Very quiet and beautiful nature scenery right outside. Very warm and cosy inside and the owners are very welcoming. Absolutely perfect for weekends away with children as it's just 10 minutes away from the landmark!

I absolutely loved my three-night stay at Slochd Moor Lodge, The lodge has an enviable position overlooking beautiful pine woodlands and moorland, but is close to the main road for easy access to the rest of the Cairngorms. Ian and Liz were wonderful hosts, unobtrusive but always there to answer questions or assist with any problems (not that there were...

My friend and I stayed in the dormitory for two nights. The hostel was great, very clean and cozy. The kitchen is very well equipped, the living room comfortable, and the owners friendly and helpful. The location was quiet and peaceful despite it being right by the A9, and very close to Aviemore and local attractions. Only negative thing was...

Liz and Ian provide a wonderful atmosphere at this very special place - calm, peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in a clean and friendly family room for two nights. There is a large lounge and a well equipped kitchen. Liz and Ian find just the right balance between looking after you and letting you get on with it. Will definitely...

We stayed here at the end of May 2015 and we were delighted at how lovely this hostel was. The hostel was spotless, comfortable and had the best equipped kitchen we have ever come across in a hostel. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful, especially when it came to giving us advice on how to tackle Ben Nevis in...

The hostel is clean and comfortable. Although it is right by the A9 it is quiet and close to great walking. We went up in the winter and also really enjoyed the cross country skiing. All the equipment, trails, open country and tuition required is on hand. Ian, the owner, is very helpful and a nice bloke in a highland way....

We stayed here last January and would not recommend it. The owner regularly visits the lodge to turn all the lights off and lurk about in the dark. As two girls travelling alone we felt extremely uncomfortable with this, he also advised us to have a two minute shower, and to turn off the shower when we out soap on...

I enjoyed my stay at the lodge, it was clean and well kept. The showers were excellent, there's an extensive kitchen and the owners were reasonably friendly. There is excellent walking trails over the railway bridge behind the hostel which I highly recommend. A few slight things to consider are that check in is from 17.00, also the turn off...

It's hard to believe this place bills itself as a hostel. The rooms are bright, clean and cosy, and the shared living room particularly is way above what you'd expect from a hostel. There's free wifi, a good television set, lots of books on the shelves and the furniture is quite new, which along with the decor makes it feel...

one of the best places I have stayed at. We stayed here while visiting Loch Garten to see the birds, and enjoying a steam train ride from Broomhill to Aviemore. The location was perfectly quiet and scenic but close to tourist attractions or even to Inverness.. Kitchen and lounge great, beds great (and no end so you can still fit...
