Tucked away in the heart of Kamari in Santorini and just a few passes away of the famous black sand beach, the Acqua Vatos has been fully refurbished and transformed into a hip boutique hotel in the spring of 2011. It is trendy, elegant and from time to time eccentric, with minimalistic design and exhibitionist bathrooms. Acqua Vatos is ideal for families with kids, since there are rooms designed and equipped especially for them. The XXL pool is a star attraction for adults and children of any age.

Acqua Vatos has been saved in my favourites browser for 8 years and it only took a global pandemic for me to finally arrive here!!!
I did very little research before coming to Santorini but I knew this was the place for me.
All of the people working at the hotel were SO friendly, we made friends with everyone and we even bumped into the owner one morning at breakfast who was so lovely!
The rooms were cleaned on request / every other day and we were literally a stones throw away from the beach (less than 5 mins walk) which was perfect for catching some early sun rises!!
I felt safe & secure here and it was the perfect choice for me and my partner.
We have already booked to come back again next year!

So as the title suggests the hotel is in a prime location within Kamari it's only a hundred or so meters from the beach yet is conveniently about the same distance to the nearest bar's (close enough where they're just a minute or two walk away and still far enough where you won't hear any noise in your room) the rooms in the hotel vary MASSIVELY. Our first room was 114 which was very basic and quite disappointing, the bed was pushed up against the corner and the fridge was noisy, there were no windows (though it wouldn't matter if there was as the room is basically in the basement of the hotel).

The rooms don't come with an iron and the hotel only has two irons available, both if which were knackered and spitting out limescale when I attempted to use them. This was to iron a white shirt less than am hour before being picked up for a wedding so time was an issue, fortunately there's a great laundry service basically next door to the hotel and they were able to save the day.

On the back of the issue with the irons and an exposed connector block hanging from the ceiling of our room we were given a free upgrade to a suite (room 210 to be exact). The new room was much nicer and far more spacious, it has two separate balconies with good views of the mountain. It had a living room, a king size bedroom and a shower room.

The positives of this hotel are

Great Central location
Close proximity to all the best resteraunts
Friendly and helpful staff
Clean
Great air con (some of the most powerful I've experienced)
Nice firm mattresses
Has a spare shower room and toilet for freshening up after checkout

The not so great points

Room 114
Not enough irons
No smart TVs so no youtube, prime, or netflix access
Small pool

Overall a decent stay. If I were returning to the area I'd probably spend a little more and book the raddison blue (just behind the aqua vatos) it has all of the same benefits with none of the drawbacks

This has been the worst hotel experience we’ve had so far on our trip. Our hotels were booked through a travel agency with the request for 2 beds. When we arrived, two of the three rooms in our party were ready. The third one was supposed to be ready in 10 mins, except they decided to have a staff meeting in the lobby and pull the housekeeper cleaning my friend’s room, so after 10 mins, my friend had to ask when the room would be ready. Our room only had one bed. When I brought my paper confirmation back to the front desk to say we should have gotten 2 beds, the young gal proceeded to argue with me that there wasn’t any notes in their system. I told all of our other hotels got it correct and gave us two beds, so somehow they were the only ones who didn’t get the memo. She tried to show me the email from the travel agent, as if I care what their email said. They weren’t able to get us the correct room until the following day. We’re only here for 2 nights. When we left this morning, I told her we would return around noon and asked if the room would be ready. We even vacated the first room. When we got back, the room wasn’t ready. Apparently ours wasn’t a priority. We shouldn’t have vacated the other room until the second one was ready. We didn’t get back until 10p tonight and the power was off. A guest had tripped the circuit breaker and affected our room. Again the young gal just had excuses. No apologies for the inconvenience or any conflict resolution skills whatsoever. Save yourself the trouble and stay someplace else.

Excellent location really close to bars, restaurants and the beach. I went with my friend and after we had booked I checked again and saw that the room we had, had a double bed. I contacted the hotel and asked if we could have twin beds. They came back to me and said we had to pay an additional £90 for a Triple room which consisted of a single and a queen bed. I've never had to pay for this before, yes, I've had to pay a single supplement but not for a twin!!
When we arrived I could see why twin beds would be a problem as the bases were fashioned out of concrete! Plus the fact that we we put on the ground floor for this 'priviledge'.
Breakfast was fine, other than the guy who served us was a bit miserable and did't engage much. The lady was lovely tho'. The hotel was spotless and the Reception staff were very helpful.
Pictures of the pool were very misleading - people always put their towels in the only places where there was any sun when they went for breakfast, as most of the area was in the shade. Where there was a bit of sun for a couple of hours early in the morning the beds were so close to the pooil you couldn't get past very well. Such a shame as we would like to have had a swim as the sea was quite rough and very stoney.
All in all tho it was fine for the week we stayed there.

Staff at this hotel are lovely, Mina, Rea and the team (and that means everyone working at the hotel) just made our stay, really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect, 5 minute walk to the lovely beach, 2 minutes to the bus stop where you can catch a bus anywhere on the island. Restaurants and shops aplenty as soon as you walk out of the door, Kamari is such a relaxed beach resort, just perfect for a couple of weeks winding down. Fira is lovely but has the hustle and bustle of a city and full of cruise ship tourists at most times. Oia lovely too and we stopped there overnight to watch the sunset. However, if we go back to Santorini it will be Kamari again as its such a relaxing place, the Acqua Vatos is also great value as a hotel, but it is the people first and the location second that really makes it stand out. We would recommend staying here.

This hotel is a perfect base for exploring the island. It is close to the bus stop, beach and many restaurants that Kamari has to offer.

The hotel itself is clean and bright. We received an upgrade on arrival and found the room to be on the small side so I’m not sure what our economy room would have been like.

The pool area is a good size and has both sunny and shaded spots.

The Greek continental breakfast was different every day which was nice and we found it to be adequate and never felt the need to go out. The homemade cakes and savoury tarts were amazing.

We spent a week at the Acqua Vatos for my wife's birthday. Due to our stay being in late September and during the Covid 19 pandemic, the hotel and Kamari were very quiet.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There was only breakfast available in the hotel, no other meals but there are plenty of cafes and restaurant both across the road and nearby.
The room was just like in the review photos and we had a view of the pool. THe outside was not as I envisioned it from the photos online.
I was disappointed that there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We are early risers and it was a long wait until the restaurant opens at 8 for breakfast. One day, we had to leave on an excursion at 8.15 and so didn't have much time to eat our breakfast. However, I believe that the kitchen staff would have let us eat earlier if we had requested it.
The pool was nice but cold. The sea was actually warmer. As the hotel wasn't busy, ithe pool was usually empty and there were always plenty of sunbeds if required.

Location…..
The hotel is in a great location, 2 minutes from the main strip on a street with lovely shops and restaurants. A few minutes walk takes you to the bus stop where you can get to Thira for 2 euros ( from there you can get to anywhere on the island for 2 euros) You have a great Gyros restaurant/take away around the corner, Elias Grill…..delicious gyros!

Hotel……
The hotel is exceptionally clean and the rooms are lovely. We stayed in a superior room so we had a fridge and a little seating area. 213 had a good view of the pool , the vineyard next door and the magnificent mountain. The pool area was lovely and private with comfy sun beds. A little pool bar was open for drinks through the day. Breakfast was lovely with continental food as well as eggs and sometimes bacon, toasters were available also. Great start to the day!

Staff…..The staff absolutely make this hotel! The girls on the reception are the friendliest I have ever experienced. Nothing is too much trouble. They bend over backwards to make sure your holiday is the best it can be! They have a great sense of humour and were a pleasure to deal with.

Will we be back? Absolutely!
