Our first visit to Lanzarote our first impression of this hotel was wow location and the sea view room was stunning
The room ...there was a safe but didn't work you have to pay for air-conditioning think it's €10 . The room was immaculately clean and nicely presented white walls tiled floor no frills there was a TV settee which was comfortable and a table and chairs no tea and coffee facilities but you can hire a kettle from reception
The bedroom was a good size bed were a bit hard for my liking and were two singles not a double
The bathroom had bath shower and good mail service for towels etc

We went all inclusive so three main meals are served in the restaurant but outside this time this area is closed the food was hit and miss and a few days we struggle with what was served

To the side of the restaurant there was a very large self service bar that was open 1-3pm and then a few hours in the evening it had wine beer water soft drinks juice tea coffee. I think this should be open all day as for another refreshment other than mealtime you had to go to the pool bar which is a few mins walk and there maybe some people who don't want to be around the pool but need basics like water etc and there are no other facilities even if you decide you would like a coffe in the evening before bed it's along way to walk back to your room with the cup as you can do this there are drop off point for this all over the hotel and this is brilliant

The pool is fab it's close to the beach the pool bar is a bit tired looking decore wise and needs a good overhaul the chairs outside are uncomfortable and I ended up with a bruise behind my knee and bum from these
Over all it's a lovely hotel but needs some money spending and some things looking at and it would be 5 star coz honestly location wise it's the most fantastic place

The staff are friendly and Sam and the rest of the entertainment staff work really hard too and are so friendly Sam especially knows everyone he makes it his job to be is a credit to the hotel

The beach has loads of sunloungers that have been sectioned off with natural stone to make it private for you like to sunbath and these are in abundance
Loads of areas and lounges around the pool too
We really enjoyed our stay and it's set the bar high as far as some elements and will possibly return but would love to see some small changes for a five star review

The hotel appeared to be stuck in a 1970's time warp, even down to the woodchip wallpaper in the rooms!! Plus points were that the rooms, although very basic and dated were very clean, better quality towels would be an improvement. The food in the buffet style restaurant was good with plenty of choice at all times, plentiful and of good quality. All the staff that we had contact were very friendly and helpful especially Gema at reception who was most helpful with regard to a problem with return transport to the airport. For a large hotel, it was surprising that other than a self service (very limited choice and strange opening hours) bar there was only one option to get a drink and that was the pool bar. In general the hotel appears to be a bit rundown and could do with a full makeover. The furniture and decor in the restaurant was not very good: old and dated. The location was remote although the "boardwalk" along the sea shore was good enabling long walks.

First impression was what have I let myself in for. Once I had told myself it was only a three star and explored the hotel was actually okay. Yes there are negatives which could be addressed but more positives and the hotel suited my needs. It all depends on what you want. I wanted a place to chill and recharge my batteries and that is what I got. As a solo traveller I felt safe. I can't comment on the entertainment as I didn't see any. I just relaxed on my balcony at night over looking the sea the view was fantastic.
Management please remove the chipped plates, give staff new white shirts in the dining room and keep all food restocked and covered in the pool bar. Most of the signage in the dining room has the English on but a few were missing. These are the basics. Free WiFi in the hole hotel would be a big advantage to guests like who like to just relax. I would have liked two pool towels but as I was a solo traveller I was only allowed one. I would have thought it wouldn't have made
much difference as I was paying for the hire. Your staff are all very polite and well mannered and a credit to you.
The negatives about the flies and the smokers in other reviews are a bit over the top. I will be returning soon

Came for Christmas was a bit worried due to other reviews but I can honestly say I had the best time. The food was amazing especially Christmas night as the hotel put special extra touches on and clapped all the holiday makers which I found was a really nice touch. My room was absolutely stunning with breath taking views on to the sea so I was able to catch the early morning sunrises and sunsets.

The staff were so friendly and my room was cleaned to a very high standard would highly recommend the work into the marina as the restaurants and bars are very cheap and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Will definitely be back to this hotel for certain..SO PLEASE IGNORE BAD REVIEWS!!! You will have a Fantastic Time Just like me..

Owing to our amazing experience during our first vacation, this was our second visit to SBH Royal Monica in Lanzarote!
Once again, we had a wonderful visit. The staff are very welcoming and speak a variety of languages, the food is excellent with a great variety, the situation of the hotel is stunning - it is located on the beach and the walk to Flamingo Beach is about 20 minutes and the walk to Playa Blanca, the town, is about 45 minutes, the rooms are very clean and have lots of space.
If you are looking for a calm hotel to spend the day reading by the sea, walking or swimming this is the perfect hotel!
You are given bathroom towels in your room and beach towels can be accessed at the main reception. The Wi-Fi is free and works on the beach.
I would 100% reccomend this hotel.

Need to be mindful that this was a birthday present to me so was grateful to get away however,,,

The receptionist Desiree was very helpful and very pleasant to deal with and the room cleaning staff were bright and friendly, also the sea view room had an excellent view but that’s where the good bits end.

Checked in at 11.45 to be told the restaurant opened at 12.30 so if we wanted a snack we had to go to the pool bar,,,, we waited for the restaurant.

In the room there is no fridge, no kettle, no way of keeping bottled drinks cool.

The restaurant is nothing more than a large room with what is best described as a field canteen in it with seating and a couple of coffee machines.

As we approached the food counter we could see flies crawling all over the food,,, this is UNACCEPTABLE by any standards.

Went to the poolbar to find the snacks, there was a tub of mixed salad uncovered on a side table and savaloy sausages basking in murky looking water alongside a tub of chips, again, flies were present on the food.

Decided there and then not to eat here.

You cannot get a drink before 7.30am

Don’t try to enter the restaurant after 2.30 to get a coffee, I did at 2.35 and got told to get out and go to the poolbar by a scruffy bearded waiter.

Payment for usage of the safe is 26€

You will need to pay a deposit for towels to take to the pool.

This is a bottom end budget hotel that has many failings and certainly not one that I would go back to.

Dear Mike S, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and rating of our hotel SBH Royal Monica. We value your comments and would like to address some of your concerns while responding to your criticisms: Regarding the presence of a few flies on the terrace, it's not uncommon in outdoor areas. However, we have strict pest control measures in place to minimize their impact on our guests' experience. Our snack offer is well-received by most clients as a quick and convenient option, but it is not intended to replace the lunch buffet. For coffee, guests can enjoy it throughout the day at the pool bar and during lunch and dinner at the bar just in front of the restaurant. We would also like to correct your criticism regarding the lack of refrigerators in the rooms. This is not mentioned in any catalogue. However, for guests who desire a kettle, we offer a premium service that includes this feature. You can find more details about this service at our reception desk. Best regards, The management

We stayed end of January with our 1 year old (16 months).

A wooden cot was already in the room for us made up with sheets and blanket. Our room had a massive bed, a seperate living area with table and chairs and massive sofa and a balcony with a table and chairs. Tons of space. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom, two massive wardrobes with Hangers and extra blankets.

The weather was cloudy with sunshine, got a good tan!

Beach towels are 10€ deposit each.

It's about a 20 min walk along the sea front to the main beach which is by Flamingo Hotel. Sandy and super clear water. Lots of people in the sea. You can walk to Playa Blanca which takes about 40 min.

The closest supermarket is a 10 min walk away, behind the hotel and walk towards the lighthouse direction. Much cheaper than the supermarkets on the sea front.

The hotel food was fresh and delicious. Not the biggest buffet but because it was smaller everything was cooked to perfection and nothing left out for too long. There's even cream cheese at breakfast. There was a kebab night and a shellfish night which were really good.

Sangria is delicious and on all inclusive.

High chairs not great for small children as had no straps and ours spent the whole time trying to climb out.

All staff were LOVELY! Made a big effort with our little girl.

Not a lot on for kids, didn't bother us as ours was too small to join in with that sort of thing anyway.

Swimming pool was cold but fine once you got in!

Small private beach for hotel guests which is mainly cute sections with sunbeds, so if you can get one it's nice and private.

Overall we had a lovely time. The hotel is dated, cracked tiles around etc, but the gardens were kept beautifully. Would come back if we found another good deal.

Had read the reviews before I booked and knew what I was expecting. I normally go for 4 star hotels, but this was the same price as a 4 with all inclusive included and offered a spa and gym, so I took a risk and it paid off!! Firstly, WOW the food was delicious with fresh fish daily with varied potatoes, salad and vegetables and more, I was impressed by the quality and healthy nature of the food options. Beer, wine and soft drinks could be accessed throughout the day from the pool bar. Secondly, the blissful sleep hearing the ocean waves all night from a sea view room on top floor (2nd) right on the ocean front. I was pleasantly surprised to see I was given a suite, with separate lounge area with dining table. The view from the south facing balcony was a dream and you could see Fuerteventura in the distance. Yes the mattress was firm and could hear the neighbours at times, but that didn’t bother me. The rooms are basic with no thrills, as expected for a 3 star, but was clean and in working condition. There was entertainment most nights, I enjoyed the swing singers whilst sipping sangria. Location was good as only 10mins walk to supermarket and bus stop (bus 30 takes you to Playa Blanca main town and close to all beaches of south Lanzarote). The hotel has its own private beach area in small coves along the ocean, which was unique. Both beach towels and air conditioning control can be borrowed for €10 each. Overall, I had a wonderful time in this hotel. It just needs modernising and then can charge more being a sea front hotel.

Arrived late due to a late flight to a very impatient receptionist who gave zero information about the hotel, we were advised by him there was food waiting for us but upon on viewing was very very poor and we dare not eat as the flys swarming round it indicated it had been sat there a while probably since dinner which they insisted was a kind gesture. A closing bar with a rude bartender, we let it go because it was after all 10pm. A room with no air con or a fridge nor drinking water provided until the next morning. No kettle to at least boil some water to drink nor condiments for a morning coffee. We paid for all inclusive but spent our days avoiding the hotel mainly due to the rude staff and favouritism of the French guests as we later discovered it is a French hotel. French entertainment including baby shark in French, karaoke in French and wooooo a French quiz. All perfectly fine if it was advertised as s French hotel. Drinks and service very poor. Rooms not cleaned properly, not a member of staff in sight for any kind of help even for the smallest of requests like an ash tray in a bar area. Charming bar staff who enjoy slamming drinks onto the bar and alcohol free cocktails which we were only made aware of when we questioned the bar staff. We depended on other guests for information whom I might add were not very impressed themselves. If you want an outdated, scruffy hotel with dead plants to look at for your morning view (I have pictures) with unhelpful staff this is the perfect place to spend your money.

The hotel is 4K from the main town which can be reached by walking the length of the promenade, so very easy. We had a room with balcony and sea views, the view was stunning and well worth paying extra for. Food was quite good, especially on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday - hot, fresh , interesting dishes, most typically Spanish and all delicious. Saturday to Tuesday the food was okay. The pool bar looks like it has been hastily rebuilt after a bombing raid! This is where the nightly entertainment takes place so nobody seemed to mind very much. It’s located in the hotel grounds but away from the main building so it’s not at all noisy in the room at night. The entertainment staff work very hard all day and into the night and are always cheerful. The hotel and restaurant staff are pleasant and cheerful, they always have a smile. Room cleanliness is excellent; we were there for a week and the beds were changed every other day.
There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants about 500 meters from the hotel along the road and a small beach restaurant 200 meters in the opposite direction which serves coffee, drinks and food from 10am until around 9pm every day.
The hotel needs some updating but it’s in a lovely quiet location. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and have booked to return in a few weeks time.
