I stay here several times a year when visiting family and it never disappoints! The staff are so welcoming, the food is divine and, from someone who dislikes dogs, the dog is adorable! My rooms have always been clean, well themed and comfortable. As I'm sure others have said, location is not amazing but thats not the hotel's fault in... More

We were upgraded to a suite but no dressing table and mirror, two in the bedroom but too high! The bathroom was large, lovely bath and shower but no shelf for toiletries and no door!! Lots of lovely pictures and lamps but so cluttered. The barmaid was very brusque, she was taking orders, serving drinks and food clearing tables, I... More

My husband and I did an overnight stay here on our fleeting trip to England. We really enjoyed our stay here! The room had everything we needed, comfortable bed, ensuite, plus quirky extras like the staircase to nowhere in a cupboard! (used to go to upstairs) Tony is a great host, willing to have a chat and answer the many... More

Poor decoration - very dusty - cracked sink - grotty shower - welcome to room 2 - Tony the landlord asked me " what do you expect in a building this age?" I expect the website to show true pictures of my room and the staff to be helpful - not a happy customer

This was a trip of two experiences, one awful and one very good. The awful is that it is in a state of disrepair, windows not shutting properly, poor finish as in bathroom door did not close plug sockets coming away from the wall. The owner did try and put this down to the charm of its age, however my... More

Me and my husband stayed here as a last minute break, we loved our stay here! Food was great and the accommodation was amazing ( we stayed in one of the cabins). We will definitely be coming back again in the future. The only criticism I would give is that it could do with a tidy up in communal areas,... More

Shelton mallet seems to be closed on a Sunday but found a pub serving food. Did not eat here. Stayed in a wood cabin. OK. Bed a bit hard and lighting not brilliant. Electric shower stuck on very hot with hardly any pressure. Breakfast good though.

Great food, drink, customer service with a charm you have to feel to believe. It felt like stepping back in time with all the relics and tastefully displayed nic nacs. The meals were big and flavours even bigger, by the looks of the age of the place they've perfected their craft of making weary travellers welcome over the ages.

The good thing about the hotel when I booked it was it was cheap. It was obvious though when I turned up that there was a reason for this. To get into the hotel you have to open a metal gate and walk across the courtyard. There was a "Beware of the dog" sign on the gate and behind the... More

We booked a family room and in laws booked a cabin, They arrived first with the children and was greeted by a barking dog which led to the kid's being terrified, the in laws cabin was dusty and the bunting on the ceiling was stained, everywhere was dusty. There was a double socket underneath the sink which is just an... More
