We had our wedding in December at the Farmhouse at Redcoats and cannot explain how good the staff were on the day and also the whole lead up.
Leading up to the big day we dined + had meetings at The Farmhouse at Redcoats main restaurant, the food was amazing and the staff so helpful and attentive.
The night before and day of the wedding my family and I all stayed over- all rooms were clean, beds so comfortable and the breakfast was amazing! The honeymoon suite was so beautiful that my Husband and I will be treating ourselves to a night here this year.
On the day everything was set and ready to go even when there were last minute changes. Nothing was too big or small for the team ! We had a mojito toast for our first drink and that was no problem - all mojito’s made from scratch ready for toasting. Everyone was served at the bar in good time and all our guests commented on the amazing food and lovely staff.
A massive shout out needs to go the events team especially Olivia and Charlotte. Charlotte helped me a few days before the wedding put together my table plan she was only meant to let me in but helped me cut ribbon and thread baubles which massively helped out a stressful bride. Olivia has helped so much over the year from responding to emails, organising specific requests and being a rock on the day ensuring my nervous self was all ok Olivia made all meetings so easy which is defiently what you want when this is all new.
The venue is BEAUTIFUL for weddings or for a general dinner so I would 100% recommend a visit. I will be returning many a times this year.

Thank you so much to everyone at The Farmhouse. After 10 months stuck in the house this was the perfect trip and completely superseded our expectations. We genuinely have not experienced such kindness and customer service but it’s especially special that we felt every member of the team treated us this way! We were also very grateful at how kind everyone was to our dog, he is young and sometimes embarrassing but everyone was very understanding about it.

We visited in Dec 2020, making the most of the “foodie staycation”. We stayed in the dog friendly room which was well thought out, wooden floors easy to clean and not worried about muddy paws as compared to cream carpeted rooms and our room opened up to a patch of grass making loo breaks with our puppy very easy. We originally only had one meal booked in the restaurant which was included in our stay but we had such an incredible meal that we asked to come back the next day. And despite being fully booked the staff were so wonderful had found a place for us and one that was dog friendly. The freshly baked sourdough is the best you will ever have! We are so sad to be leaving and cannot wait until we can visit again.

We don’t live that far from redcoats, but Have never been , so booked for partners lunch. It was amazing from the time we arrived to the time we left , we felt very safe with tables nicely spread out and all wearing face coverings . The menu was fabulous, such a variety of dishes available. The lunch we had was without doubt the best we’ve had out . Food and service was excellent , just a shame we are now going back into lockdown and it will close again for 4weeks , but I’m sure It will bounce back when they can open again. I know for sure we will visit again very soon
Thankyou redcoats for a very lovely birthday meal

I've eaten at the farmhouse many times and usually had fantastic meals, however our recent trip was very disappointing. They seemed very busy and the food (and wine) took a long time to arrive. The oysters and bread to start were lovely but the calamari was soggy, and the main courses were disappointing again: the celeriac smacked you in the face with truffle oil, the venison was bland and the chip were an odd mixture of both over and undercooked. Although the prawns were excellent. The dessert continued to be a disappointment with crystallised ice cream.

The food wasn't terrible but it is not what you expect to pay at this price and was not up to the standard it usually is. And when it came to the end of the night they had added on drinks to our bill that we didn't even order.

The Covid measures were very good with tables spaced out and everyone wearing masks. We must have just caught the restaurant on a busy night, but it was not great when you are paying upwards of £40 per person.

If you don’t mind staying at an patched up and not tightly old Farmhouse and pay lots of money for it, you are at the right place and it looked so promising from the outside, but once we entered the new extension and all I could smell was old frying oil, I knew it,s not going to be pleasant. Walking to the room and having a view into other peoples room, I was first glad the we where located in the old building upstairs, the room was spacious and had a separate seating area and we had a view to the parking lot and cow sheet, where a weeding took place, and when the girl told uś we try to keep the noise to an adequate level, I should have known!
One we went back to our room at 11pm there was no way to think about sleeping with all the noise from below and across from the weeding, but it came worst the next night, beside the noise from the restaurant we know had also the kitchen fan including smell on top of it, there was no need to complain to anyone, because the staff was too busy with outside guests and the restaurant.
Would I come back here? For sure not, there are cheaper and better options in town
Would I eat here again? No, the staff was not wearing any protection when cutting the bread and was not really attentive.
What could be improved to make stay more comfortable? Serious renovation needed and a good clean up would help, better service needed, beds weren’t made in our room, I believe the maid only folded our towels and left

This is genuinely the afternoon tea. Apart from one sandwich moved from one bottom plate to the other, this is what you get for your money. Mine is gluten free. Was 3 small shop bought finger sponges, two scones - one of which was dried rock solid in the middle when overwarmed and went straight back, a claggy chocolate glass and some fairly nice sandwiches. My partner got 2 finger sandwiches, half a very small roll and a slice of sausage roll on his bottom plate. The picture shows the plates. They look sad.

We picked the Farmhouse as we have been there before and had a very nice Sunday lunch. We were expecting an equally nice afternoon tea. What we got was average at the very best. The conservatory is pleasant and the garden pretty, but the food was disappointing, in my case badly prepared and not good value at all. Although my scone was replaced the replacement was a much lower quality. I would not recommend at all. There are far nicer afternoon teas out there.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent dining experience with us at The Farmhouse. Our Afternoon Tea's are our most popular service at the moment and I must assure you that this is not our usual standard at all, and we are very sorry for the quality of the afternoon tea you received. We are investigating this fully with all teams concerned and would like to ask you to send us an email so we can restore your faith in us going forward. We booked a private dining room at The Farmhouse to celebrate a special birthday and we had a great time thanks to the attentive servers, delicious food and characterful setting. Some of us stayed at the hotel overnight; our rooms were tastefully furnished and the beds comfortable. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel and restaurant and will definitely be returning.

We stayed over, met 4 long-standing friends for a Saturday night dinner reunion. First time at Redcoats in a few years and very impressed with the refurb (very nice room, well appointed) and the vibe at the bar was welcoming, professional. The menu choices had good variety. The dining areas have had some work too and likewise created a good impression. All the problems were around the wine service: the wine list (and numbering) on the one I was given turned out to be different to the one the server had. Once this was seemingly sorted out the red wine that arrived was different from the one that arrived. Then the dessert wine that we ordered wasn't available and the suggested replacement (a sherry) was inappropriate. For the standard they're aiming for this was surprising and disappointing. Breakfast was good.

Thank you for your review Paul. We are happy to hear you enjoyed the food and the ambience but disappointed that our wine service turned your otherwise great evening into a slightly negative experience for you. We apologise for this and thank you for your feedback as its helps highlight areas of which we need to improve for future visits. We do hope you return to visit us again so we can provide the perfect dining experience from start to finish. All the best

We attended a family wedding in Hitchin and the reception was at Redcoats, we could only have a room for one night so stayed at a different hotel the previous evening. We were in Room 6 in the Farmhouse which was ok, the fan in the bathroom was not working and the door stay had come adrift. When we entered the room the curtains were over and a fan was working in an attempt to cool the room. Although the fan was working there was no air coming off it. We took off the cover and cleaned the blades and it then worked perfectly. We found the bed very hard. The wedding reception itself was very nicely done, the barn for the sit down meal looked lovely and the three course meal very tasty and nicely presented. The gardens were very well kept and pleasant to sit in, when it turned cooler in the evening were were offered blankets to keep warm, a very nice touch. Breakfast in the morning was excellent in very nice surroundings. Payment for drinks etc was by card only.

Having got thoroughly fed up with my own cooking and feeling sympathetic towards my daughter in law during this hideous lockdown. I Ordered 6 takeaway Sunday lunches for 5 for son and family and 1 for me.
My meal consisted of a fabulous beetroot, goats cheese, walnut salad with super bread and butter all provided in beautifully packaged boxes.
The main course was equally as wonderful pork with crackling and stuffing, apple sauce, gravy, roast potatoes ( to die for!), vegetables including carrots, cabbage, broccoli, peas and cauliflower in a cheese sauce.
It was all cooked to perfection, the vegetables were still beautifully green and not over cooked.
Sticky toffee pudding with a delicious crepe anglais ( properly made custard!)
The only bit I had to do was pop it in the oven for a few minutes and the instructions were very clear.
Overall a terrific meal probably enough for 2. Good value for money I would recommend it to anyone.
Fantastic well done farmhouse at redcoats
