Enjoyed very much the seasonal game dish with traditional Dutch recipe, served very nicely for two persons on one big dish. This is a traditional autumn event, it was therefore also quite busy at Erkelens.

We ate here whilst staying nearby at Hof Van Saksen. As a family of 4 we had a very good meal in the restaurant. The restaurant is clearly very popular, but despite being very busy, the service was excellent. We will certainly return again as we plan to visit the area with friends next year.

For a workvisit i spend almost two weeks in this hotel. Over the years i've seen a lot of hotels, but this one is one in a million. When ik checked in the owner shakes my hand and asked how my day was. Every morning the owner asked me how my night was, wishes me a tasteful breakfast en a... More

It is game season at Erkelens and they made a tremendous mixed game dish for two people, at a price (35 Euros per person). It had deer beefsteak, grilled grouse, hare and game ragout, also brussel's sprouts, red cabbage, mash, apple with filling, cooked red pears, all the traditionals done to perfection. Served with salad and a great house wine.... More

This time of the year Erkelens serves white asparagus dishes, a Dutch country special. Delicious prepared the traditional way (with boiled potatoes, ham, egg and butter) or with deer steak and spinach. They also have imaginative desserts such as the Drentse Aa Yoghurt (see picture). Despite a very busy saturday evening in the Restaurant, they managed to keep the pace... More

Erkelens is a lovely family owned boutique hotel in the rural village of Rolde, Drenthe. Their game tastery (wildproeverij in Dutch) is great, a special event which happens a couple of evenings in the autumn - reservations required. We however limited ourselves to an early game ragout meal (see photos) which was also outstanding - traditionally served with foxberries, chicory-walnut... More

ı stay in this hotel often for business reason, the hotel is clean, silent and it is inside of a seat village, the owner and staff always welcomes you very well. nowadays there is construction on the village roads, you might be easily lost in the village and you can see the beauty of nature combined with village

Two members of my family had another great winter style local game meal, as always somewhat pricey but fantastically well prepared in a pleasant setting. The kitchen and service in the Cafe and Restaurant of Erkelens really is very good in a traditional style and the ambiance is very pleasant as well. The only gripe could be their limited opening... We visit hotel Erkelens regularly for meals only. The service levels are vey good, the owners know what hospitality means and they also select and coach the junior staff carefully. The kitchen is outstanding, if rich and somehwat pricey. In particular the seasonal local produce, such as white asparagus in the spring, mussels in the summer, and game in the... More
