Glencoe House was a very memorable experience. We stayed in October 2023 in the self catering rooms. I was worried since the suites inside the house were already booked, but there was no reason to worry!!!! The self catering Strathcona Lodge room number 11 that we booked was so charming, luxurious & very large!! It was well stocked beyond anything we had ever experienced in our fairly extensive travels. They had thought of every need we might have!!! The room included breakfast and lunch foods and gourmet frozen meals if you wanted to stay in for dinner. Also, a very important feature was the washer/dryer combo unit in our room, which we appreciated having so much! The check in, check out process was flawless - quick and easy. The grounds of Glencoe House are just lovely, and the air there is crisp and fresh because of all the large, mature trees surrounding the area! I cannot recommend Glencoe House more highly, it was one of our best travel experiences ever!!

Glencoe House is an absolute Scottish Highlands dream! We are very well-traveled, and this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in! We were in one of the Strathcona Lodges for 6 nights. The lodges are in the old horse stables and have been tastefully remodeled with modern decor. The whole unit was absolutely perfect in every way from the comfortable beds to the excellent kitchen and hot tub. They have truly thought of every detail and anticipated our every need. The honesty bar and the provided meals were absolutely fantastic, and we really appreciated the flexibility this allowed us in our schedule. The meals came in clutch for us since many restaurants are closed on certain days of the week and it can be hard to find a place to eat out. There is a small grocery store nearby, but having the meals provided in the lodge was so easy! You will not be disappointed in Glencoe House! They even cleaned and dried our hiking boots after basically mud sliding down the Pap of Glencoe! True 5-star experience and we would definitely stay here again!

It has been 40 years since we honeymooned in Scotland and now we wanted special experiences and views everywhere we went on this vacation. Glencoe House was one of the highlights of this trip, and by far the best hotel experience for us ever. We stayed for 3 nights and had time after our daily 15-mile hikes on the West Highland Way to explore the surrounding gardens and a lake built by the original owner as a gift to his wife!

Glencoe House is maintained in its original historic splendor, with furnishings that are beautiful. Upon entering, we were greeted by James, a Scot in a kilt, who showed us to our suite (number 5) and gave us a historic orientation. This suite, maybe one of the "smaller" ones, had a huge bathroom (shower, sinks, heated towels), another room with side by side soaking tubs (with bubble bath, soaking salts, heated towels) with an incredible loch view, a large bedroom with king size bed, a sitting room with a grand piano and comfortable seating, and our own private dining room, again with a beautiful loch view, for en suite dining of every meal. The food was excellent, and the servers and service were excellent. Where else do you get a visit from a french chef asking what you would like for dinner? The breakfasts included a wide array of Scottish foods, as well as traditional fare. The refrigerator and bar in the dining room had any type of wine, whisky, soda, and other things. The hotel and grounds were always nice and quiet, despite it being completely occupied every night. The entire time we were thinking that this must be how royalty really lives!

We have traveled a lot over the years and stayed in a large number of great hotels, including some of the best in Scotland. Glencoe House is the best of the best!

This was our first stop on our weeklong tour of Scotland. First of, area of Glencoe is astounding! The valley was just so entrancing and the walks are unbelievable.
Our stay at Glencoe House was very good. We selected Suite 2 and the views from the very large suite were breaktaking. The Hot tub was A+ - very hot, clean and large and again overlooking amazing vistas (specifically the loch's edge). The maxi bar was great. The towels and bathrobes, fluffy. Breakfast and dinner served in suite at the large dining room table. They had staff come in to present each course. The food was very very good. Though, not a huge fan of having meals in the suite because it also meant staff coming in and out to serve and clear up plates.
The grounds of the hotel are lovely - well maintained walks galore.
Overall, recommend and just be aware you are paying a large premium to do so. I'm still not sure I would book again at the price (740 GBP/night, which is comparable to The Fife Arms and about 3x more than the area) but we enjoyed our staff and also the staff is helpful and friendly.

Suite 2 (which is 1367 square feet) is our most popular suite offering fantastic views across Loch Leven from the lounge, and the Pap of Glencoe from the bedroom. Our in-suite dining is one of our unique features and is very popular with our guests, The vast majority of guests choosing to dine with us on every night of their stay. What more can I say about this place that hasn’t been said already? Without a doubt, it is one of the best hotel experiences you can ever have. This was my second visit to Glencoe House and it was just as special as the first – and what a high bar to maintain.

We stayed in Suite 1 and the antique décor is beautiful with plush sofas and stylings. You instantly feel relaxed and at home when you enter. Somehow it has an inherent cosy feeling mixed in with the finery. The room has luxuries such as a wine selection, full bar, and an amazing hot tub out the back. There is nothing – and I mean nothing – like sitting in the hot tub on a sunny day, taking in the gorgeous vista of the rugged highlands and Loch Leven.

The food is also sublime, and dining is a very unique experience in the hotel. Breakfast and dinner are provided as in-room dining, so the amazing staff bring Michelin star quality food to your own personal dining table in your suite, which also happens to have an amazing view of the bay. Yes, the experience is as good as that sounds. The cooking staff are also so accommodating for gluten and dairy allergies, and were able to make special meal requests for my partner who is intolerant to both. And the bespoke dishes were lovely.

If I had to try and name what is so special about Glencoe House compared to other hotels (because you only need to read all the reviews to see that it definitely is special), I think it’s that the experience feels more like a chilled-out luxury retreat than a hotel stay. Everything is brought to you, everything is done for you, everything is available to you in your room, everything is comfort. All you have to do is eat, drink, relax in the hot tub, go for stunning walks in the grounds, and enjoy the tranquillity. Trust me, within minutes of entering your hotel room, you’ll find your inner zen. I’ve never felt so relaxed so quickly in any stay I’ve had anywhere.

So, if a chilled-out luxury experience of the highest quality is what you want … this is the place for you. No discussion.

This very expensive hotel provides sumptuous rooms in the main house, and lodges adjacent to the main house. We stayed in one of the lodges and it was very well equipped and very clean and comfortable. It is self catering if you are staying the lodge. They provide frozen meals which you can heat in the microwave, and there is a full kitchen, or you can eat in the nearby village. The setting is superb and our visit was enjoyable and comfortable.

Wow. Such an amazing place to stay. My wife and I stayed in the lodge for two nights. The only complaint that I have is that we didn't stay longer. I wish we had stayed longer because it was an absolutely amazing place to stay. We stayed in one of the lodges that is self catering. They provide a stocked refrigerator that has fresh breakfast foods and they also have complimentary, high quality, frozen meals that you can cook at night. The rooms are very well appointed with a comfortable bed, a fireplace, dishwasher, kitchen, washer, dryer, jacuzzi, kitchen table, cookware, and more. I am not joking when I say that a person could actually live here because the whole lodge is quite large and has everything that you need.

If you find yourself in Glencoe, you must stay here. It is one of my favorite places that I have ever stayed. Just fantastic.

My husband and I spent five nights in suite two. We had such a great experience we have already rebooked for a longer stay next year!

The hotel offers complete privacy in a beautiful setting. Think of Glencoe House more like your own country home rather than a hotel. We hardly saw another guest, despite the hotel being almost full. The suites are huge and have everything you need, with the staff promptly delivering any extra supplies at a moments notice.

We received exceptional service from the team at Glencoe House. Each day we met the chef to discuss what was on the menu. As a vegan, I’d let the hotel know in advance my dietary requirements and I was very impressed with the effort they made to provide delicious and varied vegan meals each day. No request was too much trouble.

Breakfast and dinner were served in our suite each day at our candle lit table. This gave us complete privacy for intimate and romantic meals. We had the same waiter most days which again is a nice touch as he got to know our preferences and we didn’t even need to ask. The hotel also provided packed lunches for us to take on our adventures each day, again offering me several vegan options which they had prepared specially.

Housekeeping is of a very high standard and the suite was serviced daily at our request. Although we never saw a housekeeper, they somehow remain invisible while carrying out the hard work!

Suite two is a very large one bedroom apartment. It has a large drawing room with a real open fire, a large bathroom with double shower and bath, a large bedroom and then a large outdoor terrace overlooking Loch Leven and the Pap of Glencoe with a modern private hot tub. The suite has a very well priced honesty bar with half bottles of spirits, a variety of red, white and sparkling wine, snacks and mixers.

On arrival you can drive your car right to the front door for unloading, but then guests are asked to park in a car park slightly further away from the house. This adds to the tranquility of the house as you can’t see or hear other guests coming or going in their cars.

The hotel grounds are beautiful with multiple ponds. The hotel sits upon a hill overlooking the picturesque Loch Leven and at the foot of the Pap of Glencoe. The village of Glencoe is a short stroll away. It's about an hour to Fort William and the Nevis Range via a scenic loch drive. The stunning drive of Glen Etive road is 15 minutes away and you can walk to the Clachaig Inn.

We can’t wait to stay at Glencoe House again. Thank you to the wonderful team of staff who made us feel so welcome and spoilt!

We are incredibly humbled to read your very kind review of your first stay at Glencoe House. We always say that there is no greater honour than when guests choose to return after their first stay. It is great testament to the work that the team do. We are incredibly fortunate that Lord Strathcona built this wonderful house in Glencoe, and we are able to share the splendour of it with our guests. I have already shared your review with the kitchen team and they wish to pass on their thanks. They take great pleasure in chatting with all of our guests and creating bespoke menus to meet your needs and wants. We look forward to welcoming you back next year! Most of the reviews here cover of everything very nicely with regard to the essential items i.e. the building/suites are beautiful, the scenery is stunning and the whole experience of staying at Glencoe House is something to cherish. So I won't wax lyrical about that.

However, what sets it apart is the people. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome which set the tone for the duration of our four days there and it continued throughout our stay.

Everyone at the hotel is clearly determined to make your stay a very special one. From the people on reception and the wonderful ladies who looked after our meals, to the Chef who couldn't have been more helpful - and is exceptionally good at his job! Special mention also to James who greeted us warmly at the start and waved us off at the end. A charming, friendly and interesting man who is worth spending time with to get to know the history of the hotel.

One thought that may often be overlooked but I feel is worth mentioning. If you are used to this kind of hotel and the expenditure required to stay at places like this, you will know that this experience comes at a cost. You will also be aware that often at these establishments the extras and sundry items bought on site are priced mostly based on what the person can pay rather than what the item is worth, which means they often border on being ludicrous in terms of pricing levels e.g. a recent review stating £19.50 for a large glass of wine at a 5 star hotel not too far away. This can often sour the stay leaving you feeling like you have been taken considerable advantage of.

However, at Glencoe House I have never been so surprised and delighted to find that the price of beers, wines and spirits which are to be enjoyed in your room are offered at staggeringly reasonable prices. So much so, that I actually queried whether they were half bottles of wine! It was so refreshing to not feel like you were being ripped off as a captive audience - my humble advice to the owner is, please don't ever change your policy on this.

I'm reluctant to say it's expensive to stay here as that would suggest it is perhaps not worth it, because it most certainly is. But, as stated previously, it does come at a price. That said, having stayed at many 5 star hotels all around the world I can honestly say that this is one of a handful that I would be happy to return to in heartbeat.

Hope to see you again soon.

If you have ever dreamt of being a Scottish noble and staying in your own castle, your time ar Glencoe House is probably the closest you will get to it. Upon arrival, you are greeted with warmth and the history of this unique location is explained to you. Then you are shown to your wing of the house. We had a hall, a great sitting room, a large bedroom, two bathrooms and an outside terrace with hot tub (of course pre-heated for us) all at our exclusive disposal. The rooms and terrace have splendid views on Loch Leven. A 3-course dinner is served in your sitting room, as is breakfast. Add to this the friendliness of all of the staff who all share a strong desire to make you feel at home and you have all the ingredients for a unique stay! We can only very warmly recommend.

Thank you for your question. Glencoe House has a total of 14 suites (8 in the Main House, and 6 in the Bell Tower). All 14 suites have their own private bar. Suites in the Main House have their own private dining table, where breakfast, and dinner (if you choose dinner) are served to you by our waiting team course by course, very much as you would in a classic restaurant setting, except in the privacy of your suite. Bell Tower suites have their own kitchen with AGA stove, fully stocked fridge with breakfast ingredients to cook at your leisure, and a freezer with pre-prepared meals. Guests in the Bell Tower do also have the option to dine from the Hotel menu in the Great Hall of the Main house. Due to these arrangements, we can only serve residents
