We had the best time at Oakwood lodges. It was a so relaxing and cleaned amazingly, especially under the circumstances. Gerry was fantastic and was there to welcome us and always at the end of the phone for anything. The hot tub was fantastic and the lodge modern and cosy. We will definitely be recommending and returning soon.
We first came here last October to stay in lodge 7 but this year I was treated to lodge 15, the acorn lodge! The pictures do not give this place enough justice (lovely pictures but you have to see in real life), we were amazed from our first step in! The lodge was immaculate, cosy and absolutely amazing! The feeling of opening up those double doors to the bedroom is just brilliant, and if you’ve ever watched love island, it feels like the hideaway room! We honestly loved it. The hot tub was ace! Stayed at temperatures between 38-40, but you can adjust the temperature. We had 2 rain days but that didn’t stop us, if you cater for yourself as in bring an umbrella like we did! The views are amazing, you are very ‘too yourself’ and have great privacy from lodge to lodge. The ducks in the lake, well you just make them part of the family for the week! Great entertainment from the hot tub. Gerry and her staff are lovely. We’ve never met such lovely, outgoing, friendly people. We loved it that much again, we WILL be returning on a yearly basis. Thank you to Gerry & her team! Xx…
I booked this after reading the excellent reviews and now wondering if I'm hard to please but for £275 I expected alot more. When first seen inside the lodge looked so wonderful with large impressive doors into bedroom but on closer inspection we realised doors were all damaged, sofa springs were broken so was very uncomfortable to sit on, the small table kept moving when you even touched your plate, we were worried of it collapsing. The TV remote was a nightmare to use, had to press really hard for it to work. The cleanliness of cabin was alot to be desired, cobwebs on celings and oven was dirty so everytime it was used there was a disgusting smell, fridge door hinge was filthy and found old food wrappers in bottom of bin so deep cleaning was not done in the lodge which was concerning due to coronavirus. The handle for grill pan was not the correct one so was dangerous. The lodges are very close together so you can hear people talking and in hot tub, neighbours were noisy till after 12 and I complained but nothing done about it so was kept awake every night which spoilt the holiday. Such a shame as we were looking forward to a relaxing, peaceful holiday.…
Arrived at Lodge 12 and it was contactless check in, key was in the door. Check in was at 5pm and host Gerry did message about 11.30 to say lodge would be ready from 3.30pm, but as coming from Scotland we didnt arrive until 5.30pm. Lodge was very cosy when we arrived looked lovely. Double bed was comfy and pillows were great, twin room beds were also good. Towels were a great size but we always take our own towels for the hot tub or you will never have dry towels. Although the bathroom has a heated towel rail its tiny and only really for hand towels, so we had 8 towels everywhere trying to dry. A clothes airer would be great as at least then towels not drying over furniture. Hot tub was huge with lovely views. TV was very high on the wall and made a horrible screeching noise when turned on. On the last day we were asked to vacate by 9.30 which was fine, someone came at 8.30 to start emptying hot tub, full tub was not emptied and then hose went in to top up, however during this time my Son went for a shower only to find no hot water, not sure if the filling of the hot tub had anything to so with it as it had been fine all week. All in all a great stay, we visited Selby, Bridlington and York, a visit to the York Railway Museum is a must.…
We picked this location based on previous good reviews only to be let time. We booked this due to it being advertised as a stay safer location on the hoseasons website which meant it would be subject to a deeper clean. Sorry to say this place was a dirty hole. We spent the first hour or so having to clean. As you can see from the pictures there was grease on the cupboard handles in the kitchen, mould on the shower head toilet and the sink tap in the bathroom. Grime on the kitchen work top. The double bed was held up by pieces of wood and the 2 beds in the second room were held together by cable ties and duck tape. The tv above the fire had been melted and had a dvd stuck in it which meant every time you turned on in the morning would wake everyone up as it made such a noise. The so called leather sofa was also falling to pieces. Overall the cabin was so run down. I would have thought during lock down and the cabin being empty would have been a good time for the cabin to be renovated. We stayed in cabin 12. Such a shame as we have stayed at many cabins over the years and this by far was the worse one we have ever stayed at. Please book with caution.…
