We stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and was so desperate to come back here. We booked the royal elite room, as we did 4 years ago. This time, the room was in need of decoration, and the floor tiles were badly worn all over. The shower had no water pressure, so it was unsuitable to wash hair. Asked to change rooms but was told none avaliable until next day in afternoon. As we were only coming for a week, we didnt want to have to check out again and wait around, as upon arrival our room was not ready to had to wait until 3.30pm before handed our room key, so already losing time. Was not happy with the room as you paid for the royal elite, but the room was not this. You have a safe in the room which you make your own secure code for. Day two, we needed to access our safe, error code 1 came up, and the safe did not open when we put our code in. We spoke to reception, and they called maintenance, who came to fix this very quickly with a tool they used. Having bought our own euros with us both and not yet spent any!!! We discovered we both had 20 euros each missing from our money. We absolutely knew this was fact as we had our receipts of how many euros we had and knew we had not spent any!!!!! Immediately went to reception to ask to speak to the manager, he was not available. They called and said he was sick and we had to wait until the following day. We booked through easyjet, so our rep was contactable by the phone and not on site and was reported. We did report to TUi and Jet 2 rep who were stationed at the hotel, so they could warn others. The end story was the manager Carlos investigating this as the day our money was stolen, we had various people in and out our room maintenance and cleaner We do not know who it was but have our suspicions. Carlos did refund our euros back and said that was being looked at with their lawyers. Be very aware as upon leaving this happened to someone else and they had 20 euros taken from there safe with a different wrror code.

This is our 5th time. Had a great time Updated a lot around. Rooms were freshly painted decorating going on throughout hotel. Food amazing. The only thing that let it down was the entertainment. Out of 10 nights there was 2 that was brilliant the others where pretty bad. The kids disco was far to late. Also cant the entertainment, start earlier and have some music till close Went a couple of times to the theatre. Resembled a poor holiday camp evening. The worst its been.. please have a look and change please

Stayed for a week in November with 11 year old son. Room and common areas were spotless. Room is large and well appointed. The sea view upgrade is definitely worth it. Although the hotel is huge there are loads of lifts so someone with mobility issues wouldn't have a problem. The entertainment was great. The animation team worked hard and the evening entertainers were good quality. The food was good. Hot and well refreshed. Huge joints of meat carved fresh each night. The pasta station was fab but they could of made more of this I felt. Went to the mexican night and that was great. You book on the app but the QR codes on site do not work so use the link on their Facebook page. Didn't go Royal Elite and don't think we missed anything. The bars were serving some premium spirits anyway. Measures were excellent (50/50 for Malibu and coke!!!). Pool bar doesn't open till 11 but you can get drinks from breakfast to take away. Canarian bar was nice with a lovely terrace. The views are amazing! The 2nd pool is heated and massive. Only 1m 20cm deep across the whole pool so very kid friendly. Aqua gym was fun too. Only thing that let the place down was the dirty floor round the pool. Loads of manky plasters that were never swept up. I was tempted to grab a dustpan and sweep them up myself. Not great with kids in bare feet. If you're looking for a fun week in the sun with great facilities you can't go wrong with this hotel. Only point that let the place

What an incredible hotel one of the best holidays I have had by far. Definitely book royal elite, upgrade worth every penny. Most staff where polite and some not so but I believe it was language barrier rather than unwilling to help. I have a nut allergy and was no issues at all staff where amazing. Food is lovely rooms clean and tidy and house keeping was spotless. Generous helpings of everything including alcohol. Volcano BBQ trip worth its weight in gold not to be missed. Special thanks to Erica for helping me so much with allergies always asking and making sure I could eat.arrived as guest leaving as friends x see you again x

We came on a family holiday with older children(17&19) and overall had a lovely stay. Pros- clean& spacious rooms, was upgraded to sea view on arrival, all areas on hotel were clean, lots of toilets and places to get drinks, friendly staff (aqua fit and crazy games team were very good), breakfast selection was nice, plenty of pools to pick from, lots of activities/entertainment thoughout the day. Close proximity to beach and 30 minutes walk to marina. Tex-mex &asian night is a must! Cons- found tea and lunch selection very average and bland but very little choice for little children, evening entertainment aimed at older generations and not much for late teens, spa was disappointing as half of it wasn’t open and we had specifically booked for this feature, could be more lenient with the ‘adult’ rules as our 17y/o wasn’t allowed with us to adult only areas or spa(after special hours) meaning we couldn’t experience it although paying for 4 adults. On the whole the hotel complex is great and would recommend!

Been coming here for 20 years. It needs work, maintenance is lacking everywhere. Also deep cleaning required both in the restaurant and at the pool. The reception staff need better customer training they can be quite rude! Rooms are starting to look tired as there has been no investment on them. Paint peeling etc. Windows in some places are filthy. Remember to have a sea view you need to book that (more expensive) or you’ll be facing the back. No loyalty for returning customers either.

An overall enjoyable trip and just about worth the four star overall rating. We travelled for a 3 night short break on a package with TUI. As others have noted there were big queues to check in and no immediate welcome drink which was a shame. This is a big and sprawling hotel, with a slightly complicated and difficult to navigate layout - a product of being built in to the landscape. This means you have to use multiple lifts across multiple levels to get about, and each block has a seemingly irrational labelling system. For example, our room was in block A level 4, but involved going down 3 levels (to minus 3 of the main block) along external walkways to block A, at which point you find yourself on level 5 of block A and need to go down a different lift to level 4. If you have mobility difficulties getting around could be a challenge as even some of the ramps are steep. Our room was essentially nice - a full sea view that we didn't expect and relatively smart, albeit the bathroom was in need of refurbishment and the water pressure was poor (the hotter you want the shower, the quicker the pressure fell). The in room TV featured UK channels "1 to 4". Some premier league football was shown in the main bar by reception. There is a kettle in the room, and tea and coffee (and a chocolate) were replenished daily by a good maid service. Location wise, the hotel is the last one at the end of the resort. For us this meant a good running route along the coastal path, but many would consider it too far away from the resort centre. The Rubicon Marina is about a mile along the coastal path, Papagayo shopping centre about 2 miles, and Playa Blanca marina (with ferries to Fuerteventura) beyond that. The beach outside is rocky, but the sandy Papagayo beaches are around 15 minutes walk away (NOTE accessed from the back of the hotel NOT over the extremely steep hill at the end of the coast path, that we were warned many people have had accidents on). Even the correct path out past the hotel tennis courts necessitates robust shoes, but the beaches are nice when you get to them - we even swam in the sea which was still 22 degrees in late November. The all inclusive is generally okay - a reasonable entertainment programme, fundamentally nice food (but clearly the size of the hotel dictates this is a mass catering environment) and a reasonable selection of drinks, albeit it was noticeable that some cocktails that were showing in the hard copy menu (that you have to ask for and say the APP isn't working) have now been removed from the all inclusive. On that point, it was also strange (and a first in 4* AI for us) that Amaretto is excluded from the "standard" all inclusive package, and only available to those that pay to upgrade to "elite" - which also gives access to a separate restaurant. We were only here for three days, but managed to get in to the Mexican restaurant which, whilst still buffet, was nice. As others have noted the QR Coe APP to book in doesn't work but we got a cancellation slot at 9pm via reception. The heated pool was a nice temperature. The weather was around 23 degrees when we were there which was very pleasant compared to the fog and low single digits when we got back to Luton..... As long as you recognise this is a big hotel, that comes with advantages and disadvantages, and its peripherally located at the edge of the resort you could do a lot worse.

Absolutely fabulous stay ! Food and drinks were amazing, customer service fabulous. Hotel is very big ,but never felt overcrowded. There are 3 pools - 1 heated during the winter. 5 bars, 1 buffet restaurant and 2 nights during the stay you can book dinner to enjoy Mexican or Asian food ( unfortunately we only managed to enjoy Mexican as Asian was only available on the night we were leaving). Hotel has pebble, black, clean sand beach ( take a lift down from upper level) or Papagayo beach is aprox 10-15 min walk . Hotel is situated at far end of Playa Blanca - 25 min walk to Marina , 40 min walk to Playa Blanca centre ( taxi cost around €7 ), walk is beautiful on well laid path by the beach . There are 2 supermarkets nearby and very small shopping centre with couple of shops and couple of eating places. Nearest pharmacy is in Playa Blanca centre. We booked Sea view room ( highly recommended to upgrade to sea view 👌) ,views were beautiful and balcony was very spacious. Evening entertainment was very good every night - we really enjoyed it. Have to say huge thanks to Sandos Papagayo for our amazing stay and we definitely will be back again . P.S. For Airport transfers we used Zip transfers - private return transfer was €106 for 2 of us.

We are a group of four friends, late fifties to seventy, who take a short break, usually in the autumn. Its around our twentieth holiday. If you travel with Jet 2, its drop off three of ten from Arecife Airport.Check in was quick, to the point and professional. No smiles or 'Welcome'.Given directions to the accomodation. Its a sprawling complex and initially takes a bit of navigating.Room was functional and clean.Larce balcony overlooking three pools and the ocean.Decent bathroom with shower over bath. Two single beds. Very comfortable, pillows too. There is a kettle and fridge. Some tea and coffee which is not replaced once used.No milk so buy from local supermarket. There are only four coathangers allocated per person. So time to explore. The hotel grounds appeared well looked after and clean. The hotel overlooks the ocean and beach. One of our group swam in the sea.The main bar is functional but lacks character and atmosphere. At times only one bar person on duty which could result in a fifteen minute wait for drinks. All drinks were fine. There is a fabulous terrace adjacent to the bar with great views of sunset. Very relaxing. There is also a pool bar and snack bar open throughout the night from eleven.I didnt attend any entertaiinment so can't comment. It seemed that most of the guests were mature in age.Taxis could be booked at reception. There is a small complex five minutes walk away with a supermarket and a few bars and restaurants. Now, for me, the star of the show. The food is fabulous with huge choice.Salads, soup, veggie, meat, fish, paella, stews, cheese, fruit, sweets and really good bread.Breakfast was equally as good. And all HOT,My opinion was that it was the best all inclusive food I have experienced. Trays were constantly topped up with fresh hot food.Soft drinks, beer and wine were self service and perfectly acceptable.Staff were very hard working and helpful. With temeratures of twenty eight daily it was a really great short break.I would have no hesitation returning and wished i could have stayed longer.Thank you Sandos and hope to see you again.

2nd stay at Sandos Papagayo, stayed in June and November. Highly recommend this hotel for couples and families. Would recommend upgrading to Royal elite , we stayed in superior room on our 1st stay and junior suite which was great providing so much extra space and added luxury with beautiful sea views. Service within the hotel was excellent, dining in the Royal elite restaurant offered a more relaxing personal experience with high quality food. Roof top terrace is a lovely place to be at sunset to relax, it provided branded drinks and indoor and outdoor seating area. Entertainment throughout the day was great to everyone busy with a good variety of activities for all ages. Night entertainment offered 2 shows nightly. Entertainment staff were very friendly and work so hard. Big thanks to Raul and Rami who made sure our kids were always included and having fun!! The assistant manager Eva also welcomed us throughout our holiday checking in to see if all okay with our stay. Finally the spa is well worth a visit. Last night tonight after 10 nights and don't want to leave. Thank you sandos papyago. We will be back !! From the Knowles family
