Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely hotel. From the staff at front desk to the bar staff and late staff on checking out they were friendly, helpful and pleasant. The room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. Massive thank you to the lady on reception when all 7 of us turned up, your patience was appreciated wish I got your name.

Was not informed if car park charges at the time of booking ,which was an additional £7 per car per night . Also ,unusually ,the staff seemed very moody and fed up ,both in reception and bar so went elsewhere for a drink . The room was clean but the whole thing just felt a bit tired . The water pressure in the shower seemed low but was ok overall . Was woken at 6 am by a jet landing so I suspect not triple glazed as at the Heathrow hotel where you hear nothing from the airport . Plus points are it’s a short walk to the terminal and the excellent Metro service into Newcastle and beyond .

I have been to this Premier Inn a few times before. The staff are always very pleasant, helpful and friendly. The food is very good. The rooms are a good standard too. This is one of the better Premier Inns I have stared in and is obviously well managed.

We stayed here following a late return off a flight. It just felt grubby straight as you arrived in reception. Sheets appeared clean but I tried not to look round the room too closely as walking down the corridor it smelt a bit of urine. We arrived at like 2/3 am so we just slept and left. Didn't feel comfortable to use the tea making facilities.

The good thing is this hotel is only 2 minutes walk from Newcastle Airport and from there you can catch the excellent Metro to Gateshead, Newcastle, Sunderland (55 minutes from the airport to Sunderland) and towns and villages in between. We booked this hotel as we flew to and from Newcastle Airport to attend a family funeral and we usually like Premier Inns. This is the poorest example of the chain we’ve stayed in. We booked an accessible room as my husband walks with a stick and we have often been placed a long walk from reception and the restaurant. We will never do this again as the bed was very small and I found it very hard. There was plenty of space in the room and the bathroom plus sufficient hanging and shelf space for our 2 night stay. However the heating was not on before our arrival and the room was 16 degrees C. Despite following the instructions on the card in the room the heating kept reverting to 16. We did ask for a blanket and were given an extra duvet (they don’t have blankets), which was very heavy as an extra cover. We booked dinner in Premier Inn’s own restaurant (there is no adjoining Harvester or similar pub). The food was awful. My husband’s fish and chips were just about ok but there were bones in the fish and the chips were not good. My pizza was completely flat and overcooked, I left most of it. There was very little choice for vegetarians. My glass of Merlot tasted like the bottle had been open for a few days. Breakfast was the usual good Premier Inn spread, except I noticed a thick layer of dust on top of the coffee machine. It should be noted that breakfast doesn’t start until 6.30 am, which is too late for early airport check ins (there are several restaurants once you have passed through Security at the airport). My husband ordered a cooked breakfast but this took ages to come and was not what he’d ordered, although the quality was good. The staff were pleasant and friendly enough but there were only two of them at dinner and one at breakfast, not enough to cope with the number of guests. Finally, it does say on the card that holds your room key that you have to tell Reception if you want your room cleaned. We didn’t notice this. In fact, we discovered, it means you don’t get your dirty towels replaced or your coffee/tea/milk replaced although you can do the latter at Reception.

Convenient location and genuinely attentive staff made it pre holiday stay worthwhile. Regrettably however the maintenance and upkeep of the hotel is not what I've come to expect from a trusted brand. Decor and carpets looking tired and in need of updating, probably not surprisingly. But the bar/restaurant toilet facilities were very poor. Premier Inn should do better.

Quick check in and room was great. Service was great in the premier inn and the restaurant. Thomas in the restaurant did a great job with the help of Kirsty. Would recommend staying here and will book again when we travel from Newcastle airport
