Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Just WOW. We came here for my partners 30th birthday as a surprise and jt was better than we could have ever imagined. We took our 4 month old puppy who absolutely loved the freedom of the cabin and the views from the floor length windows. It was our first time in a cabin and has only made us want to come back for more. Plenty to do in the area and plenty of time to just chill and enjoy the cabin if you’d prefer. What a beautiful place, thank you browning bros.

We stayed at Water Lily Lodge and it was absolutely fantastic. The cabin itself is beautifully kept, spacious and very comfortable to live and sleep in - we didn’t want to leave! The view from the hot tub (which was fantastic, spotlessly clean and hot on our arrival) is just gorgeous - complete with lovely swans and ducks who swam up to say hello. The cabin is so secluded but has lovely pubs and restaurants a short drive away - would recommend the Three Horseshoes where we had a lovely meal. Amazing for a couples weekend stay-cation but is clearly more that able to sleep 6 comfortably. If you’re thinking about booking - don’t hesitate!

Friends meet up for relaxing break with our dogs. We stayed in White Lily Lodge which sits on a secluded spot directly overlooking the lake. The lodge is tastefully decorated with spacious open plan living space over looking the lake. There are 2 double rooms on the ground floor and twin beds on a mezzanine level. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering and is lovely and warm thanks to the heating and the option of using the log burner. We used the hot tub which was spotlessly clean and serviced daily during our stay. We walked directly from the lodge to Chalkney Woods which was great for the dogs to get some exercise. There’s lots to do in the local area we visited West Mersey beach for a stroll on the beach, Flatford Mill and went for a cream tea in the Essex Rose Tiptree tea room in the pretty village of Dedham. We booked through Coolstays, after that all communication was directly with Browning Bros. who were always really responsive and helpful with any queries. It’s worth knowing that the decking is overlooking the lake is not secure so children and dogs need to be under very close control.

We stayed in Water Lily Lodge and had the best time. It was a perfect location, and the lodge was beautiful. We had such a relaxing time - and no noise or street lighting made it even better. The facilities had everything we needed, the decor was lovely and the hot tub was perfectly located looking out over the lake. Thank you!

We had a lovely time, went far too quick! Stayed in Water Lily lodge and it was just stunning, exactly what we needed and all the facilities were great. Was lovely to sit outside on the deck in the morning to drink our coffee and enjoy breakfast next to the lake. You will get surrounded by ducks if you have food on the deck though haha, at one point we were outnumbered by 10 ducks :D We would love to come back and would definitely recommend!

Where to start... the moment you arrive, you know that you are going to have an incredible break! We stayed in the Kingfishers Nest, and the it is exactly as the online pictures show (or better!). We made full use of the BBQ, sauna, hot tub, and outdoor shower, all while taking in the amazing views and peaceful surroundings. One day we travelled to Mersea for a walk on the beach and lots of seafood, the other we took a stroll around the lake and into the forest, and our last day we literally did nothing but relax in the surroundings. A perfect weekend away! The communication and attention to detail is 5 star, an absolute 10/10 place to stay, we will definitely be coming back!

This place is AMAZING. Everything was perfect! The view is absolutely stunning and the whole area is full of wildlife. My little one also loved looking at the nearby lambs and cows. The hot tub is lovely and having the sauna was such an extra treat. The huge bath was also amazing. We loved the fact there were huge windows opposite the bed so we could lie in bed first thing & admire the view. The nearby woods are also beautiful! This had to be one of our favourite stays and we will definitely be back.

What an amazing countryside escape. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful but the cabins themselves are outstanding. We stayed in Kingfishers Nest and we loved the outside sauna which overlooked the hot tub / lake. It was so peaceful, a little slice of heaven. The cabins were exceptionally clean and tidy, the attention to detail was 5* alone. It was lovely to have that space where you felt secluded, yet safe. We had a lovely time and I’ll definitely be returning and recommending to family and friends. Thank you so much! 💓
