Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were looking forward to a bowl of soup and a break. The soup was as dull as the staff. Potato and leek but I think the leek escaped but not the salt, of which there was too much. And a dismal knowledge of the drinks stocked so just a tonic water. This should be wonderful, it isn't but the loos were nice

Came here with some friends, flat coke, fish and chips were grey in colour and tasted awful. The worst meal I have ever eaten. The chips looked like potato peel that had been fried.. Fish was soggy and tasted really odd. Staff are terrible, they don’t care at all. Left us waiting ages to order, never checked if we were ok. I couldn’t wait to leave! Was that bad, I would give it 0 stars if I could.

Used to be an excellent go to pub, but now very poor quality food - basic beer. House wine - awful. Service good as you could expect given the poor quality of food/drink. The doormen/woman are over zealous and act like they're guarding Buckingham palace. Extremely patronising, passive aggressive, and rude. We only went for a family drink - it's a pub that's meant to be serving the local community, yet they act like it's an all exclusive VIP venue - eventually got let in to find a near empty pub with a leaky roof. I think we surprised the staff by actually wanting to drink there. Sort your bouncers out please - we're grown adults that don't need to be mentored on how to use a pub. PS - you had a ton of under aged drinkers there too - how did they get past Rambo and Rambet??

If you get room number 1 then refuse. Directly opposite roundabout next to busy side road. B and breakfast is a joke . Included was juice tea coffe variety pack cereal nothing else was on offer. On the plus side bed was comfortable. Old coffee machine in room god knows when it was last sterilised or cleaned. This was our experience. Hopefully your stay will be better

Went to this local pub today for drink. It's been a while as last time the service and food was awful. Anyway. Very shocked that a large house wine was £10.75. What a rip off. We went to the Dumbbell pub afterwards and the house wine was only £6. Suggest price review maybe required 🤔🤔

Went to sample the taster menu, enjoyed that very much, complemented by the lovely setting, the ambience and the first-rate service. They made the whole visit a joy, from the welcome on arrival, to the last goodbye. The food was so good and the attention of the staff to explaining what was being served, and to making sure we were happy, was exemplary. A big thank you, too, to the owner, who also took time to say hello and make us welcome. Well worth a visit.

Do not go to this outwardly respectable place. Especially at £120.00 per room supposedly including a continental breakfast. The staff are untrained and should not be working in hospitality. This includes the General Manager who has not replied to my letter and emails of complaint. They do not answer the phone. On arrival at 17.00 the rooms were not ready . We were told to wait in one of the rooms because it was ready but the cups were dirty and there were no teabags or toiletries. Our daughters' bedroom, of an inferior standard, was the same when we were told it was ready. Worse still the fire door was broken. We were also told that the cups were not dirty but chipped I hope that it was referring to the pattern! On pointing out the inconvenience and asking for some form of compensation we were grudgingly offered free drinks , we went out and, on our return asked for them but the bar staff knew nothing about this . Eventually we were served. We wanted further drinks but were told that last orders were at 11.30 . Imagine our surprise and disappointment when we saw that others were being served fifteen minutes later. I subsequently discovered that the licence was up until 12.30 . So what happened? Were the staff being vindictive or did they really not know? Another surprise awaited us in our bedroom. I had asked for the fan to be put on as I had not been able to do it . On entering the bedroom we were greeted by a blast of warm air. The staff member had also put on the radiator. We eagerly awaited breakfast and went down at 10.00 am , breakfast finishing at 11.00. Three stale and cold pain au chocolate awaited us. There were also the small packets of cereal . We asked the cook/waitress if there were more the answer was that she could do some toast , this arrived , burnt with small pats of melted butter . There was a marvellous selection of jams...all strawberry in reply to a request for marmalade we were told that "We don't do that here". There was no selection of pastries , fruit , cheese or cold meats and no other option for our daughter who does not drink cow's milk. On leaving there was no one to discuss our concerns with. The manager promised to get back to me on Thursday the13th and this has not been done.

We booked 2 x rooms for 2 x couples of Friday 31st March for one night for a family funeral. It did not appear our room had been cleaned as there was someone's bra on the back of the bathroom door, empty toilet roll tube in bathroom + used earbud in bedroom. We were late to bed so didn't find this before everything was closed up. That evening about 1.00 a.m. there was a fire at the front of the building. The duty manager was excellent, setting off the alarm and ensuring everyone had evacuated the property. At approx. 4.30 a.m. the fire brigade allowed us back in the building. We entered the bar where the area manager Nick was now present. He offered us a drink and I asked him are we entitled to a refund as we have had very little sleep and they must be insured. Nick replied positively confirming he will be in touch with all residents that evening in the next 24 hours. He also promised us a good breakfast, so after a couple of hours sleep, we went down for, only to be told there was no cooked breakfast that morning due to the fire. However, we could smell bacon being cooked. Nick never did try contacting us, so I called and emailed. Eventually, I received a reply from Nick apologising for not coming back to me sooner and confirming he would happily reimburse us. To date we have not received a refund or any further correspondence from Nick or anyone at the Greyhound, it is now mid-July. Very very disappointing !

Went for Sunday Carvery i.e.. freshly sliced meat and unlimited vegetables etc. Waited 80 mins for starters and had to send soup back as was cold - children's meal was black/grey fish fingers and chips - disgusting! Mains took a further 40 mins - Limited choice- only pork and gammon - Yorkshire pudding and stuffing cold and under cooked - gammon and pork limited and dry and hard - menu says carrots and seasonal vegetables - no seasonal veg. Bottomless Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes - still waiting 20 mins after ended meal and paid - still not appeared. Kitchen staff playing rave music and having a party in kitchen - Chef refused to come and address issues. All round worst family lunch ever - feel sorry for waiting staff who tried their best but kitchen staff were incapable and unprofessional- goodness knows what they were doing to our food! Will never go back and would highly recommend anyone to think seriously about eating at The Greyhound!
