I cannot imagine an experience in a ryokan, or pretty much in any other situation, where we would be met by hosts with the natural graciousness and care that we were met with at Kayotei. We felt as if we were treasured family, not guests at all. And this grace and care is evident in every inch of this beautiful...

No visitor to Japan can miss a ryokan. No visitor to Japan should miss an Onsen. This combines both and is worth the time and effort to get there from Kanasawa ( about one hour by train then taxi). This place is perched overlooking a private valley and is small (10 rooms) and family owned. The welcome is enthusiastic and...

We stayed at Kayotei through the Ryokan Collection, which we've used for all our previous ryokan stays. Like the others, our stay at Kayotei did not disappoint. In fact, it is hard to imagine another ryokan that can personalise an experience any more than this one, or who could surpass the already high attention of detail most top ryokans have....

This is a wonderful Japanese experience. We gave up a day of tours to spend more time at the hotel and its location. It is an authentic Japanese experience and not detail goes unnoticed. You have to eat there for breakfast and dinner as much as possible. I would have spent more time there and in that area of Japan...

You get welcomed personally by the owner, Madame Kazuko Kamiguchi and the General Manager Mr Jiro Takeuchi is a delightful man who is not only a great host, but a guide and a 'concierge' who personally gives your private tour and teaches the true Omotenashi hospitality.
