Beautifully looked after, a lovely room and very good food if you have their dinner 'chez nous'. Rosalind and John are excellent hosts. Lovely garden in quiet part of the village close to the beautiful chateau of Chenonceaux on the river Cher. We much enjoyed our 3 night stay and visited one of the recommended local vineyards (did not come away empty handed!) before departing as well as other chateaux as advised by Rosalind. Good restaurants in the attractive square in Montrichard, about 10 mins drive.

We stayed just one night when passing through the area but will definitely go back. Rosalind and John are a lovely couple who welcome you into their delightful home and look after you like friends. Our room, the Maritime, was spacious and well equipped, including tea and coffee making facilities. A very comfortable bed and a good shower with plentiful hot water added to the experience. We chose to have the dinner that Rosalind offers and spent a wonderful evening with our hosts and five fellow guests, eating a superb 7 course meal and drinking locally sourced wines that John chose to match the food. I'd recommend having the evening meal if it is on offer when you stay! The house has a wonderful garden in which guests can sit and where we enjoyed aperitifs. Overall a very pleasant experience and one I'd recommend.

My wife and I stayed at La Roseraie de Vrigny in July for 5 nights. We were able to rent the apartment which was wonderful. Rosalind and her husband have an outstanding "Gite, Chambre et Table d'Hôtes in the Val de Loire area. They also have a beautiful garden ares. The location was excellent for exploring the sites in the Touraine area.

Your hosts John and Rosalind really look after you, with plenty of interesting advice, and delicious breakfasts that set you up for the day. There is so much to see in the area, and when you are exhausted you can always relax in their delightful garden. We had a memorable stay. Kevin Quinn

We stayed in the "Gite," a small, two-story converted outbuilding right by the main house. The bed and shower were very clean and comfortable, and the lighting was adequate for readers. We elected to take advantage of the "table d'hote", a wonderful dinner of multiple courses. Rosalind is a wonderful cook. We also elected to pay for breakfast; it was beautifully presented and delicious. Rosalind enhanced our trip by doing us a special favor and providing great local suggestions for dining and for purchasing wine. Rosalind and John also maintain beautiful and extensive garden spaces on their property. It is a quiet and comfortable base with many wonderful Loire Valley attractions within comfortable driving distance. (Note that the stairway to the sleeping area is very tight spiral, there is a low beam in the upper story between bed and bathroom, and the "Gite" is "self-catering," meaning that guests are responsible for basic cleaning upon checkout.)

Our hosts John & Rosalind, were friendly & welcoming. Could have stayed for longer, as so relaxing! Rosalind is an amazing chef. Fantastic 5 course meal. Wine & aperitif which we had in the garden of the extensive grounds.

The best meal of our trip was here at La Roseraie - and we had eaten some good food in the previous 10 days. Our only mistake was to think we'd want to eat out on our second night - although Rosalind booked us into a very good restaurant in Montrichard which made up for our failing. John and Rosalind are very good at looking after their guests and know about wine so what's not to like? Peaceful surroundings and within walking distance of Chenonceau - fab.

The Rawnsleys have achieved a clever balance with the prettiness of the English cottage garden and the richness and subtlety of French cuisine. Rosalind is practically a Chevalier du Tastevin and this is not ordinary B&B food. Do not bother to go out if you get the chance to eat in! On the outskirts of a village, La Roseraie makes an ideal base to explore the chateaux with comfortable beds, modern showers and a warm welcome.

What a delight! After a stress free drive from the Dordogne we arrived to be shown to the aptly named Soleil room and offered a pot of tea and sponge fingers sitting in the shade of a venerable tree by the side of the stream. Aperitif, many courses of supper, great conversation were followed by a good night's sleep and a delicious breakfast with tailored suggestions as to how we might spend our day. The same process was repeated such that we were wont to stay longer. One thing I would say is that a family were staying in the room immediately above the dining room. Far from being resentful of their presence, Rosalind took great pains to ensure that our enthusiastic post-dinner conversation was conducted at a level which would not disturb them. The following morning both she and her fellow guests were nothing short of charming to the Parisian family. Our children are now very grown up but we would have enjoyed being there with them.
