A well located ryokan (5 minutes walk from the town centre) that has multiple indoor and outdoor public hot springs as well as private hot springs you can book for an extra fee. While the building is modern, being a ryokan. the room I stayed in was furnished in a traditional Japanese style with tatami, fusama, shoji and even a tokonoma (though I suspect all rooms are like this). The facilities and extras Hatori offers (bar, bookable cafe, karaoke room, free taiko performance and free ice cream nightly) were really nice touches. What made my stay most enjoyable however were the delicious dinners (make sure to book your meals in you stay plan you wont regret it!) and staff. While only a little English was spoken all the staff did their utmost to make you feel welcome and provide for your needs. This kind of 'omotenashi' is increasingly rare and I wish I could have stayed there more than 3 nights. I will definitely be back.

We stayed at Hatori after visiting the Japan Dome House in Kaga. This is a five star top 250 hotels in Japan. Without knowing Japanese and being a first time Ryokan visitors, we were pleasantly surprised by the high standards that this Ryokan provides. The room was spacious and spotless, dinner was 1.5 hour long, our host Nara was so elegant. She even brought in a brochure for me to read since apparently I didn't know anything about the Ryokan, including how to wear my Yutaka (bath robe). The food was just amazing, incredible, the outdoor onsen (hot spring) was really lovely too. We also watched the 太鼓 (hiragana たいこ, romaji taiko) performances when Nara cleaned up the room and set up the bed. The whole experience was just incredible, worth every penny. There are shuttles that take you from the JR Karaonsen Station to the Ryokan.

I've stayed at many types of hotels in Japan, and a real Ryokan is the experience you should not miss.

Good onsen, spacious room with massage chair, lots of delicate local food at dinner and breakfast! There is a fantastic drum performance after dinner and free home-made ice-cream at tea-time! That marks my stay! The hotel is well located where you can go around the Kaga onsen area by foot! Staff are very nice and helpful!

It is a boutique onsen hotel. There are not many rooms, but the rooms are well maintained and equipped.
The breakfast and dinner are both good. There are two onsen areas in the hotel, but what a pity that there is no outdoor one. The one claimed to be outdoor is all covered. It is very different from the other outdoor hot spring bath I tried before.
The hotel located close to the main street of Yamashiro Onsen, but there is not much to see and a lot of shops are closed at around four.
During the stay there, we drove to Tojinbo which has got fantastic coastal features. It is only around one hour’s drive from Hatori.

We need to have a place to sleep arriving in Kaga at 8pm from Nagoya airport, found this hotel on the internet which looks decent.
Our hotel was a tatami room with three futon beds. Bathroom was small and we had to use the public bathing area which so had cypress beams and tubs. The onsen water was good quality and very well known in the area.
The shocking fact for a room staying only guests was the hotel had no restaurant facility for non full board guests...what? wait a minute, no dinner nor breakfast available to purchase and this is supposed to be one of the 250 five stars hotels in Japan.. can't be.
We were not too happy so we were driven to their sister hotel Rurikoh down the street the next day for breakfasts. At 2000 yen per guests, the breakfast was just average after all that fuss. Not many choices as the entire street was only hotels and hotels and no apparent eatery. Something one has to think about when going to this area.
The hotel is on the old side..need refurbishing badly if it wants to stay competitive, IMHO

This hotel is beautiful, a traditional style Japanese hotel. The facilities are really nice with free soft drinks and coffee on the main floor. The location is close to nice restaurants and a convenience store. The onsen facilities are very clean. The staff are very nice people and are very friendly. I’d recommend Hatori to friends who stay in Japan.

We booked this onsen on line ourselves. We have travelled to Japan before and have previously experienced other onsen and accompanying Kaiseki meals.
We were a little surprised at the location of the onsen. It was in the suburbs. But maybe that was our fault. The area around did seem to be run down. There were a few sad looking shops around. Some were closed. Maybe because of Covid. Maybe it is not geared for foreign tourists.
The building is not modern. It had a faded glory about it. It is large and rambling.
Our room /suite had a private outdoor bath. We were actually on the fourth floor.
The tap to the outdoor bath would not turn off and was continuously dripping. It was outside so didn't bother us but should have been obvious to
staff.
Likewise the cladding on one wall was coming off and the tiny garden was scruffy and full of dead leaves. This was disappointing and not up to the standard of other onsen we have stayed at previously.
The room however were spotless.
All the staff were very good, from check in, to the tea servers, the waiters and breakfast room attendants.
The ladies got to choose the colour of the kimono they would wear for the evening, which was a nice touch.
The Kaiseki meal was served in the restaurant which had bamboo blinds separating the various tables. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and thought the waiter did an excellent job juggling the tables. The wine was reasonably priced.
The breakfast was buffet style and had an enormous choice. Sadly we had to catch an early complimentary shuttle to the station so we just had a quick breakfast, and truthfully we were still full from the meal the night before.
We did not partake in the free ice cream or public onsen so can't comment here. The small gift shop was adequate but lacking in nice little souvenirs of the area.
So all in all we had a good experience.

Fantastic place! Easy to get from Kaga station because they provide a shuttle bus to pick you and also bring you back to the station when you leave. People at the reception were really nice and helpful. They explained everything I needed to know and then showed me to my room. I had a single room which was in a bit of funny place on top of the stairway. It's location was actually pretty good because it was away from the other rooms so it was really quiet in there. Room itself was great and looked like it was renovated not so long ago. And being little above the top floor the view over the town was also good.
Hotel has twon onsen and they were both good. One had a stone interior and the other had a wooden one. Wooden one also has outside baths too.
Dinner and breakfast were ryokan style so there was lots of food and everything was delicious. Service at the restaurant was also great.
I would definitely stay here again if I'm visiting somewhere near Kaga again.

There are 2 onsen baths here open to the public. One is with Indoor and Outdoor baths with Japanese Cyprus wood barrel. The other one is an Indoor bath only with stone bath and jacuzzi. We went to the first one and felt that it was very good. The onsen was not crowded at all in the mornings and we decided to try again in the evening. The experience is very much enjoyable and we will definitely return.

My family and I decided to take a last minute field trip and book a room on my way to the area. The town itself, admittedly was quiet but there few noteworthy sites nearby(Eihei Temple and Tojinbou). This inn would be a great base.
Very modern yet traditional room, impeccable service, wooderful onsen, great cuisine(dinner and breakfast), and a live show at night(seemed trivial and cheap when we heard about it but it was exciting and got the taste of tradition).
Solid place to stay for couples families and friends. Like mentioned, not much to do around so this might best as somwhere to unwind, bring some games and hang out in their big rooms(most rooms come with a living room).
