My wife and I arrived early evening and was greeted by Christopher, who was very friendly and went above and beyond to help and advise.
In fact I will say this about ALL staff at this hotel, they are ALL lovely to chat to and are friendly..
We were shown to pur room and we were lucky to be upgraded with a room that had a hot tub on the balcony. The hot tub was amazing!!!!

Parking is free, but out on the street, a 1 min walk away. The hotel does not have any specific parking on the front.

Breakfast was as plentiful and if you want fresh eggs cooked it was no trouble for this to be done.

The grounds of the hotel were spotless, inviting and comfortable. The sun beds had soft cushions on them.
Towels were available in a little basket by the pool bar, just help yourself.

Our room itself had a huge Queen size bed, and above was a messimeine with 2 single beds, which we did not need as only 2 of us.
There is a small kitchen area, with a hob, sink and fridge, kettle and plates, glasses and cups & cutlery.
There is a sofa and flat screen tv. Plenty of plug sockets dotted around the room.
There was a small balcony with table and 2 chairs.
The balconies in some appts were larger than ours, but it was fine for our needs.

We did not see or go to any inside pool/spa area so cannot comment on this.

There are 2 supermarkets to the left as you come out the hotel, one was 24 hour.

The beach area is a 3-4 min walk away, where there are bars and restaurants all the way along the beach coast of at least 2km.

The outdoot pool was cold, but we never used it as had a hot tub.

The hotel is peaceful within the grounds and is just divine. You might hear the odd plane while outside, coming down to land, but its minimal and never bothered us.

All is all it is a place I would certainly want to come again, a great base to stay in.

Our family of four (parents and two children aged 11 and 15) have just returned from a truly wonderful 10 days.

Tamarix del Mar Suites is a real oasis with wonderful staff, clean and well-equipped apartments, and beautifully kept grounds.

The location is ideal for the restaurants bars and activity of Kamari's beachfront life whilst the hotel itself felt a million miles away from the bustle of the seafront - a place of real calm and relaxation.

Breakfasts were plentiful, ever-changing and catered for our vegetarian needs. I believe they also prepare things to order should you wish - though we never felt the need to ask.

The staff are always at hand to help or to offer suggestions.

Taking the short stroll to the beach for sunrise swims is a must - as is a trip to the other side of the island for its sunset views (buses are frequent, cheap and swift, if a little busy)

The level of service was fantastic. Friendly and always helpful and prompt to act on anything we asked of them.
Arrived about 9pm quite and we were taken to the small outside bar and given a welcome drink of our choice. Checked in quickly when we were ready.

The room/suite was immaculate. It had an outside seeting area and large inside lunge area. Thick large white fluffy towels and fresh white, quality bed linen. Toiletries, 2 large bottles of water, crockery and glasses and a good, cold, full sized fridge. Every day all the bed linen and towels were changed and any questions were always answered promptly. Pool towels were available all day every day.

There were a relatively small set of suites so it was lovely and peaceful and you really did get personal service. The breakfast selection was brilliant. Fruit, yoghurt, cakes, breads, savouries, cheese, ham etc a range of cooked breakfast choices every day and omlettes to order (which were superb) . Fresh ground coffee and a variety of teas and juices. Could not ask for more. Breakfast was also available until 11am if you needed a lie in or a dip in the pool first.

Only criticism was that because I visited with my adult son, we requested a twin room as opposed to a double . As a result the beds were extremely hard even painful to my shoulder and hips, as the double mattress top had been removed. It was put back on after we checked out but as a result the beds were like boards.

We hired a car from the rental place next door which were very helpful and reasonably priced. In 2 days we visited almostb all of the island and had a wonderful holiday. Lots of local excellent restaurants. Ask at reception. I would most definitely recommend these suites. After check out we had full access to a shower and all the facilities.

An attractive development on a rather ordinary street . A lovely surprise to walk into this lovely courtyard , the only noise that of the swimmers splashing in the pool in the centre of the complex . The classic blue and white building has been very well planned and only has 25 rooms , all different but all with self-catering facilities , although breakfast is provided and there are dozens of restaurants within walking distance . The building is over 20 years old and some guests consider it a bit dated I think it still has a lot of charm . Our five days there must have been the hottest of the month , though probably not of the year . It was very pleasant to sit in the shade on our terrace and do nothing .

Currently here and leaving tomorrow after a week long stay. It’s a lovely small hotel. Our room, a luxury maisonette, is great. The roof top terrace with sun-beds and hot tub is brilliant after spending most of the day round the pool.
The breakfast is lovely, plentiful and varied. I’d recommend asking them to cook you an omelette. They are really tasty. It is a very relaxed hotel, no rush for sunbeds and the pool is quiet. There are only 26 sunbeds round the pool (not enough for everyone) but some people use their terrace etc and it never seems to be an issue. One area for improvement in my view (resulting in 4 and not 5 stars) is the lack of atmosphere at the pool bar. It is only open 12 until 6 and then opens again in the evening 8-10pm. We really enjoy coming back to our hotel for a drink but it’s dead at night. If the bar was open for longer hours, I think it would help. The music at the bar is also dreadful- it’s like a dull 50’s style jazz that is played very quietly. I’ve spoken to other guests who have been here before and they said it has certainly changed as it never used to be like that. Recommendations for food whilst here would include Prince and Poseidon on the front. When you leave the hotel and walk to the beachfront, we found the busier and better bars and restaurants to be a 10 minute walk. That end is a bit more lively and the bars are beautiful- we liked voodoo. Another must is the Cretan bakery, 2 minute walk from the hotel as you walk to the beach front. It is amazing!! Overall, we are really enjoying our first visit to Santorini and will return.

Brilliant holiday from start to finish. Staff are wonderful and Betty in particular is an absolute credit to the hotel. She works all day every day and always has a smile on her face and is happy to help with anything you need. Chilled vibes round the pool and the best location you could wish for to discover kamari and the whole of Santorini.. Only one minor downside was we had a room that is at the front of the hotel (201) and the noise from the road in the evenings was really bad. Ear plugs would probably have helped. That is very minor and should not detract from everything else the hotel has to offer. We would definitely return but ask for a room the other side of the hotel.

Had a wonderful 3 night trip here, celebrating my recent 50th birthday with my husband and daughter. We were delighted with the resort. We had a "junior suite" with a four poster bed, sitting and dining area, kitchenette, balcony and bathroom in the main part and our daughter had her own mezzanine bedroom up some stairs. The suite was huge and beautifully cool (did not need the air con). The bathroom included a bath and toiletries. Wonderful mountain view as we swam in the nice pool and sunbathed. Breakfast was amazing, so much variety and different things every day. There is an indoor spa with a small pool, gym area, sauna and massage room. We enjoyed those facilities one morning when it was a bit rainy. I cannot say enough about the lovely staff - all so helpful, polite and smiling, really wonderful. The resort is close to lots of restaurants (I particularly recommend Fistikes, Captain's Corner and Elias Grill) and the beach (5 mins) and bus stop (10 mins). I rarely go back to the same place twice but I would love to visit Santorini again and when i do I will definitely stay at Tamarix Del Mar once again!
If I had one tiny gripe it would be that there are no directions on the hotel website, I did email and was told it was close to the bus stop and easy to find but we ended up walking in circles until some kind locals helped us. When we arrived at Tamarix we were given a printed local map which would have been ideal. If that could be uploaded to the website too that would be excellent.

This is the most beautiful hotel! From our check in experience - we arrived before check in time. We were invited to sit at the pool bar and have a beer on the house. Once our room was ready we were escorted to the room by the concierge (Christopher?). It was on the second floor with a pool view. The room was spacious. On the main floor, a king size bed, with a sitting area with full size sofa and 2 chairs, TV, small fridge and cooktop, and full size bathroom with bathtub/shower combo and plenty of complimentary toiletries. THe balcony on the main floor had a small table w/ umbrella. The upstairs was a quaint loft w/ 2 single beds, a small child size table and chairs. This room also had a door to the upper patio that had a hot tub and views of the mountain/ocean. It was wonderfully clean and comfortable. The pool area is just as stunning as the pictures show and the hotel colors and lay out are very relaxing and inviting. It is only a 2 block walk to the shoreline and the many shops/restaurants there. On check in we got a map with the locations of all the local restaurants and recommendations from the concierge on where to eat. THe concierge evn helped us select and reserve a catamaran trip while we were there. The hotel had a full breakfast buffet every morning with more than just a continental breakfast or powdered eggs. Plenty of local specialties and all very tasty. This is worth the stay. I would go back here again.

We came here to spend a few days with the family and it was disappointing. I’m not a review writer but I think it’s important to reflect our experience so that no one else pays for what they supposedly sell at the price of a five-star hotel. The very deteriorated facilities without any type of renovation and maintenance (rusty bathrooms, spontaneous fall of elements, sell rooms for four people with two rooms and the second is a wooden loft without door in which you can barely stand...). It is true that it has its charm, colors, flowers and aesthetics in general makes sense but it urgently needs a face wash... That, or they stop charging dearly something that does not deserve it... The breakfast very very fair, really that there is hardly variety. As for the service, although it is true that they are friendly, smiling and very affectionate, of course they are not perceived attentive. The location is similar to other hotels in the area. Ultimately, there are better options for a fairer price and better quality.

We splurged and booked the Luxury Apartment / Split Level with Hot Tub for our family of 4. Our 6-yo twins loved sleeping in the loft up under the curved white ceiling in our beautiful traditional Greek style room. The outdoor balcony was huge and private with an excellent jacuzzi built into the corner. Breakfast was excellent and service highly attentive, super friendly and helpful. Aircon was powerful and could cool our high-ceilinged space. 4 nights wasn't enough, we miss it already! Kamari is a great base camp to explore the island from. Cheap and good car rental available from the hotel or next-door. Kamari is definitely the best location for families with kids, and Tamarix Del Mar is in the perfect location, just 100m back from the beach away from any noise. Highly recommended!

can you flush the toilet paper down the toilet
Answer from ChatziS
Thank you for your question but in Greece it is not possible to flash the paper down to the toilet. All over Greece we use the bin. The sewage system in Greece and especially in Santorini is totally different from the one in USA or other countries. Best regards

Yes. You can smoke in the bar area and around the pool. Also on your balcony. Enjoy it, it’s a wonderful hotel
Answer from ChatziS
Dear Kelly, thank you so much for your question. The junior suite has one double bed and there are also two sofa beds so when you make the reservation please write on the special request that you want seperate beds and we will have everything ready before your arrival. Best regards, Sofia
