Our daughter had her small family wedding at Altskeith Country House last week. We would like to thank Alison who is superwoman all she is missing is a cape!! for all the effort and dedication she put into us having the best time we could have asked for. The location is stunning and the grounds are absolutely beautiful and make a fabulous backdrop for wedding pictures. We would also like to thank Yas who provided us with an absolute feast - with all his specialty meats and sides and sticky toffee pudding for dessert they all went down a treat. We loved the Italian wood fired pizzas in the evening along with Alison’s delicious cocktails a porn star martini being a new favourite. The house and bedrooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. Breakfast was again another feast with everything you could have asked for. We can’t thank you enough for making our daughters day so special. With love, Mike and Liz xx

I enjoyed a delicious breakfast in a superb location, and the room was good. There were sensible covid precautions without excessive caution (cf my review of the guesthouse in Oban). Dinner was generally good, though I was disappointed by the rather tough steak; when I mentioned this to our host he assured me that it was cooked in a water bath so tenderness was almost guaranteed and any toughness was just bad luck (he didn't offer to replace it). When we asked about breakfast service we were told that this was 8.30-9.30, which is a small window and a little late. The rooms (including our bedroom) are spacious and well decorated. It would be a lovely setting for a wedding, with a stream flowing through the grounds to add to the experience. And then there's the loch, just across the road.

We arrived on Friday, for my nephew's wedding and we were made to feel so welcome. The staff were kind and considerate, the food was amazing. They were very aware of their responsibilities within this COVID environment and I felt very safe. Alison ensured all the guests knew the rules and they did an amazing job. The food was of a really high quality and we enjoyed lovely smoked salmon and Brisket to die for!!!! Great breakfasts and yummy pizzas! The wedding was managed really well and the resident duck even helped out with Page Duck duties! A massive thank you to Alison and her team - you did a fantastic job. We had a wonderful wedding day and a memorable stay. Thank you Alison for ensuring my stay was a safe and very enjoyable one. I would highly recommend this as a wedding venue or a great place for a weekend away to enjoy the view of Loch Ard, Ben Lomand and the tranquil setting.

Myself and my partner fell in love with Altskeith at first sight! The view is breathtaking and the house itself is decorated beautifully. Alison and Yas are very warm and welcoming and looked after us and our 2 little ones during our stay here (2019). We hope to visit again some day soon. Thank you for all your hospitality.

This is set in a beautiful settings overlooking the lake. It is in the middle of nowhere and that is one of the reasons I chose this place. Alison ( the owner) was very good at communicating by email before we got there with a few queries. Due to COVID, they have had to make quite a few changes. The room that we stayed in had the bed moved around ( I think), so was much less roomier than what the photos online show. This was by the far the smallest room we stayed in our whole trip to Scotland and so had a bit of difficulty on where to put our luggage. So I would recommend booking a bigger room. Otherwise, everything was pretty much spot on. Alison was very hands on and nothing was any trouble. She has a good bar and made some good gin recommendations. The dinner was simple but well cooked and tasty but expensive. The breakfast menu which you got by scanning a QR code was good. Service at both dinner and breakfast was very slow but it was ok with us. Overall, I would highly recommend this place and you will be very well looked after by Alison and her crew. Just book a bigger room.

Had a great few nights staying here at the start of our Scottish adventure. Staff were fantastic. Room was great with good views. The views from the hotel are amazing. Alison and her team could not have been more accommodating. I would highly recommend staying here. The food was lovely, I would recommend their smoked salmon and the full Scottish breakfast. The bar has been set very high for the rest of our trip. Thanks to Alison, Yas and their staff.

Beautiful setting, spotlessly clean, every effort to make us welcome & it felt that the stay was personalised. Nothing too much trouble, dinner was lovely as was breakfast. In-house smoked salmon delicious closely followed by the haggis! Appreciated the fresh milk, Tunnocks tea cakes & caramel wafers in the rooms - yum. Would love to go back 💕🥂

Arrived feeling exhausted after months completing a development project. Wonderfully relaxing, idyllic location right on Loch Ard - who can argue with those views! Owners ensured we were well looked after, nothing was too much trouble. Delicious pizza from the big pizza oven. Amazing choice of gins and other spirits. Enjoyed a fabulous breakfast with views across Loch Ard. Even the local red squirrel made a entrance, totally mesmerising to watch him scamper across the lawns. We stayed in room 9 which is just outside by the main entrance, perfect for a 2 night stay. Left having recharged our batteries and planning our next trip.
