Monte do Peral is a treat in so many ways. The scenery is stunning, the accommodation country luxurious and our hosts so, so friendly and helpful. Marianne's breakfasts are worth the journey by themselves, and every morning is different. The scenery in the region is gorgeous and there is a pottery town nearby where you can see Portuguese pottery actually being made. We loved a night out under the stars at the local observatory and also cromlechs in the region. Evora is nearby. Spend a few days here if you can. Great for couples and families alike.
Very quiet place, very good room plenty of space and clean. Stuff are very pleasent and available all the time. Breakfast is good but simple, homebread, can have more fruit. Swimming pool is very good inclufing a space for jacuzzi. I think all roooms are very good. Do you wan't to rest? This is the wright place. Good price vs quality. Room with no AC but with heated or cooled floor complemented with an electric fan and it works very well
Thoughtful extras turned this accommodation into a highlight to the point where we changed from 2 to 4 nights: Detached “cabins” meant extra privacy, welcome bottle of wine (perfect for evening charcuterie style eats sitting on the porch listening to the birds and taking in the gorgeous view-sublime), robes, comfortable mattress topper, magnifying mirror, towels changed every couple days, outside kitchen, large multi-language library and finally the smell of homemade breads and cakes at breakfast. We generally have difficulty sleeping, yet found everything about this place contributed to restful nights. If you are there on a Saturday it’s worth going to the market in a nearby town to stock up on a range of local food-details from your hosts.
We spent 10 days at the “Monte do Peral” lodge and loved it. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. Rooms have terrace and most of them directly overlook the countryside. Our goal was just to rest, I can't imagine a better location. It is very quiet and allows sufficient privacy between guests. The starry nights (no light pollution) and the sounds of nature (cuckoos, thrushes, crickets, etc.) are incomparable. Marianne and Jos were very attentive to what we needed. We are celiac and they kindly adapted the breakfasts to our needs. The only let-down: not being able to enjoy the pool area because of the season in which we visit them. To sum up, a perfect place to reset ourselves from stress and our rhythm of life.
Monte do Peral has redefined relaxation for us. In most parts of the world, time is money, but here, time is time. When you arrive you are met by Jos in his white fedora, and Marianne's warm smile. The only restaurant in Monte Juntos was amazing. The food was melt in your mouth delicious and very fairly priced. If you time your visit right, you will be mesmerized by a starry sky. Breakfast is hand made so the jams excite the palate and the raisin bread is sublime. The room (more of a private villa) is vibrant and romantic. The extra touch of naming rooms instead of numbering them was not lost on us. Camoes was perfect. Watching a shepard and his sheep graze just beyond the pool is surreal. A lovely hammock amid fig and olive trees is icing on the cake. Heads up... payment is in cash.. so pick up your Euros before coming.. Finding Monte do Peral may challenge your GPS so know before you go..know how you get there. The room is well appointed. Easy to base to enjoy Elvas, Estremoz, and other Alelentajo locations.…
