The Wheatsheaf Hotel in Baslow is a Peak District bolthole with easy access to Chesterfield, Sheffield and Derby. Thoughtfully restored to retain many of the original features of the building, our hotel combines historic charm and contemporary style. We have nice guest rooms with en-suite facilities and flatscreen TVs, WiFi is included in the room rate. Take a drive out to us for a pub lunch or dinner with friends. Real ales, guest beers, world wines, and spirits are always available at the bar. We do the kind of food you find in a casual restaurant. Grills are our forte, but there are plenty of alternatives. Roast chicken is served with a wide choice of sauces and sides, and vegetarian choices, curries, burgers and fish dishes taste every bit as good as they look. The Wheatsheaf is one of the best places to stay in the Peak District. Couples love our cosy feel and tranquil setting. Families appreciate the sprawling beer garden and the brilliant adventure play area.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A little overdue but need to say a "HUGE' thank you to the Landlord & Landlady for their kindness & hospitality during the horrendous floods in Baslow. We were stranded along with others. They opened their doors and made us very welcome with complimentary tea & coffee, a warm refuge and a phone charger. Very much appreciated, thank you!

Dear M716hmjeannem. It was a strange day that day and being in hospitality it was instinct for us to do what we could to help. It was the least we could do for people, like yourselves, who found themselves stranded. We hope to see you again when you can actually enjoy a visit with us. Take care Kind Regards Mike and Maz

Nice place! Comfortable room but very noisy housekeeper at 7 am on a Sunday. The same woman was heard effing and blinding from the kitchen (same housekeeper) was a bit much… Maybe they could congregate elsewhere or even lower their voices as everything was extremely nice and all the staff we came into contact with were very accommodating and that was just after all the floods too. We were woken by the housekeepers at around 7 am and that ruined the overall experience as it's not a way I think is acceptable for a “wake-up call”

Queen B, thank you for leaving us feedback. We are disappointed to hear that your experience was not a positive one. Here at Wheatsheaf by Marston's Inns, we set high standards and are disappointed to hear those standards were not met. If you would be willing, I would appreciate if you would call me to discuss further so I can gain a bit more information and speak to those involved regarding this. Kind Regards Michael Breitsprecher General Manager 01246 582240

Me and my partner recently returned from a stay here, greated by a lovely lady who checked us in, shown up to our room and was told everything we needed to know. We stayed for 2 nights and chose to dine in the pub both nights as we loved the food so much! The sunday roast was our favourite and we would definitely recommend. We also had brekafast both days which again was lovely, really couldnt fault our stay at all. So close to chatsworth house which was a bonus as this was our reason for visiting. Will definitely return in the future and recomend to anyone looking for somewhere cosy and friendly. Thank you for making our stay as lovely as it was!

Stayed and dined at the Wheatsheaf over a weekend in November and was amazed by how comfortable the room was - great location for walkers to base their adventures from and close to Chatsworth House. Two things made our stay perfect, however, the quality of the food was exceptional and the attentiveness of the very friendly staff - Mike, the relatively new owner, has done a great job nurturing a fantastic team, who go above and beyond to satisfy customers' needs - three stand-out performances from Arno, Charlie and Maz - well done to them all - every team should be measured against their incredible service!! And, BTW, try their Christmas carvery menu - you will not be disappointed - Every success for the future, Mike - an amazing place to stay and/or eat/drink (especially near the gorgeous real fire!)

Absolutely first rate accommodation - clean and characterful. Outstanding value for money. The restaurant downstairs is excellent. The staff are cheerful and well organized by the French Maître D. Well located and plenty of parking- ideal base to explore the surrounding country or vist Chatsworth which is a pleasant walk from the Inn.

Excellent free pub stopover for campervan or motorhome. The car park has three tiers to the rear, the top tier is available for stopovers. It’s quiet at night, no facilities when the pub is shut but we didn’t need any. Space for at least 10 motorhomes. You can’t book these spaces it’s on a first come first serve basis. It’s a great location for walks into Chatsworth. Very friendly staff with a great pub atmosphere inside. We took our small dog which are welcome in the pub with drinks and treats for the dogs. The food in the pub was a let down, I ordered a mixed grill, the steak was pretty much the worst piece of meat I’d ever been served and the sausage was maybe from breakfast I would have sent the whole plate back had I not had my dog with me, she thought is was her birthday. I would go again but just a simple soup next time.

Had such a lovely meal with my mates. Service was brilliant, swift and efficiante. Food was great too. Shame we had to drive off early. Lovely deco in the room too, and the garden looked welcoming (if it wasn't for the rain that day)
