We have always stayed at The Sheraton Mirage across from The Imperial Hotel but we decided to try this hotel. We travelled with our granddaughters on a stay and dine package for four nights. I booked a Superior Double Room (which on the website showed a balcony). We were booked in by a very surly unfriendly young man. We were given room 305. If this is a superior room, I would hate to see their standard room. To start with, the room opened up onto an unkept grassed area, overgrown and right on top of a very noisy large airconditioner attached to the shopping precinct, the sliding door stuck and we could barely open it. The curtains smelled musty, inner curtains had mould on them and the curtains were off tracking and we could not close them properly at night. The shower head flopped around and water could not be regulated alternating hot and cold. There were holes in the tiles on bathroom floor, holes in the wall (above bedhead where we had to put paper in it or the bed head kept banging loose), the worst thing was the bed had a leg missing and therefore kept tipping up. I rang reception only to be told there were no other people on desk so they would ring me later...which never occurred. The hotel reception and door staff were the most unfriendly I have ever encountered. The restaurant is not fine dining. There is no attention to detail. Our first night we discovered the "gourmet dinner" was literally 3 choices for entree and 3 for main which did not include the childrens menu, yet I paid extra for them to stay on the package. The food was basic to say the least and tasteless. It never changed so for 4 nights we wouldve eaten the same food nightly....so the last 2 nights we went to Omeros and sheraton mirage for dinner. Both of which were far superior to the meals we were offered. If you are on a dine and stay package it should change nightly or offer alternate dining venue (which the restaurant manager misinformed us stating we could eat in any of the dining venues under the package...no we couldnt). I asked for a late checkout and was prepared to pay the $50 per hour over 11am as we had a night flight home but they gave us one hour only at $50. So we had 2 small children to wander about with for hours. Very annoying as I specifically asked this question when I booked and was told it would be fine providing I knew I had to pay for it. The only good thing about this hotel is the lobby and bar area. It is beautiful but our stay fell short on every other level. The pool is not heated and very cold but the pool bar is quite ok (although plastic water glasses look very old) and the staff there are pleasant. The breakfast was good and coffee hot but the staff do not bother to tell you that you can order omelettes etc. The restaurant and staff are far from fine dining. The daily housekeeping would only ever leave one towel for 4 of us, we had to ring each day. The floor of our room was never vacuumed yet had crumbs on it for the 4 days we were there. The room we had was a disgrace and the customer service is non existent. It is not 5 star. The hotel is riding on the Versace coat-tails very badly. Very disappointing stay indeed.

We traveled from Brisbane to the Imperial Gold Coast for an Easter lunch because we had seen the Chanel Nine article on what a fantastic Easter display at IL Barocco restaurant. Well the buffet did not disappoint the food was delicious and the Desert Buffet was creative, different & amazing it took our breath away the variety and standard in artistry & flavour was world class and we will definitely be back for their next special event Brilliant & well done to the whole staff especially the Pastry team.

A very enjoyable and relaxing stay over three nights. Having stayed at the hotel several times when it was Versace, wasn't sure what to expect. The standard was still very high and the staff fantastic, professional and helpful. Food was excellent. The pool area is still lovely to relax in and the public areas of a high standard. While some reviews comment on aspects that need maintenance and updating, I'm sure this will happen in time and didn't detract at all from the experience. Be assured the hotel is still a very high quality experience to stay in and the owners are clearly trying hard. Well worth a visit!

We had stayed at the Versace Hotel and just recently at The Imperial as it is now known. After reading some poor reviews we thought we had made a mistake in returning but we were not disappointed at all, in fact we were delighted. The decor and furnishings although opulent and ornate are kept beautifully, spotlessly clean and maintained. The staff at every point was polite, attentive and efficient and the breakfast buffet excellent with plenty of variety including a gluten free section. Judging from our experience we can not fathom how it has receive any poor reviews.

We have had a fabulous 4 day stay …the staff were wonderful in every area, friendly & courteous & fun. We had a double room which was well appointed and spotlessly clean. The fragrance in the room & throughout various areas of the hotel was lovely. We spent hours each day by the pool which is a beautiful & luxe area. The cabanas are a great touch. The water was a perfect temperature & we were able to order poolside drinks & snacks. The food from breakfast through to dinners was absolutely delicious- we had the best seafood linguine ever! And the seafood buffet was exceptional. We spent the end of each evening listening to the piano & bass players in the bar/foyer. The bed was comfy with large pillows. A perfect girls weekend for us. Can’t wait to come back.

I was one of the First guests to stay at the Palazzo Versace when it opened on The Gold Coast and it was fabulous, now on a recent visit …I stayed at new The Imperial…I had an amazing stay …the staff were helpful, Friendly and courteous, the rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean…the Hotel is well maintained..the lagoon / pool are wonderful with a sandy beach area and reserved Cabanas …with cocktails and snacks …the hotel has very good food and their high teas are deliciously decadent.. the hotel is close to other good restaurants , shops and attractions…The beds are so comfy and the pillows large and luxurious.. lovely thick bathrobes and slippers and in the bathroom ,Molten & Brown toiletries …a magnification mirror ,safe , ironing board & iron…in the bathroom there is a shower and separate spa bath A TIP …for the Spa bath and those who are not familiar with the fixed bath plug in the spa ..you lift & turn it to the left to fill the bath …

I recently stayed at the Imperial Hotel Gold Coast and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory and ruined my partner’s birthday. Despite assurances from the staff regarding a refund, I am still waiting to receive the full amount, almost one week later. The room had numerous issues including a dysfunctional bath plug, a leaking shower, an unclean sink and black scuff marks on the floor. There were mouldy day beds by the pool and the towels provided were damp and unhygienic. We had to find alternative accommodation, causing significant stress. Attempts to contact management over the phone were unsuccessful, leaving me feeling disappointed and frustrated. I urge the hotel to prioritise customer satisfaction and address these issues promptly.
