Detailed Reviews
This was our second stay in this lovely B&B. Everything is as perfect as we remembered from last year. I wanted to write a second review to let people know about the measures put in place to keep guests safe. The dining room is spacious and tables are well spaced. Our room (always beautifully clean before the covid crisis) has slightly reduced accessories (cushions, throw etc). There are sanitising stations on entering the hotel and dining room with clear signage. Our hosts wore masks when interacting with guests. The breakfast is superb and offers a full range of delicious choices from yoghurt and fruit cocktails to full Scotish, via kippers and creamy whisky porridge. My dietary needs were so well catered for. We arrived to our table each morning (sensibly, you book a time preference to help social distancing) to find spread and non dairy milk set up for me. All in all, staying here felt very relaxing and safe after long months of lock down!!

My wife and I arrived the first week in March to stay for one night as we explored through the Whiskey Region and visiting many distilleries.
Dave, the host/homeowner, gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived shortly after 7pm. The house is easy to locate, very clean and spacious. We got settled in at about 9pm. Bed was very comfortable and linens were fresh and clean. Room was well lit, decor was on point and really made you feel at home.
Breakfast was served in the dining room from 7:30am-9am - just a really good setting to enjoy with a hot cup of coffee. The breakfast was made to order and service by Dave was above par. My wife had the whiskey porridge and I had the Scottish classic breakfast. Both were fresh and plating was perfect (also had a yogurt parfait which was very good).
Showers and rooms had everything we needed. Shampoo, body wash, well running hot water, blow dryer, hand/body towels, toilet paper etc.
This country house is in very close proximity to restaurants and distilleries. Parking on the property is widely available. Landscaping is manicured and the views are quite nice. We would've loved to have stayed longer.
Thanks for all of the great memories, DAVE!

Cardhu Country House is absolute perfection, Dave and Val, the rooms, the amazingly comfortable beds, the food, the surroundings we just cannot fault it.
This was our second stay, we had to come back as it was such a good experience the first time and this time was no different.
The house is stunning and in a beautiful location in Knockando close to Cardhu distillery. Our room and bathroom was spotless and beautifully presented, we had tea and coffee making facilities with Val's homemade shortbread which are delicious. The bed was so big and comfortable, we both had such good night's sleep. Breakfast is great at Cardhu Country House, there is a lovely selection including a full Scottish breakfast and the porridge is delicious. They also provide dinner if you wish, just let them know and we recommend it because Val's food is mouth watering. Dave is an excellent host he seems to genuinely want you to enjoy the house and Speyside and want you to have a good time. Thank you for making us feel so welcome, you have something special.

We simply could not have asked for anything more - our stay here was perfect.
Our hosts Dave and Val could not have been more gracious or accommodating. The countryside setting was beautiful - gently rolling hills, green pastures, trees waving gently in the wind, little country homes, very peaceful, a little church nestled next door and a squirrel or two of you are lucky enough to see them!
Our lovely room (Macallan) was warmly decorated (big fluffy towels and robes) and spotlessly clean with a great view of the little town; the big bed so comfortable we didn’t want to move! We ate in the dining room one evening, enjoying the 3-course meal prepared by Val (who also cooked up a storm for breakfast). Dave was our dining room host, always ensuring we had everything we needed.
We could say so much more, but in a nutshell we highly recommend this establishment and would most certainly return, we felt very relaxed and rejuvenated and the was a perfect end to our Scottish journey!

I just stumbled upon this when looking for a place to stay during a whisky tour in Scotland in 2017. (I had to select April 2019 from the review page drop down - apologies for any misunderstanding)
Took a flyer on this lovely spot and it was superb from start to finish. We were welcomed in so warmly and shown up to our room that was charming, fresh and very comfortable. The bed!!!
Looked like a very recent complete update of the bathroom - squeaky clean and all the amenities!
The food!!!! Fresh, delicious, well prepared, and locally sourced as much as possible.
We used this as a home base to visit some distilleries and it was a very good location for that. LOL, especially the Cardhu distillery that was just down the road.
All in all, a lovely stay and I would love to go back.

Val and Dave (owners) were absolutely wonderful hosts at Cruachan Guest House, which SURPASSED our expectations for our temporary home in Morayshire. We were accommodated in the Glenlivet bedroom on the first floor, which was spacious (5x4m approximately)and high ceilinged with a beautiful autumnal view over the adjoining field (filled with parading pheasants) and a 17th century graveyard with its own patrolling red squirrel. It was soothingly peaceful. The bed was enormous (ideal for two snorers!) and the bathroom (shower & WC) was equally spacious.
We chose to have dinner and breakfast and Val proved herself to be an accomplished chef who would give any surrounding restaurant chef a run for their money.
In summary: a wonderfully restful comfortable stay with two consumate hosts who welcomed us into their own home. We'll be back. THANK YOU!

My wife and I arrived at this hotel around 3pm. after driving for a few hours from the West of Scotland, parked up, got our bags out of the boot and knocked on the door expecting a nice welcome. The door was opened by a man without a smile or a greeting. I said hello, said who we were and that we had a reservation, to be told, 'well you're too early, check in is not for another hour'. We were taken aback by this response as whenever we have arrived early at other hotels and B&B's we have always got a warm welcome and been happy to wait in the lounge or wherever until the room is ready, often with a drink offered by the hosts. I said 'OK, we are happy to wait until the room is ready'. His response was 'well you can't come in because we are still cleaning'. At this point we went to sit on the patio chairs on the lawn, (luckily it was a nice day) and thought about this man's attitude and I was fuming. We decided that there was no way we could stay at this place, put our bags in the car and I knocked again on the door to explain to the host that due to his appalling attitude we would not be staying. He said, 'well you're not getting any money back'. We left and had to find somewhere else. I am really surprised by the high reviews given for this place because it's the worst attitude I have ever received from a hotel proprietor and he really is in the wrong job in my opinion.

We open our home to guests from 4pm each day, and the reason for this is to allow us enough time to prepare our rooms for our new guests after the departure of the previous ones. The time that you arrived "around 3pm", was actually 2.30pm and clearly we were not ready to accept guests. Your insistence to wait until your room was ready was only matched by my insistence that we were not ready for you, and would not be until 4pm. Clearly you have little understanding of the amount of work involved in creating the correct guest environment by failing to observe the conditions of your reservation. Your room was ready for occupation at the appropriate time, but you took the decision to stay elsewhere.

This is our second time visiting this amazing B&B. Dave and Val Stewart are the ultimate hosts; we appreciate their care and hospitality. The rooms are delightful, clean, large and well equipped. Breakfast is wonderfully organized and presented, and we suggest you sign up for a dinner during your stay. The property is very central if you are planning whisky tours, and also very central for restaurants in other small towns. We can't say enough about this remarkable property and its hosts.

My partner and I had a fantastic time staying at Cardhu. The hosts are approachable and incredibly attentive. The room was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed the variety of options for breakfast. Infection control precautions are taken seriously and we felt safe whilst staying at Cardhu. We would definitely recommend staying here and will be back!

What a warm welcome I received at Cardhu. Dave was an attentive and friendly host throughout and always on hand without being obtrusive.
Spacious, comfortable, well equipped and nicely designed accommodation in the rooms, each named after a different distillery.
Excellent breakfast and evening meal with a “bring your own bottle” policy which allowed me the flexibility to try some of the whiskies foraged locally.
When I was asked at the distillery where I was staying and replied Cardhu House they told me they hadn’t heard a bad word spoken about the place from all the many guests they encountered so my experience seems typical of the great stay you can expect here.
I left making a note to return for longer.
