I refer you to previous reviews. This is a fantastic place for bird-watching, from the gardens to the tours in extremely knowledgeable and all round lovely guide Josue's 4x4. Rooms big, clean and comfortable. The food is a set menu, so let them know if you don't eat meat. Do be prepared for insect bites out on the tours. The...

I live about 45 minutes from Los Tarrales, and this review is for the reserve and birding hike, not the hotel. If you're staying in the Lake Atitlan area, a stop at Los Tarrales is well worth the trip. We did the 1/2 day birding hike, which was really more of a slow stroll through the beautiful reserve. The guide...

This turned out to be one of my favorite spots in Guatemala and I have spent 4 months there in the last 2 years. Thanks to Lee Beal at Los Elementos in Santa Cruz for the suggestion. I went with 4 friends and family members, none of whom are birders. I loved every minute of it. We spent one night...

First-class service and world-class hospitality! Many activities of interest for birders and non-birders alike, but I came specifically for the birds. 100 birds in less than 24 hours there....a truly amazing place.

This is a great place for birdwatching. The area is a mix of forest and agricultural areas and hosts a huge variety of birds. Their 2 birdsguides are very good and know the stakeouts for the more difficult birds. The accommodation is good, but not exceptional, certainly in relation to the (high) price. The food was perfect and served in...

We are avid birders and did 4 birding trips on a Panama Canal cruise (Miami to San Diego). It was about 2 hours fro the port BUT worth it. We had two guides (our bird tour and a reserve guide). They were bith excellent and of course the reserve guide knows the trails, birds and where they can be found...

Great accommodation, much less rustic than anticipated. Stayed at the Lodge, which as with other accommodation, is located within a working coffee farm. The food is excellent, in quantity, quality and variety, and naturally the coffee is plentiful and excellent. Josue is a fantastic bird guide and Andy is a delightful host. There is plenty to do here if you...

We spent 2 wonderful, relaxing days at Los Tarrales!! Our bedroom (2 double beds) was in the main house with a sitting area(just outside our door) with swing to sit & relax while watching the birds at the feeder. We were fortunate to have Jose as our guide for 4 half day birds walks covering different areas of the property...

We spent two lovely days and nights at this remote setting. Josue is an excellent guide -- charming, knowledgeable, skilled. He even called us out at night to see the exploding volcano. His brother is equally skilled at finding birds and, though his English is limited, he is learning and he knows all of the names of the birds in...

German expats started this private reserve/farm,and the reason to visit is to hike and look at birds with expert Josue and his brother Lester. They lead trips at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. and find 40-60 species on a 3-hour walk. Josue has excellent English and a lightning quick way with a scope and a real joy in birding. We...
