This has always been a great pub with lots going on:- live music, real ales, great atmosphere but now it has opened a really nice restaurant. The decor is very nice and contemporary, the menu is mouth watering and the food lives up to expectation. The staff were great. Whats not to like! Highly recommended!

I visited the Cross Keys with 3 friends for an evening meal. The food was just sublime, I had the sirloin steak and it literally melted in my mouth. Delicious. Everything was excellent, will definitely be returning soon.

What a gem of a place. Came across the Cross Keys on our way home following a lovely walk with the dogs. The Sunday lunch was the best we've had in a very long time. The beef melted in the mouth with homemade Yorkshire puddings. The pork was delicious with crackling. Vegetables served separately and cooked to perfection with red...

We were a large party, remembering an absent friend and enjoying a long promised Sunday lunch. The Cross Keys was SO welcoming after a long hill walk, with its cosy fires and friendly staff. Menu choices were very tempting and put together with original thought and care. Our starters of ham hock, creamy mushrooms and soup had the thumbs up....

The food was perfectly good, mussels fresh but a bit small I thought, steak quite tasty. And sauce and veggies fine but the service was poor. The publican was very friendly but his two female waiting staff did not get it right at all. One, the more friendly one misheard two orders for fillet steak so they all came as...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Cross Keys has been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for 23 years and is one of only three pubs in Shropshire which is listed in CAMRA's Inventory of Historic Pubs with Unspoilt Interiors. The Cross Keys is a conversation pub, no Juke Box or recorded music, but live Irish music on Thursday nights and music events from time to time in our function room. The Cross Keys is located in the quiet village of Selattyn, close to Offa's Dyke footpath and 3 miles from the market town of Oswestry. The historic towns of Chester and Shrewsbury are only 30 minutes away. A post office and shop are less than 5 minutes by car and there are numerous places to eat within 15 minutes drive. The area is quiet, very beautiful and will be especially attractive to walkers, bird watchers, golfers, fishermen and those who appreciate fine beer. Attached to The Cross Keys is a Self Contained Self Catering Cottage, this is close to Offa's Dyke and ideal for walkers. ... more   less
