Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We really cannot recommend enough staying at West Marden Farm when you are visiting the South Downs for a family break or attending one of the many Goodwood Events. Whenever we visit Goodwood for motorsport events staying at West Marden Farm is our first choice. The properties are fantastic, well appointed and and in a great location that provides easy access to the local area. We have stayed in all three cottages over the years and really can't fault them in anyway and each one has its own charm and character. Gaynor and Carole certainly make you feel very welcome and are on hand should you need anything and that's one of the reasons why we keep coming back year after year. Looking forward to booking agin next year.

I've lost count of the times we've stayed in Old Stables but every holiday has been a joy not only because of the wonderful accommodation and position but also the friends we have made in Carol, Martin and Gaynor, the loveliest, friendliest hosts anywhere on earth. This year we had beautiful weather (until the storm arrived!) and thoroughly recommend the walk right round Chidham and walking on Harting Down to add to the wonderful walks right from the front door. Everything here is first class and long may we continue our yearly week here. Thank you.

A very enjoyable holiday. The accommodation was excellent in idyllic surroundings. The cottage was beautifully furnished with all the facilities we needed. We were warmly welcomed and well looked after by Carol. It was a pleasure to be able to eat and sit in the private courtyard, and the warm swimming pool was a real bonus.

We (family of 4) have just returned from a 5 night stay at The Old Stables. This is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed at. The property was clean, stylish and had everything we needed. Carole and Martin are friendly & thoughtful hosts, and recommended local attractions and eateries. Our children spent hours in the outdoor pool. There are public footpaths which lead to high ground with stunning views & a local pub (2 min walk). We visited Chicester & Goodwood . However it was spending time at West Marden Farm that made our holiday so memorable.

We were looking for somewhere to stay convenient for Queen Elizabeth Country Park. I found the Old Stables purely by chance and had a friendly chat with the owners, who helpfully let me know that the park is a short drive away. The holiday let is fantastic, very comfortable, spacious and beautiful furnished, and fully equipped. I slept better in the property than I do at home as the place is quiet and the bed so comfy We were greeted personally by Gaynor who made us feel really welcome and checked in with us to ensure everything was okay. This really is a five star place at a very affordable price. Lots of attractions, places to visit and a good pub only a short walk away. Highly recommended.

Stayed at Keepers, two couples. Plenty of room, both bedrooms were luxurious and extremely spacious and clean, with TVs. Kitchen equipment covered everything you could possibly need, the best we have ever seen. Welcome pack was appreciated, and hosts were friendly and accommodating. Lovely setting in a quiet village. Good WiFi, and pool was excellent, albeit with a little restrictive on the availability. Can certainly recommend.

Our stay in the West Marden Farm Keepers Cottage was outstanding. The cottage is an excellent accommodation with two very large bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms. The kitchen is better stocked for appliances and utensil than our own home. Hosts were very amenable and kept out of our way. To top this off there was a wonderful outdoor heated swimming pool. Perfectly sited for the local area with lots of things to do.

We have just returned from a lovely stay at Keepers cottage. This is the best self catering property that we have ever stayed at. The complimentary Victoria sandwich on arrival was excellent & the milk & wine were very much appreciated too. Keepers cottage is beautifully furnished & excellently equipped. Everything that you could think of is provided. We had an outside terrace to have meals on & a warm swimming pool to use also. The property is located in gorgeous quiet countryside where you can easily do local walks. Thanks to Carole & Martin who went out of their way to ensure that our holiday was thoroughly enjoyed. Hopefully, we will return & see you again.

Absolutely delighted to return to Old Stables postponed from last year due to reasons beyond our control!! It was as if we'd never been away - lovely to see Carole and family again and relax in the super comfortable, spacious accommodation with everything one could possibly need. We just cannot fault the calm ambiance or the position, straight out the door and walking in gorgeous countryside. This stay we were surrounded by fields of blue linseed - beautiful. With great weather this year we made good use of the large, private courtyard to rest, sip wine and watch swifts overhead. West Marden Farm is a wonderful base and once you've visited you will be hooked as we are. So many villages and places to visit nearby and many country walks from base. We are already looking forward to next year, the delicious home made welcome cake and the caring family we now regard as friends. Thank you.

We spent May/June half term in Barley Cottage with the kids and the dog. It really felt like home from home, everything is so comfy and there’s everything you need. This was our second visit and Carole has made some fantastic improvements, notably the large terrace, which is a wonderful sun trap. There are amazing walks nearby, across the downs, but also such excellent places to visit by car. The beautiful beach at West Wittering (you must book parking ahead or they’ll turn you away), lovely beach and sand dunes at West Beach Littlehampton, great picturesque pubs on the harbour - Anchor Bleu and the Crown and Anchor, and we had a fantastic lunch at The Crab & Lobster in Siddlesham with a walk at Pagham Harbour afterwards. It’s an amazing area and Barley Cottage was the perfect place to come back to, to relax on the squidgy sofas and watch a movie. Thank you so much Carole, Martin & Gaynor.
