off on our way to Scotland. As we approached the property from the road, the imposing driveway gave a good impression. However, our journey up the once grand staircase, now faded and sad was a prelude to our ‘comfortable double room with spa bath.’ True to the description it was a double room but nobody who spent more than half an hour, let alone an entire night, on that mattress, could describe it as comfortable! The bar area has seen better days, this is a real shame as it looked on to a lovely garden area, albeit through several cobwebs. The young man attending to us was extremely polite but failed to challenge the homophobic remarks directed at us from four men drinking at the bar. He did apologise however but not before we had decided to spend the rest of our evening in our room. The highlight of the stay was the spa bath and the delicious breakfast. We won’t be returning and will stay at a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge when we next venture to Scotland.

We spent three nights in this charming family-owned and run country house hotel. Very friendly welcome at all times. The hotel and rooms could be described as shabby-genteel but it has a country house charm of its own that you will not find in the chain hotels a couple of miles nearer to Lancaster. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The food was excellent and generous and everything was cooked to order. Quietly situated adjacent to a beautiful stretch of the River Lune, yet just a few miles from Lancaster Park and Ride and Morecambe, and on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. We would recommend it.
