Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Belle Grove is a place that offers so much it is hard to do it justice. From the moment you arrive your stay is constellated with glittering little gems of discovery. Thankfully the thoughtful owners have designed a souvenir map of the extensive grounds and the many unusual wonders to be happened upon within them. Inside, if you find yourself lacking something - simply look for it. It will be there. I wanted for no utensil or equipment, since Jo had furnished the place with everything you could possibly need. Truly a home from home, with quality appliances, beautiful upholstery and each room offering a level of comfort bordering on the decadent.

The accomodation is exquisitely appointed, replete with oak beams and period detail.Guests will want for nothing as the thoughtful and experienced hosts have provided for every eventuality. In small things as in the great, this place offers a matchless level of comfort. The grounds are enchanting - pond walks, willows, buzzing dragonflies in one part, in another a spaceship and a stargazer's shepherd's hut.
The upper barn boasts a summer house, itself having a vast dressing up box that caused my son to exclaim with joy. It can't be beaten. Cosy, utterly beautiful, and a mere half hour at the most from some of the best beaches in the country it is a dream holiday location at any time of year. The ground floor bedroom is sensational, having a wet room which was perfect for our 81 year old nana. The two further bedrooms both have delightful ensuites and tastefully designed beamed recessed wardrobes. It's a joy to stay here, to light the stove and cook in the excellent kitchen. I would not have seen nor heard from Jo had I not sought her out - mainly to tell her how wonderful a job she has done here. She is an exemplary host and it is a pleasure to congratulate her on this extraordinary place.

A famous time was had by all and we will be back, It's unforgettable.

Response from Jo Jordan, Owner at Belle Grove
Responded 26 Jul 2020
What can I say? It's always so pleasing to know that a visit to Belle Grove has offered fun and delight as well as comfort. That is certainly the aim. I would have popped round to say a 'socially distanced' hello and discreet enquiry as to 'all well?' if we hadn't first bumped into each other in the grounds. Enjoyed our chats!

I could wax lyrical about the stunning accommodation and the amazing grounds which the children loved, but you can find that out from their (rather fabulous) website.

Instead I'll tell you about those little things that really made a difference to us and shows the love, care and attention that Jo and her team put into Belle Grove Barns.

Firstly, it's clean. I mean REALLY clean. We love to stay in old quirky buildings but so often the properties are dusty and smell damp and sometimes feel a little scruffy. All of the finishes in the property are 'high end' and you can see how much love has gone into making everything just perfect.

Secondly, and I know it's a little thing but it makes a difference, is that in the accommodation was enough tea, coffee, sugar and toilet paper to last the whole week (and it was the good stuff too!). So often on arriving on holiday there's just a few sachets of coffee and sugar on the welcome tray and you have to go out searching for a local shop before you've even unpacked your case. (Tiny car boot so can't take our own - space it at a premium!)

Finally, Jo has been so helpful, right from the moment we booked, suggesting places to take my animal obsessed son etc. Jo also doesn't flinch at the most crazy of requests! Both children (ASD) have fears about mirrors in their bedrooms. Both of their rooms had large mirrors built into the headboard. Jo and her team did an amazing job of covering and disguising them and the children had no idea!

We never go back to the same place on holiday, always looking to try something new, but with Belle Grove Barns I think I'll be making an exception!

Booked the lower barn for three couples in February. Easy to find the main entrance then a bit of a hunt for the right place as there are several barns and conversions to stay at. Quirky to say the least but once found its a pleasure. No silly signing in, a no nonsense sort of place where you are expected to be an adult and not drown in the pond and look after your own children if you have to bring them. Lovely open plan downstairs barn with huge fireplace, oddities everywhere, big kitchen, big fridge, garden with outbuildings you can use complete with dressing up box (a must for your average 60yr old). Two bedrooms upstairs were comfortable but very hot (the heating was on full but better that than freezing) and the downstairs bedroom excellent with a big bed and all the nick nacks you now expect. Outside is just as mad with the dragon trail, paths, bits and bobs, spacemen, more dragons, the gin hut with fire pit, ponds and wildlife. If your a 5 star luxury sort of person that want waiting on hand and foot, don’t go! If your a real person that loves being treated like an adult (and will act like one) go and have fun. Local pub within a 15 min walk and others nearby.
An extraordinary and excellent weekend in a bonkers place.

We stayed in “The Stable” unit, a single bed cottage.

This peaceful retreat in rural Suffolk is not like any other. The accommodation has everything you want and more but it would be difficult for me to add to the reviews on this site.

For us the availability of free EV charging was a real cost saver. With electricity prices the way they are how long can this be supported?

The location is good being just a few miles from the coast and other places such as Minsmere and Sutton Hoo.

If there can be a criticism it was the bathroom. The only way I can describe it is , “form over function”. The shower is over a free standing bath and there is no way to contain all the water in the bath, result a small pond. There is a hole in the floor and a squeegee supplied which mitigates the situation to some extent but not ideal. A small price to pay for an extraordinary place to stay.

I never did find all 32 dragon related items to complete the quest. (You have to visit to understand this comment.)

We had a lovely stay at Belle Grove. The rooms were quirky, with decor and furnishings reflecting the travels of the owner. The whole place was clean and comfortable, and well equipped. There are good walks nearby, around the farm and fields, and the sunsets were beautiful!

This is our sixth year visiting this wonderful place and is still has the charm and appeal as with our first visit. If you want somewhere to just relax and chill out irrespective of the weather, then this is the place to visit. Loads of nice little extras, very well appointed and very quirky. You are well placed for visiting Southwold, Dunwich, Aldeborough and the surrounding area

GORGEOUS TO LOOK AT, superbly comfy and fab facilities. Lovely area, so very quiet and interesting, quirky grounds. The cottages themselves are superb - my only quibble would be the strange little sculptural 'installations' dotted in the grounds were probably, once, amusing to look at but now they tend to be one major piece of rust after another. If I had kids under 15 I couldn't be sure they'd be safe as a result. But still a lovely holiday place, beautiful and quiet.

Such a lovely week relaxing and avoiding the crowds! An amazing property with everything you might need. Fantastic setting. Well placed for the tourist spots if you need them, or fabulous rural walking if you don’t. The community run pub in the village deserves a mention. Jo and her team run a fabulous property. Go - stay -chill. Go back - we intend to! Thank you.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay in Granary Cottage, Belle Grove, Halesworth. The cottage was impeccably clean and well equipped, down to the smallest detail. It was a delight to return to after days out discovering the many local beauty spots. We felt instantly at home there in that colourful, idiosyncratic cottage. An oasis of peace and comfort, with rural walks on the doorstep and, a little further afield, perfect Suffolk seaside towns such as Southwold, and Aldeburgh. Plus two of our favourite places - Orford and Snape Maltings. This cottage and the four others on site, each enjoying total privacy, really are gems…….heartfelt thanks to Jo Jordan and her husband whose verve and imagination created these inspiring properties.
