First impressions as we arrived were great. Beautiful location right by the river. A lovely shaded garden bar.. terraced dining. Reception wasn't manned and we were asked to go down to the bar to check in. We waited while the receptionist double tasked serving bar and checking people in. He then took us back up to reception for our key... More

This restaurant has a fabulous location, is shady and inviting on a hot day. The order was taken promptly and the drinks arrived, but then things went downhill. After waiting 45 minutes for one entree we complained, to be told (without apology) 'c'est normal'. The entree (a cold terrine type dish, so no question of long cooking time) came 5... More

We stopped off at L'auberge des Platanes for something to eat on a recent visit to Le Roque-Gageac. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was very good. Good quality food and care had been given to presentation. Would definitely return and would recommend

Situated right on the Dordogne and nestled amongst the yellow stone houses set into the cliff the location doesn't get much better than this! We booked a delux double room which was situated 200 meters up the road in a separate block, the room itself was spotless but we were disappointed with the size and lack of simple things like... We travelled from Southern Spain to Northern france and stayed infive hotels. This was far and awy the most disappointing. Yes the location is excellent and cannot be faulted. That said there is little of credit to be said. The room was poorly decorated in a aple blue with gaudy purple curtains that did not close out the light. The... More

The location of this hotel is prime and cannot be argued with, as far as picturesque, medieval French villages go. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly. Most probably all other rooms in the hotel are great: but do not accept Room10. It is smallish and cheaply finished. There is no way to shut out the light, merely a very... More

We stayed here one night and had a good night's sleep. The room is basic, but suited our needs. It had a comfortable bed, clean bathroom and nice view. Our room faced the river and the major road through town.

Well located in this lovely village on the banks of the Dordogne with great views. We only stopped for a drink on "la terrasse", but it looks to be a great place to stay as well. The menu looked good and plenty of people were eating and what we saw looked OK.

Great location on the River, parking next to the bar and very inexpensive rooms. That said, when they saw our disappointment with the room they had selected for us, they offered to upgrade us for a reasonable price...the result was a very spacious room with a great balcony overlooking the river (see pic). The bar and restaurant downstairs were convenient... More

This is just a review of the restaurant. We stopped for lunch on a canoeing trip & liked the look of the terrace. We hadn't checked the menu though & after we'd sat down found that there wasn't much that appealed to any of us. The waiters were friendly but the food was awful! The only completely dud meal we...
