Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

the hotel is fantastic, it is a sprawling site, if you have mobility issues make sure that your travel company are aware as there are lots of floors, there is a lift, also wheelchair access rooms are available...the hotel is kept very clean and tidy, beds are massive and the rooms are very well equipped.the food is good and plentiful the Brazilian restaurant that you get free, if all inclusive once per visit, is one of the best free hotel restaurants I have been into the food is excellent there. you need to take a mobile phone with you as everything is done via an app..if you dont have a mobile you will struggle to access services in the hotel.towels are changed daily if required, would take own beach towels as they are charged for, the safe also has a charge for use, but most hotels do this...the hotels pitch and put course is very good, but an additional charge is made for this, you have to leave the hotel grounds to access it even though it is technically in the hotel grounds, the pool is long and winding, with a childrens pool attached to it, there are 3 distinct seating areas around the pool with plentiful sunbeds. some guests complained of the food being cold, I never experienced this as I took my meat direct from the chef cooking it, vegetables were not readily available unless you raid the vegetarian section of the food counters, found this half way through the holiday..I would definitely return to this hotel, but would not go in the height of summer as I would find it too hot and shade would be hard to find at certain points of the day, plenty of shades up but when in full sun not very effective, the hotel has a life guard on duty but only covers one small section of the pool, he did walk around the pool area from time to time, but can not cover the whole pool effectively

Booked 2 Bungalows, one standard, and one sea view .I paid approx €250 extra for the sea view bungalow but got two bungalows exactly the same,-no sea view.I complained at reception but they were adamant that I was charged the right price and that the sea view was only a request.I explained to a 2nd receptionist that I had paid an extra €250 for the sea view but no Joy. I then emailed the manager with all the details of my booking and he admitted that they had made a mistake and to visit reception again and the money would be put back into my account. Getting my money back was an even bigger ordeal-Reception kept insisting that I had paid with a different credit card to the one on their system and couldn't refund the money. Even after showing them the proof that I paid with the said card, I still got no refund. Eventually, they contacted their bank, and the money was refunded to my account after I returned home. What really annoyed me was the receptionist's insistence on being right when they were clearly wrong on both occasions. Will not be back

I booked this for the wife and I as I had seen the hotel on a previous holiday to Costa Caleta. It took a maximum of 20 mins in the bus to get here, next time we wikll book private transfers as ther were only 14 euros each way. Check at the hotel was quite quick and we had to complete a form with personal details and passport number. The lasy on reception was very friendly and gave a good explanation on where everything was in the hotel. Room: it was on the bottom floor 8109, this was ideal and not too far from reception and the entertainment. The room was very nice, well decorated and had everything you would expect in it. Food/ Reataurants: The main restaurant sometimes had a small queue outside. This was because they allocated a table to you on way in. This took away all the chaos that you normally get at all inclusive dining rooms. On the way in they give you a ticket and will not serve you unless you have this on your table. Some bottled beers like Heineken are included in the all inclusive package in here. The food was excellent and I can honestly say that it is some of the best food I have had in an all inclusive holiday. We also used the Brazilian Restaurant again this was included in the all inclusive package and if you like meat this is a winner. Rice, Black beans and dips on the tab le followed by a board contaning Breaded banana, sausages, sweet potato fries and bread. The meat was carved from trolleys that came round the tables. This included beef, turkey, pork, chicken kebabs and sausages. This was a really nice meal and a change from the main restaurant. The pool bar was a good area and also had a self service eating and drinking area which was always well stocked. The drink was some local spirits but sometimes I was served Gordon's gin and the draught beer was Cruz Campo which was decent. When using the poolbar area if you sat inside you were service your drink in a proper glass and if taking to the pool they used recycleable cups which were a decent size too. Pool Area: This was very nice and there were always sunbeds available. Towels are provided at reception for a deposit of 10 Euros each and when checking out this is returned when the towels went back. There was entertainment around the pool and again this was decent. Entertainment: Child's disco 8:30-9:30 and adults after this. We seen singers and acrobats which again was okay. All in all we really enjoyed this hotel and the staff were really very friendly. Best food and drink I have had in all inclusive and location is also decent for some local bars and shops. We will return to this hotel and it definately ticks a lot of boxes.

Considering I didnt really want to stay in the Mar (I much prefer the Castillo) the stay was enjoyable - nice breakfasts and nice room if a little cosy / small compared to the Castillo apartments. We did spend the final 6 days in the Castillo though and we still prefer the Castillo. I did attempt to re-arrange the rooms I had booked hoping that the Castillo could house us for the full 10 days but the central booking department didnt seem to understand what I was after and basically they ended up no help at all.

First time at Fuerteventura Mar for a 4 day winter break. Stunning surrounding, updated rooms and great service. Having stayed at Barcelo Corralejo this hotel is a much better set up. More pool space and reception area has a contemporary lounge style vibe.

The Barcelo Castillo is located in a fantastic location and we got one of the best rooms however - only scores 'average' due the entertainment being poor (only saw one good act in our 5 day stay). The restaurant could be a lot better if they kept the food hot after cooking it! When we left there were cases of vomiting and diarrhea which seem to be common. Some of the paths and stairs are poorly lit at night so be careful and take a small torch if you can.

Loved my stay at this hotel from start to finish. Stayed in a sea view double room with balcony. The room was huge and spotless. Large comfy bed and pillows, mini fridge and kettle with complimentary tea/coffee etc. Great aircon. Stayed HB and had breakfast each morning, can't fault the quality and selection of food. Had dinner twice and again plenty of choice. Loved that cutlery and cups/saucers are on tables so didn't have to go looking for these. Found all staff very friendly including in dining area, reception and cleaning staff. Can't comment on bar service as didn't use. Had mini bottle of Cava, cake and card delivered to my room on my birthday - lovely. Great location and will definitely return.
