We had wonderful 4 days over Christmas and would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so memorable. The hotel was beautifully decorated, the food was great and the warm welcome from all the stuff made us feel like at home. Looking forward to our next visit in spring.

We been to the hotel before with young children but they recently change the pool temperature and can now be as low as 27.5! It was 28.5 when we went and could only stay in the pool with the kids for 25mins before they were shivering. Very annoying when it’s advertised as heated to a comfortable temperature (hotels words). Well that’s not a comfortable temperature. I used to over look the tired changing rooms as pool was warm but now it’s just a let down. Shame as we used to spend a lot of money in the pool and on food after but won’t be going now.

Dear U9103DTRamandam, This review is inaccurate and misplaced . We have asked Tripadvisor to review it as we believe it falls outside of the guidelines for posting. Indeed this account was posted with the sole intention of posting a single malign review. The swimming pool is maintained to a temperature of 28.5C (+/- 1C) - tonight the temperature was 29.4C. Despite any assertion to the contrary, this sits at the very upper end of official guidance for leisure pool temperatures and is comfortable for vast majority of users. A quick internet search will confirm this with ideal swimming pool temperatures sitting between 25-28C (dependant on use) and that too hot a water temperature can prevent the body from cooling down, which can cause overheating. Our pool is the warmest in the area, precisely as advertised and maintained to an exacting standard as are the facilities in the club. We quite simply do not accept there is genuine cause for complaint. Kind regards, Blunsdon House Hotel

Time for a few days away. Checked in to the hotel, lovely setting. Easy to park and access our room. The decor was dated, and the room not very clean. The clock on the wall not working, but only needed a battery. The extractor in the bathroom not working. Limited hot water to shower or bath. The toilet system was very noisy and not easy to use. Although not the hotel's fault, other than sound proofing, very easy to hear neighbouring rooms. Food was poor and not good value for money, and the staff were uninformed of daily menu. Breakfast choice was disappointing, and not very hot to eat, along with the coffee. Evening meal on the Thursday night, was ok, but we had to eat in the bar as restaurant wasn't open. Friday night meal was poor even in the restaurant. Overall for the price of the 3 night break, I could not recommended the hotel.

Dear 67 Scottish lass, We were sorry to receive this review. Having discussed it with the duty management team we have been unable to verify much of what is raised in this review.. We have not for example received any complaints relating to a broken room facilities, nor do we run a "daily menu". Please drop us a line at the hotel, Alex.Roupelis@blunsdonhouse.co.uk and we will be happy to investigate the issue you raise further but require some more detail. Kind regards, BHH

We only had a fleeting visit to this hotel arriving late and leaving early the next day. First impressions were good but the corridor leading to our bedroom was sterile and had a badly stained carpet which is always off putting. Our bedroom and bathroom were a good size but we were immediately struck by a strong curry smell that, despite opening window and keeping it open all night long, still lingered in the morning. If we’d arrived earlier, we would’ve asked for a room change but tiredness had got the better of us. Our room was very dated, stuck in the 1970s and really crying out for redecoration. It may well be that the hotel has already started a refurbishment of bedrooms, it is worth checking as our room was not reflective of the public areas which were in better decorative order. Our shower pressure was poor and the ugly ‘hose style’ hairdryer was not fit for purpose. The bed, however, was comfortable and we got a good night’s sleep. Breakfast is buffet style and perfectly adequate if you are a meat eater but limited for vegans which one of us is. There were no vegan sausages, for example, only vegetarian containing egg, which was disappointing. Staff at breakfast were professional and helpful supplying us with soya milk as they don’t stock oat milk. Still, we were sorry not to have been able to stay for long enough to try out the spa facilities and we think the hotel represented value for money. Certainly it’s one of the cheapest ‘4 star’ hotels we have ever stayed in. And we travel a lot. On balance, we would likely stay again if in the area.

Dear Acrobatic1, Thank you for posting a review of your fleeting visit here at Tripadvisor. We were glad to read that you enjoyed a restful nights sleep. Much of what you raise is accurate and astute - as you assert we are currently undergoing a bedroom refurbishment programme (with several of our new rooms only finished last week) and we already have new corridor carpet on order for installation early in the new year. It has proven a frustrating and difficult time for hospitality business with many best laid plans disrupted or delayed because of serious and ongoing supply chain issues. We do hope that you will have the opportunity to revisit us again in the future and make use of our brand new spa facilities and see the changes we have been making. Kind regards, BHH

My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay at Blunsdon House Hotel. We had an executive room, which had the added bonus of a small balcony with far reaching views. The room was spacious, clean, warm, and the bed was the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept in, no backache in the morning. Dinner was lovely in Carries Bar, we had a nice table tucked away in a quiet corner. Breakfast is plentiful, tasty and lots of choice. We enjoyed using the leisure area, pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, even though it was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon, it still felt safe and able to use facilities freely. The biggest shame is that having a room in a separate building , it means walking outside along a path by the car park to gain entry back into the main hotel for using the leisure facilities, bar and restaurant, we had to make a run for it to try and keep as dry as possible when heading for breakfast on a rainy morning! Maybe some sort of covered walkway would be worth investing in if possible. It seems the hotel is in a bit of a flood area, we were slightly trapped in the main building after breakfast when the rain fell heavily, and water flooded into an entrance. We mucked in and helped the staff with mopping up procedure, laying down towels and sweeping water back out of the door, luckily we are down to earth, helpful people, not sure how many residents would have pulled their sleeves up and got their feet wet helping to stop the flood ! Despite all that, we would stay again.

Dear Diane C, Thank you for publishing this delightful review. We were very glad to read that enjoyed your time with us. The hotel is located on a free draining limestone hill, approximately 500ft above sea level. Historically we have never flooded but recently we have seen some flashing flooding as a result of the unprecedented deluge rainfall (3inches in one hour during the time of your stay) which simply overloads the local drainage infrastructure. We really appreciated the help offered and the time and hope to welcome you back to the hotel again soon. Kind regards, BHH
