We came to Baraza after visiting Victoria Falls for a relaxing break. We arrived at 3am and were met by a wonderful young lady Maureen. Check in was simple and very quick. After refreshing towel and iced tea we were taken to our villa! Maureen showed us around a very luxurious space and left us with soup, rolls, and fruit if we needed it. We slept in a bed big enough for 4 adults! Very comfortable. On waking we explored our rooms more thoroughly and omg what a place. The villa could sleep 4 people. Two bedrooms, one twin with ensuite toilet and shower room, one large lounge area and then the master bedroom. You walked behind the room to access the luxury bathroom with shower and then into a separate toilet with bidet. Outside we had a garden view patio with four sun loungers and a plunge pool. The entire hotel was in an arabic style with beautiful decoration. All staff were always smiling and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We celebrated our 46th anniversary here and were treated to 3 course lunch on the beach, bubbly and kangas in our room and the staff sang to us at the end of our evening meal and surprised us with a chocolate cake. Every where was spotless and the garden kept tidy. The beach was free of sellers so you could walk along without worry. A nice touch was a box of buckets and spades free for children to use. The board was all inclusive and food plentiful, tasty and hot. Around the pool and beach waiters bought along ice buckets with bottled water and of course alcoholic or fruit drinks if requested. This is a quiet, relaxing place to be letting all stress and care wash away. The Frangipani Spa was amazing and the girls who gave us the Balinese massage were excellent. Would we come here again - yes. Would we recommend the Baraza - definitely. Managers were always walking about talking to guests and making them feel welcome. Thank you for the best holiday we have had in many years.

We stayed here for almost 7 nights during Christmas of 2021.

First and foremost, the staff at Baraza, all of them are really well trained and very friendly as well as accommodating.

The food is amazing with buffet breakfasts as well as buffet lunches that are exotic and plentiful. The dinners were out of this world as well. This is a serene place and even though the resort was 100% occupied you don't see too many other guests around as the property is so large. At 7:30 am I was the only person on the vast beach and could not see a soul in either direction!

Everything was fantastic and we will stay here again for sure but have a small suggestion.

Please have someone rake up the seaweed on the beach when the tide goes out. I know it accumulates and is a never-ending job, but it takes away from the beauty of the pristine beach.

For guests - if you are going to get a car/van through the hotel you need to get a driver that is jovial and motivated to show you and take you to places enthusiastically. KP is NOT that driver!

Dear Sam, Delighted to read this wonderful review, thank you so much for taking the time to post it. Thank you also for acknowledging our team; this is very motivating to us and I cant wait to share your kind words with them later today. As you may have seen, we do indeed have a beach cleanup crew for the seaweed and they cover about a kilometre of beach daily (covering our sister properties seafront as well) however as you very rightly say, this is a never-ending task.. Noted also regarding KP, thank you we will look into this. We wish you a safe and happy year ahead and we hope to see you back with us in the future.

Our family came here after a week long safari to relax and had an amazing experience while here to unwind. We stayed in a 2 bedroom garden villa which was a bit further from the central area for our 3 year old who hates walking but actually wasn't so bad.
We had one night where many bugs came in and we called for them to help remove. They quickly arrived and removed all the live and dead bugs and smelled amazing afterward!
The beach is a bit rough for walking but as expected since it's a reef right outside which is excellent for snorkeling. We had a few instances where people asked you if you wanted to purchase items or experiences while walking on the beach which is pretty normal in tourist destinations but was tolerable since they don't continue to harass you.
The food was amazing and probably the best part. I was shocked to see how consistent it was in great tasting food and generous potions. An overall great experience for us and exactly what was needed for our family.

My husband and I stayed here after Safari in Tanzania. We have travelled extensively and would have to say that this is one of the best hotels in the world we have had the pleasure to stay. The accommodation was outstanding as were the staff and the other amenities. As a full board resort you could not fault the food or drinks that were available. The location is fantastic and the beach is relaxing, we felt safe and enjoyed the pool area as well. So relaxing. Nice to have the private pool attached to our accommodation. Could not recommend this highly enough. A lovely way to unwind after Safari.

During our visit to Africa this was by far the nicest resort we stayed at! Our hostess Zamaradi accommodated all of our needs, including a later checkout when our flight wasn't until 4pm. All the villas have AC which was necessary because of the climate during January. The main dining room is the only other room with AC, so most likely you are gonna get pretty toasty at breakfast &, lunch! However, I have a feeling thats what most people are going for when selecting this location. The food was absolutely delicious. The buffets were gourmet, and it was very hard to stop at a single plate. You could come to this resort and never leave the property and still have a fun time in Zanizbar! Highly recommended!

We had an amazing 7 night stay at the Baraza. It is a fabulous resort that we would
not hesitate to return to. The grounds of the hotel are some of the most well kept and beautiful of anywhere we have ever stayed and the staff work constantly to keep it looking so beautiful.

There are 30 villas catering for up to 90 guests but did not feel busy at any time in Sept/Oct. It is right on the very tidal beach and the tide goes out miles. The hotel organises guided reef walks and provides shoes! Which was excellent. There are also water sports and decent bicycles to use which we made use of.

The food is outstanding with a combination of buffet and a la carte menus. But quite honestly they are so accommodating the chef will cook you pretty much anything you want at any time! The bar service is outstanding with staff on hand to deliver fabulous cocktails drinks/snacks even if you felt you didn’t need them! All of the staff are very attentive and treat the guests really well, organising special romantic dinners and lunches. And there is some form of entertainment most nights to accompany dinner.

We had a 2 bedroom garden villa and it was without doubt the biggest and best appointed villa of anywhere we have stayed in the world. (Even better than The Maldives/Seychelles/Mauritius). It had a TV in the lounge area, but individual TVs in the bedrooms would have been a welcome addition.

The pool is lovely (not too cold) as is the Sultan’s Palace themed Spa, which is luxury on another level offers excellent treatments. You must try an Aromasoul massage here. The on site Bazaar sells some lovely very reasonable prices items too.

All in all an excellent stay and we would 100% recommend. Special thanks to Ricard and his team for the excellent service.

this is a great resort. The setting is magnificent. The staff is so friendly. The rooms, the restaurants ,the lobby are really beautiful. The food is exquisite!!The only problem is that it is an all inclusive resort,so very dangerous for your weight!
You can walk endlessly along the sandy beach.Swimming in the sea is not so nice. When high tide there is a lot of seaweed, when low tide the sea withdraws for about a km.There is though a very good swimming pool in the resort. As there are only 30 villas it is never crowded, not on the beach, not at the swimming pool and not in the restaurants. If you are looking for a luxurious, tranquil holiday, this is the place!!

Very nice hotel, clean , delicious food, not many people , concierge is not professional, we asked for catamaran trip to Mnemba Island , they advised to go to to another island promising there would be better coral reef - showed another boat on the picture , there was no reef and the trip was expensive , boat dirty . Do not listen to their advices. But the hotel okay- not friendly about late check out - wanted to charge 800 dollars for 6 hours in spite of the fact hotel was empty

Breakfast and lunch are buffet. Evening meals alternate between buffet one night and a 5 or 6 course plated meal the other nights. All excellent. If there is something on the plated menu you do not like, the chef will cook you something else.

Thank you for this question and for considering us for your family vacation. Baraza does have a kids club which is open daily in July/August and during the Christmas & New Year festive season.. during the other months, it is open on demand only.. I hope this information is helpful and we look forward to welcoming you to Zanzibar
