Artistic dive is my single favorite place in the Philippines. Sipalay is a beautiful place with long white sand beaches, bountiful reefs for snorkeling and diving, some of the most reliably sunny weather in the country, friendly locals and the best part is, all of this is still relatively undiscovered! Sipalay can also be defined by what it is NOT there; mosquitos, other tourists, vendors on the beach, crowds, jet skis, overpriced food and lodging and everything else you see in more famous destinations.

There are three dive resorts in the area. Of these, Artistic dive has the best location, most reasonable prices, friendliest staff and is the best value for the money. The Swiss owner Arthur Muller and his Filapina wife Evalyn spent 20 years designing and building the resort and the surrounding community including all the road and utility infrastructure and maintaining it in perfect working order so guests are always comfortable and well taken care of. The pool is gorgeous and a welcome swim every day to cool off and enjoy the scenery.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and learns the names and needs of all guests so most of your needs are taken care of without even asking. The kitchen is fabulous and serves great food including the best pizza in the Philippines. I also recommend their Thai style curry and grilled jumbo prawns in garlic butter, yum!

I always enjoy staying there on my visits to the Philippines. It is so beautiful, peaceful and fun to explore all the snorkel sites easily reached from the long beach. Sunsets are perfect all winter long and all the rooms have nice views. Sipalay also has a wonderful daily fruit market with some of the sweetest, juiciest fruit found anywhere in the Philippines. Tricycle will take you there in a 20 minute ride into town from the resort.

I hardily recommend that if you are in Negros at some of the popular areas like Dumaguete, that you take the little side trip and spend a few days in Sipalay at Artistic dive. It’s a couple hours to the west and a world away!

We went to Sipalay because we heard the diving was supposed to be really good. If you are not a diver and you are not in the area - there is probably not really any reason to go to Sipalay. It is far from most things and does not really have any great attractions - other than a beautiful beach and the diving.
The diving was not as fantastic as we had hoped. We have had better diving other places in the Philippines - but it was ok. The visibility was not so good due to the heavy rain they had in Jan - but we still enjoyed.
Artistic resort is a funny, bit bizar place. The rooms have clearly been built as they went along and got more and more guests. So there is not really any clear logic to the resort and the way it is built. But that has its own charme. The colors of the rooms in as well as outside may also seem to be a bit strange - especially considering that you are in the Philippines. The room inside a pretty basic - but they work ok.
We stayed in one of the beach front rooms and since many rooms are higher up due the cliffs - I would definitely go for one of the "beach front" rooms. They are not really breach front - but rather beach / sea view - which is also great.

The people in the diving center are really nice. The staff in the resort and restaurant are overall nice and helpful - but sometimes slow. The food is not outstanding just ok.

So why should you go there? Because of the atmosphere. First of all - Angela who is running the place makes the whole difference. She is so nice and helpful - and will do everything she can to meet your wishes and requests. She does everything she can to make your stay even better. Both when you book via email and when you are there.
Secondly it is a small secluded place. The beach is lovely. And everything goes in a slow pace, very relaxing.
It is one of those places where when you arrive you might think "what is this and what am I doing here". But shortly after that - you fall in love. In the small things. The beach, the people, the relaxed and friendly atmosphere etc.
I guess the best recommendation I can give is - I would go back if I had the opportunity. I really liked the laid back way of living - with all the small strange things that the place had.

We had a 4days off at work and my family decided to spend it here, we had a gud time at the beach because it was not crowded and still clean. The room we had is the toscana villa, its big lots of space to move around. And we have a good view of the beach ang the sunrise. The food is sooo pricey and not that good but you dnt have a choice resturants are far from the resort.:( We also tried their diving, we had a great experience and learn a lot from Mr Arthur Mueller, who is great instructor. Thanks Arthur :)

They call themselves a diving resort but don't have a divemaster? Although we didn't get to dive with their resort we still had a nice stay. The food wasn't the best. They do have a nice pool. We did island hopping, but it really wasn't anything special. The bathroom is a bit old and the sinks aren't working proper. But had a nice room with view. We had no wifi or signal during our stay. I also wouldn't pack heavy cause there are a lot of stairs and you need to carry your own luggage to the room. The staff was also really nice and helpful. The road on the way isn't ideal for people who get carsick.

The place itself is absolutely beautiful and the staff are wonderful. They are all friendly and always greet you. The food was good and the menu varied.

We originally contacted them about the pickup service in Bacalod as we were already there. They responded that it cost $125US!!!!!!!! Any taxi in Bacolod will beg to drive you for $35US........

We arrived late afternoon and the view from our unit was spectacular. However in the morning when the tide had gone out the sea was full of grass. We were not to walk in the grass as something poisonous would bite our feet. We didn't go for diving so we could only swim in the pool, a major disappointment.

Pros: Beachfront, pool, beach lounges, peaceful and quiet, a swing and a hammock(was reserved for a group though?); beach is good for kids, calm waters and has a long shallow coastline. Starfish to be found nearby. P700.00 gets you a boat ride to an island and snorkeling. Room is clean. Staff are friendly and helpful except for one who gave me attitude when I asked for the wi-fi code. I being local but have travelled the world over felt that I was being treated differently than the Caucasian guests as they were overtly being extra attentive to the other guests.
Cons: Food is expensive. dinner is P395pp Lunch is P290. Walk along beach and you'll get to Megan's Store. You can buy food for them to cook(for a nominal fee) or they suggest going to the market, buy seafood etc and they'll cook it for you. The TV didn't work, you had to ask for wi-fi code(as a checked-in guest I felt it should have been provided at check-in)

We spent 2 night in the backpacker room, wich was perfect. The hotel is very clean, the food is good and have a reasonable price.

But the diving center is more expensive than every where else in the Philippines, the fees of the sanctuary are not included and they didn't tell us. They put to many persons with the same divemaster.

I did my homework before leaving Australia and decided that a trip down to Sipalay would give us a break from provincial life, while staying in Negros. Also being a diver i was keen to get underwater again after a long break from diving.Artistic diving resort turned out to be the perfect place for this.We had a delux bungalow right near the beach. The stretch of beach in this area is really beautiful and there are a number of options for eating within walking distance along the beach. However, there is no problem with the food at this resort, except that sometimes when they are busy meals can take a bit longer. If you dont have young children then this wont be a problem because the outdoor area where you eat over looks the pool and the ocean ,and is a great place to stick your head in a book. There is a newly renovated resort on the clifftop to the west of artistic. This is really worth a visit. It is only a couple of minutes along the beach to a staircase that takes you up the cliff face. The resort is made of beautiful timber that is stained and polished.Back at Artistic you have a beautiful pool and swim up bar.During our stay ,there were a couple of school groups that came thru. They were quite noisy as you could imagine. The only other negitive was that we would of liked a small fridge in our room so that we could keep drinks cool. But overall this is a great resort with friendly staff and great service. They also have great dive sights just out from the resort.

Laid Back , clean rooms and affordable has a dive shop as well . Diving was surprisingly nice . The food service was kind of slow but i know if its because its off season . The staff were courteous and friendly . The beach is good but you can tell some general clean up might be needed to make the place look more appealing especially during low tide you can see more trash laying around ...

Hi, I can't really say anything about the pricing for a group like the one you will be bringing. If you contact the resort via email, I'm sure they will get right back to you. I don't know how you will be getting around, but know that it is about a 4 hour drive from Bacolad to Sipalay. The resort is actually about 9 km from Sipalay. I can tell you that the prices are very reasonable and the rooms are immaculate and the food is excellent.
