We have just come back from a 5 night stay, B&B and it was exactly what we wanted and was expecting. The hotel is beautiful. We had a sea view room looking out over the pool, across to the sea. The sound of the waves were amazing each morning. Some rooms overlook a beautiful courtyard with chairs and table to relax.
All the staff were extremely friendly and exceptionally hard working
The pool area is well maintained, although I’m glad we came this year when things are a little quieter as I am sure they would normally run out of sun loungers very quickly. There is always the free loungers on the beach, but we didn’t experience these.
The pool bar is a little confusing, but I think that is more to do with COVID precautions. No drinks menus are put out and the bar staff don’t tend to come and serve you (sometimes they did sometimes they didn’t). We went up to get our drinks but were then told they would bring them over.
The breakfast was fab, lots of choice and all served for you. All staff were wearing gloves and masks.
There is no entertainment, but we weren’t expecting any, it was nice to relax in the bar area at night just for drinks. There is a gym and pool tables. The hotel is situated in the quieter area of Kamari Beach, close to Mount Mesa Vouno, but the walk up the promenade only takes a few minutes to get to the livelier restaurants and bars.
Kamari itself is amazing, we enjoyed everything about this resort. Worth getting up early for the sunrise and walking along the promenade when hardly anything is open, just to get coffee from the local bakery. Also a trip up the Mount is a must for the view - we carried on down in to Perissa to have a look around. I can safely say we think Kamari is the better resort.
I highly recommend this hotel, especially for couples who want the vibe of a resort without it being too vibrant. I can’t wait to come back!!
The Hotel was on the beach. While the black sand and rock beach closest to the Hotel was pretty, it was not the tropical soft sand you would like to walk for miles on. We did spend a wonderful day at the hotel’s Pool and enjoyed the service and atmosphere of this beautiful pool area very much. The promenade area (along the beach) went for quite a distance with many shops, bars, and restaurants to enjoy. Very fun to walk during the evening.
The Bus stop to go to Fira was only a 1–2-minute walk from the hotel and very economical at E1.60 per person one way. The Fira bus station is the gateway to Oia, the Akrotiri area, and the airport. We were in a rush to get to Oia for a sunset viewing and chose a taxi that ran E30.00 for 2 persons, but as I said, we were in a hurry and willing to splurge on this occasion. Both Fira and Oia were must see’s and unique in their own ways. Certainly, more shopping than I would care for, but that was the highlight for my husband.
If you arrive with rental car, there is a small and free parking lot at hotel's backyard. There are several groceries nearby. Erotokritos bakery at the bus stop is excellent although its coffee quality varied a lot.
After reading some of the reviews we were a little apprehensive but needn’t have been. There is an excellent pool with sun loungers/shower and pool side bar, which was kept clean every day and the service from the waiters was excellent. It was the envy of many passers by, who came up for their instagram photos! Our room had a very large double bed, free air conditioning and safe ( bonus). The bathroom was a decent size with daily towel change and cleaning ( I must admit the shower curtain did stick to you whilst showering). Beach towels were supplied at a cost of 5 euros - refundable (another bonus). Mr John, the beach attendant, was friendly and polite and would kindly deliver any drinks and snacks you requested. The bar staff Jimmy, George, Bill, Margarita etc also very professional, only the supervisor looked grumpy.
Prices at the bar also very reasonable. Reception staff, friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Overall an excellent holiday and we would return.
Staff working on the reception were exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful, as were all other members of staff.
All staff were well trained and there was an obvious team ethic to ensure guests had an enjoyable holiday (an ethic which was fulfilled).
The hotel was previously excellent and has been further improved since our last visit.
Bedrooms, including bathrooms, have been redecorated with improved showers and updated hairdryers. Each bedroom now has an easy to use digital safe (a daily fee was previously required to use older key operated safes, but the fee has now been removed since our last stay).
There was much improved and enhanced free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel (now equivalent to 5G data).
In conclusion, I highly recommend the Kamari Beach Hotel.
This hotel is classed perfectly by Jet2 and prices accordingly. If you are looking for top end luxury then this is not the hotel for you.
The staff at this hotel especially around the pool and beach area were very attentive and always polite and friendly. A real asset to the hotel.
Only negative was that even though the hotel requested that sun beds by the pool were not reserved this was totally ignored and most beds taken by 7.30am. Hence reason for only awarding 4 starts. However getting beds on the beach was never a problem. One word of warning getting in and out of the sea can be very tricky as it is a stone / rock bed which is extremely slippery. Investing in a pair of beach shoes highly recommended.
Should we return again to Santorini and Kamari we would most definitely use this hotel again.
We stayed only a week B/B plenty of restaurants along the strip.
Bathroom was run down needs upgrading, breakfast was more than amble for our needs, service on beach was good even though the staff around the pool bar and beach were slightly laid back but it suited me as when I arrived each time they knew exactly what I wanted the reception staff very welcoming very attentive and smiles all day long, the restaurant staff very accommodating and attentive to our needs, the pool was over dosed with chlorine and cold but what pool is ever heated?
Your definitely paying for location on the beach and view from pool area, found the area like a building site on the beach needs a good tidy up, the only let down I can say is checkout was for us at 11am but out flight wasn’t till 9.20pm I asked 3 days earlier for a day extra on our room which they wouldn’t grant till the actual day which I’m assuming just in case they had a late booking or a walk-in so on the day they very pleasantly turned us down,I know this for next time book an extra day!!
Would I go again dam right I would,English people always want 5 star at 3 star prices, it’s not the hotels fault everyone is taking there cut, plane ride transfers etc.
oh yes one other thing the “Chinese masseuses” that invade the beach, there not trained and will touch you to get your interest,it’s persistent all day, and is a complete rip off…. you’ve been warned!! Enjoy.
Reception staff very helpful
Great pool and beach bar
Shingle beach so difficult to access
Rooms basic and showers are so small and so expect to get attacked by shower curtain
Towels on beds fight each day I hated as not enough beds nor brollies round pool and beach and hotel doesn’t care.
Pool bar but staff lazy and service slow unless you want to tip them.
They dont want to clear plates or cups unless you ask.
Breakfast is average and samey
Marked as average as for the price you expected better.
