On arrival we were sent to the hotel next door for one night because they said they had issues with the booking system (not unusual given the other reviews). They agreed to offer a lunch to apologise, this was appreciated. We were asked to check out the day after at 11am but our room in Astir Beach was not ready yet, so we were asked to come back later, i.e. we had to wait for a few hours without a room. There was a charge of 3€/day to use the sunbeds/parasol in the swimming pool. This was not reported in our voucher nor is mentioned on the hotel website. As such charge is unusual across all hotels we have visited in Europe and because we were with no room, we made a complaint to the manager. I mentioned that such fee was unfair and unreasonable because it had to be clearly and explicitly advertised to be compliant with the European consumer law and EU’s Misleading and comparative advertising directive, it’s the hotel responsibility to make sure that travel agents inform clients of such uncommon charges. The manager refused to make any further offer to apologise for the inconveniences caused and said that it was fine for the matter to be reported to the Police. In talking with 112, it came out that according to Greek law every place with a swimming pool must have a lifeguard on site. This was not the case and therefore a Police patrol promptly visited the Hotel. This is certainly not the family-run business willing to offer relaxing and enjoyable holidays as they advertise on their website. The manager showed no interest in sticking to the Greek value of hospitality, philoxenia. Hence the obligation to leave a negative review. Wifi is quite poor and intermittent, especially in the room. We had to move between reception and pool to find connection for a short time. Room furniture is outdated and there is no high shower head holder. There is a charge of 7€/day to use the sunbeds/parasol in the beach. Food and drinks served via buffet in the restaurant were reasonable and offered a good variety.…

The room at Astir Beach Hotel was a major disappointment. The outdated furniture gave off a dingy vibe, and to top it off, the fridge wasn't even functional. It felt like stepping into a time warp of discomfort. Definitely not worth the stay. I've been in Thassos, Santorini and Corfu so far in Greece and this is the worst hotel I ever been, it reminds me of India.

As soon as we arrived to check in, we were told our rooms were not ready yet and that for the first night only we had to stay in a different hotel, Astir Palace Hotel. This is obviously not how we wanted to start our holiday. To top it off, when we went to check in again the next day (as instructed) and our rooms were still not ready until 4pm so we were roomless for 5 hours as check out in Astir Palace is 11am. If you are booking all inclusive, it's very limited. You have to pay for cocktails and the drinks you do get are very watered down and served in plastic cups. We also experienced the cleaners entering our rooms whilst we were asleep and walking around our rooms collecting towels and cleaning which was very uncomfortable. Just to make our experience even better, there was an incident at the pool one night in which a few young individuals were involved. As a result of this, the hotel decided to stop serving drinks to under 25's even if you have booked all inclusive. We spoke to the manager of the hotel about this and there was no understanding or no mention of us getting any monetary compensation. …

I went on a party holiday with my friend. Although we still had great trip outside of the hotel, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Cons -Drinking was banned in the hotel for a few days as there was an 'Incident', (even though this was nothing to do with us, and we had paid for all inclusive.). I've heard they do this often. -When we got there we were told the hotel had been fully booked. We were told to stay in the hotel next door until they could move us over to this hotel which was very inconvenient. They did this to about 6 other groups who had also booked. It ruined our first night. -No hair dryer, remember to bring your own if you're staying here. -Staff were rude and unhelpful. -Breakfast was mouldy and rubbish, some eggs I ate were green!!! (but this didn't matter too much as we usually weren't up in time for breakfast ) (8:00-10:00). -Quite a lot of families/kids around so they were very strict on noise, which is expected. -Room wasn't great. Pretty dirty, and bathrooms were really basic (had handheld shower???) -Cleaner hardly came, and never made beds/refreshed sheets. -If you're wanting to go to the strip, there are other hotels which are closer such as Majestic. We found this was the most popular hotel among other party goers. Pros -Really nice pool and great location, overlooking the beach. -Pool and snack bar area was always quite quiet, didn't feel crowded or busy . -Lunch and dinner was average/reasonable. For Lunch and dinner the choices were: pasta, pizza, chips, salad bar which was always on offer. This was then usually accompanied by some sort of stuffed/flavoured veg, different meats, flavoured rice, which was all inter-changing. Overall, although the hotel was pretty poor but we found it didn't affect our trip, and we still had a great time regardless. If it fits your budget, and you're not too fussed about any of the cons I mentioned then it will serve your purpose as a basic hostel-like stay. If you can get into the hotel next door ,(the Poseidon) , or the Majestic Hotel I would recommend going there instead. …

Just for a bit of background this comes from the perspective of a lads holiday - there were a few families staying in the hotel but quite why you'd come to Laganas I do not know... it wasn't even particularly cheap. Given that their were a few families in the hotel, the staff were often keen for us to keep the noise down at night which we always thought was fair enough and for the most part the staff were reasonable. Tolis the Night Receptionist was very good and was well liked by the guests as was the guy who worked at the pool bar. However, there was another receptionist who was very rude and patronising and while I understand that it's not the easiest job at times we were polite and expected to be treated with a bit more dignity. Also despite pointing out that the air con did not work in one of the rooms, she did little to help. The hotel manager was also difficult to deal with and upon checkout demanded we pay €100 for breaking one of the cheap chairs outside (by just sitting on it). We weren't on an All Inclusive Package but we were speaking to some people that were and supposedly the management had banned alcohol on one of the days which you'd understandably be a bit annoyed by. I understand there is a lot of young people staying in the hotel and that could bring trouble but most were respectful from what we saw and only here for a good time but we were still treated very suspiciously. The location is definitely the best part of the hotel being about 15 mins from the strip and on the beach where there was lots of restaurants too. This is definitely the nicer part of Laganas and while it was the more expensive area you could find cheaper places to eat too like Yiannis with great service which we'd recommend. The pool area was another good thing too with plenty of sun beds and a good atmosphere. A bit of a grudge was that they did charge us for sitting on the sun beds and in general looked to make money off you wherever possible by charging extras but I imagine that's the case for most hotels in the area. In terms of the rooms, they are nothing special but functional given that you wouldn't be spending very long in there ideally during the day. That said, the rooms were a bit short on a few basics: one electricity socket (so bring an extension cable) and there was only one tiny bin in the bathroom and given that the cleaners do not clean everyday after a while the rooms get really messy with bottles and rubbish everywhere. The wifi doesn't work and there is no service but to be honest it's not the end of the world going without your phone for a couple days we found. Overall, for a lads holiday it will be fine and I think a lot of the hotels will be pretty similar in Laganas. The location is great and as long as you spend little time in your room and don't go looking for trouble then Astir Beach will be alright, but I really would not recommend coming here during the season if you are a family.…

Where to even start.. Came on a girls holidays, booked in March. Hotel is in an ideal location to be honest, not too close to the strip but only a 10-15 minute walk however thats about the only decent thing, hotel wasn’t cheap and we also paid extra for a sea view room. -Arrived at the hotel to find out we’re on the ground floor facing some grass, some sea view! -Rooms are quite dated but to be fair they were clean. However doesn’t come with anything it states it’s going to supply, hairdryers etc. -Breakfast is pretty bland, that we ended up eating out 6/7 days. -You have to pay for practically everything, air con if it’s not July, can only sit at the pool free of charge if your all inclusive?? You can also only get an ice cream if your under 12 years old🤣 -The Wi-Fi barely works at all unless you sit in reception and there is barely any service in rooms either. -They also took our passports at reception, which I’m unsure if it is normal or not but be prepared to hand it over. -The “shower” isn’t a shower, it’s a bath with a shower head, with no shower head holder. The bath is also significantly small that the bath curtain almost sticks to you. -Not really the ideal location for a girls/boys holiday, understandably you aren’t allowed to play music past 11pm to respect other residents but workers will still proceed to walk around and ask why you are not out even if your sitting quietly on your balcony/terrace and can often get quite angry. However, overall we weren’t impressed with Laganas in general and think the town/nightlife as a whole is massively overrated. …

At first glance, the woman in photo #3 really caught my attention. So I decided to spend £700 just to gain the slightest chance in crossing paths with this amazing woman. Although unsure if the person in the photo was indeed a real woman, I committed. However, upon arrival, I lost all lust for mi julie, this really ruined my 7 night experience as I ended up drinking on my own every night SCREAMING for my sweetheart.

For personal reasons we had to stay at this hotel and my 'instant impression' was reasonably good.....although expensive. On my return to the U.K., I had reason to contact the Hotel manager.....who was excellent and assisted me with a problem I had. This can only suggest that the hotel is very good....to excellent and I would recommend that people take a look at this hotel....positively.Well done Hotel Astir Beach.

I do not recommend the hotel, the rooms were cleaned at least 3 times a week, the breakfasts are terrible. A lot of people in the hotel are dissatisfied with the service. The Astir Beach Hotel deserves maximum ** stars, and even with your eyes closed...
