You like it or you hate it. We liked it. The concept and the whole experience are just wonderfull. Many objects referring to our childhood made us instant happy. In comparison with other hotels, a stay at Rockypop is not cheap. It's obvious that the price is determined by the setting where you're in. However included in the price, you may expect a very friendly and english speaking staff (always available, rushing and running for the guests. They are a real added value for the hotel, for sure ), clean (but small double ) room, a tasty breakfast (small minus, the pancakes and bacon were most of the time not warm) free mineral water, free coffee and tea non stop, nice smelling shower soap, parking, games, pool table ...

We loved the diner, juicy hamburgers, pizzas, but also more highstanding dishes available on the menu. Congrats to the kitchen for their flexbility (our son ordered an "oriental" without olives and eggplant and so he received his tailormade sample) and kudos for using home grown vegetables in some of their other dishes.
After having walked or hiked, a homemade cocktail helps you to forget your tired feet (go and grab your -50 % happy hour drink between 17h-19h)

The hotel is respecting the covid measures, which made us feel safe and comfortable.

We'll come back if we're in the neighbourhood. Tx for the offered hapiness !

I'm unsure why they have a couple of recent bad reviews. The place is a little bit funky and attracts families but rooms are clean quiet and the food is ok. The breakfast is extensive and there is plenty of it. Staff were extremely helpful in the hotel and ski shop. You can hire all your equipment from the ski shop below reception and buy ski passes. There is also a courtesy bus provided by the hotel that takes you to most but not all the lifts. Public bus transport (which is free) stops outside although French bus time tables and routes remain a mystery to me.There is also a super market a 10 minute walk away. The hotel is a little remote which is why the restaurant is always fully booked. Taxi fare back from Chamonix after the buses stop is 30 euro minimum. It wasn't and extensive menu at the restaurant but reasonable selection at reasonable prices. They provide free bottled water in reception. Wifi was great. If you have small or young kids there are some things for them to do.

We were so impressed with the Rocky Pop. The mezzanine family rooms were excellent, with lots of storage and comfortable beds. The staff were all lovely, fluent in English and nothing was too much trouble. Cocktails were great, food exceeded expectations and the ambience was excellent. The contrast between Friday/Sunday nights and Saturday night was massive with the hotel full to bursting on Saturday night. Only slight hitch was we had booked half board and every night we had to battle for adult portions for our two boys who at 10 and 12 needed a full meal not half portions after a days skiing. We offered to pay extra but this seemed tricky and being given a dessert cut in half one evening didn’t impress. However on the final night the waiter was exceptional and he saw how silly the situation was and sorted for us. This is an excellent family friendly hotel, and would highly recommend. You need to be smart with bud times as they are only every half hour. But once you get used to this, getting to the slopes and back is easy.

This hotel is badly placed (half the rooms look out over an autoroute, so you can't open the windows due to the noise (and there is no airco).
Their supposedly 'fun' themed hotel really is overhyped and not fun at all. It's not very creative to have a pacman themed carpet with R2D2 and C3PO as statuettes...
The staff pretends to be 'friendly' - with standard phrases repeated along the day.
Service in the restaurant is iffy at best. If you want something that is not as programmed..good luck. Serving personnel quickly gets cranky to the point where they 'delay' serving you. Overall a highly overrated affair in a pretentious setting.

Dear Robert, Thank you for your review about our hotel but allow me to reply: - " This hotel is badly placed and no A/C: All our rooms have A/C. However, we have an electrical system who prevents the A/C to run if the window is open. About the location of the hotel; the rooms are well above the road and from this side you had a full mountain view. - "The hotel is not fun at all " : We don't have R2D2, C3PO and space invader carpets (sorry no pacmans) to make the hotel "fun" but to bring some iconic memorabilia and to give a special tone to the hotel. We are not, indeed, with all respect due to Disneyland a themed park hotel. - "The staff pretend to be friendly" : They do not pretend, they are friendly ! Young, dynamic, professional. We don't train them to give you standard phrases. However " Hello sir, how was your day and have a nice evening" is pretty common. - "If you want something that is not programmed good luck : " Well, we have a menu as well as burger and pizzas. Why should we change? We can accommodate to certain regime, but we won't cook " A la demande". Who does that anyway???! No one gets "cranky with our customer" as we give the same attention to everyone with the same professionalism. So sorry Robert that you didn't catch the Rocky vibe !

Great hotel and great location. The bus stop to the city and to the slops is only a few meters away. The hotel staff were super friendly. I was slightly cold one night and the girl on the front reception gave me a heater for the duration of my stay. The the breakfast and food at dinner was to a high standard and really tasty. Also the ski renal shop next door was super handy.
I had a family room for 3 adults, thank goodness there was only 2 of us because the room is too small for 3 adults. I kept banging my head on the top mezzanine bed when on the ground floor. The top mezzanine in the family room has a double bed but it has a really low ceiling and it is impossible to stand up unless your are below 3ft. The bed on the ground floor is a single bed. So for 2 adults upstairs and a child/ adult downstairs it would be a struggle.
I would advise family’s to avoid the family room.
I would definitely stay again (but not in a family room) it was excellent value for money.

Nice atmosphere, nice bar with many drinks, good wine. Great breakfast buffet! We ordered burgers, fries and pizza to the room but everything was literally cold and soaky from the grease, awful. Aside the dinner we liked our stay.

Stayed here for 5 nights from 24th Dec. Could not fault the hotel at all. The staff were amazing and very friendly. Lovely lady at checkin gave us great advice regarding our needs and was extremly friendly.
Breakfast was extensive very good quality. We pre booked for evening meals at the restaurant and couldn't fault the service and work ethic of the staff. They tried there best to accomodate everyone's needs. My advice would be to book in advance as the restaurant did get busy at 8pm ish which is expected especially during Xmas holidays. Some guests were getting annoyed with the restaurant staff due to long waits for there food! You can not expect your meal to be ready within 5 minutes of placing your order especially during peak times.
Overall the quality of pizzas, burgers and children's meals were great!

Lovely staff member at checkin recommended a fantastic restaurant in Chamonix called Le Bivouac which was awesome. She phoned the restaurant and arranged our booking for us. Honestly the staff couldn't have been more helpful even the ski hire shop were amazing always friendly and welcoming.

We had a duplex room which was functional and fine. Mattresses were comfortable and bathroom was of a good size. Room was cleaned daily.

Overall the Rocky Pop was a fantastic experience and was alot better than what we expected! Honeslty ignore the negative reviews....some guests will always be impossible to please.!!!

Well done Rocky Pop!
Look forward to visit again

Stayed Friday to Wednesday in early April. Skied at a different location each day, getting the Rocky pop daily bus some of the time (or local ski bus that stops outside hotel).

Fun, practical, friendly hotel. Great breakfast, even had tasty gluten free bread.
Dinner felt more expensive (in line with central chamonix prices), but good food. Cheaper and good meals in les houches.

No late check out available but had a shower we could use and locked luggage room.

Games area is great. Bar nice.
Overall a great hotel, at a good price for the room. (Almost all) staff really friendly.

Ski hire in the basement more expensive than local shops, but v convenient and also ski lockers for guests.

This is our 4th visit to Rocky pop and it never disappoints, it’s a fabulous hotel in a beautiful setting, just on the outskirts of Chamonix. I cannot understand why anyone would give this hotel a bad rating. You get what you pay for, the staff are all friendly and make an effort nothing is too much trouble. They are very relaxed here if you wish to have a take out pizza that’s fine, if you wish to have your own picnic in the grounds that’s fine too, and there is also a great restaurant with a varied menu. The breakfast here is not to be missed it’s delicious. Also try the bar especially at happy hour! With a very friendly chatty barman. As a family with older children we highly recommend Rocky Pop.

Had an excellent 5 nights in hotel RockyPop The reception staff are welcoming and informative and gave advice when there was a national strike on our last day

Rooms are good and are cleaned meticulously every day.

The hotel offers a free ski bus in the morning and at the end of the day which was a god send especially when you see the public buses rammed all the time

The restaurant serves up an eclectic mix of food but with a large choice so something for everyone

Les Houches centre is a 25 mins walk or a 5 min local free bus.

Catching the bus to ski is a bit of a pain but that's what you get when you ski in Chamonix

Overall a brilliant stay
