Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great place to stop, have a meal and a drink. Staff were friendly and had a good sense of humour, meals had a home cooked vibe and prices were reasonable. Steak was well cooked and scalloped potatoes were amazing. Would definitely recommend.

The White Cliffs has re-opened as a bunk house with self-check in. The restaurant and bar remain closed. There is a nearby bar that also has food, and a breakfast pack-up is provided for the first morning. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the self-check in works well. Good for an overnight stop either whilst exploring the area or travelling across the Channel.

After a long days driving through France we arrived at the hotel too late for dinner service but the staff (Kat in particular) were very welcoming and quickly served us up a couple of meals and some good beer. It is a quaint hotel very close to but outside Dover. It has a nice ambience, comfortable beds, good towels and good food. The dog was also no problem. We will return.

We stayed here last weekend and had a wonderful time. Big bonus for us was that the hotel and bar are dog friendly. We had a very cosy weekend staying here 4 of us in 2 rooms and our 3 dogs. The rooms were perfect. Just right. And the service and food all excellent. Thank you. We will be back :)

We've just had a lovely cosy weekend at the White Cliffs hotel. Our rooms were cosy and warm, the lounge and dining areas were also lovely, we had our dogs with us who were treated very warmly. The food is amazing and vegans are well catered for, wonderful nut roast for dinner and a fantastic vegan breakfast. There is also a big focus on being environment friendly. Wonderful staff. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and the weather was cold but sunny, so we had some fantastic coastal walks too.

This small hotel is located in a quiet village with a beach you can walk to and see the Cliffs (it is reasonably steep but there are stairs and also you can go by car). We had the "family room" which had a lounge with kitchen on the main floor. Upstairs was a double bedroom and a second room with bunks. The bathroom had a tub but there was a shower head higher on the wall so you could stand to shower. The rubber bath mat was appreciated! Nice towels and great bed linens. Mattresses were medium quality. There is no a/c but not essential this time of year. There are no screens on windows (we did have them open for a time). Breakfast is a la carte with many fantastic options for full breakfasts. Wonderful food, all sorts of coffee choices, excellent fresh fruit salad. It is all free if you booked breakfast with your room but we did have lattes and GBP 11 was added to our room bill. I do feel they should have mentioned there was an extra cost as it was a surprise when we checked out. We also had dinner in the restaurant. It was excellent, too. It is an older style place overall but perfectly fine. Parking was out front. I did have a bit of trouble communicating when I booked both with phoning and email but did eventually get the information that I needed.

We stayed here in advance of a mega drive in a motorhome the next day when landing in Calais. They put us on a room called Samphire - where we spent an uncomfortable night on old lumpy beds that are well past their best and the toilet system dripping all night. It got progressively worse as mega lorries rumbled past in the night while a trolley was being pushed up the corridor inside at the same godforsaken early hour of the morning. Old fashioned shower with no power for a proper wash. Food ok by charging £18 for a small piece of salmon is really pushing it. When I explained about the noise they took the bottle of wine off the bill which was no compensation for the state of exhaustion we arrived at our French destination in - wiped out and felling sick with tiredness - not the best start to a retirement holiday which we had dreamed about and planned for - for a long time. Hotel needs to either spend some of its profits upgrading its facilities or lower its prices - wished we’d had gone to a chain where we would have slept
